The Inside Line: Racing the 500cc World Motocross Championship is the critically-acclaimed new book by British former 500 GP racer Rob Andrews. Have you ever wondered what it must have been like to race in the 500cc motocross GPs during their 1980s heyday? 'The Inside Line' tells you. Tracing Rob's journey from complete beginner, through to factory Kawasaki rider, GP contender, and Motocross des Nations team member, The Inside Line goes where no book has gone before: deep into the heart of life as a professional motocross racer. Superbly illustrated with nearly 400 pictures from some of the finest photographers in the industry, it takes the reader on a fascinating odyssey of insight and intrigue. Learn the inner workings of the grand prix motocross world, get answers to long-pondered questions, and discover things you never knew. There are facts that will surprise you, anecdotes that will make you laugh, and honest, never-before-published information. Find out how it felt to race against motocross legends on the world’s most famous circuits. Discover what it was like to race a full-factory 500 for Team Kawasaki. Learn how the riders lived, travelled, trained, and practiced while on the road. And even read how many in the close-knit GP paddock were ripped-off in an elaborate, multi-million-pound financial scam. Seriously. It happened. Join Rob as he guides you - in his own words - through the jubilant highs and occasionally devastating lows of his journey from raw novice all the way to the biggest stage of all: the world motocross championship. And by the end you’ll understand just what it was like - and what it took - to be a grand prix racer.

Terrific story
Terrific story, well written. You get a complete picture of GP motocross in the 1980’s. It’s such a tough sport, most people have no idea of what riders go thru. Readers will have a much better idea on all aspects of the sport.

Inspired by Rob's fascinating Namur…
Inspired by Rob's fascinating Namur track walk on YouTube which is a must see for Motocross fans, Father Christmas brought me Rob's autobiographical book The Inside Line.
The book takes us through Rob's MX career from his first chance encounter with off road bikes through schoolboys and onto 500 GP's including a complete chapter on Namur.
Very entertaining, insightful and informative about not just the racing but all that goes into being a professional racer in the 1980's.
I managed to spin it out for 10 days over Christmas; it was like a good meal, I didn't want it to end.
Imperdibile per chi amava la classe 500.
A documentary book that captures the golden years of motocross and the fantastic 500cc class, for those who wish to preserve their memory and share with future generations what we were fortunate enough and honored to esperience and witness, even as mere enthusiast. A true book, written with honesty and humanity, accompanied by beautiful photographs, a must-have for any enthusiast who has ever loved this wonderful sport.
Thank you Rob!
Super quick & efficient. First class!
Super quick, super efficient, along with a personal touch. First class!
A very well written quality book of memories shared.
A very well written honest account of Rob's own life as a professional MX rider. Down to earth and accurately sharing his humble starting out in riding ,and racing those early Midland Centre meetings some of us readers remember well ourselves. Then his progression up the racing ladder to the championship and GP level that we could only observe as spectators and fans. Great attention to detail in every aspect. Carried through to the quality of the book it self and the care in which it is marketed and delivered. Rob has put the same effort and work into bringing his story to the reader and sharing such detail just as he did with his approach to attaining his well earned racing success.
Everything as it should be 👍🏼

Inside Line is a gem!
Inside Line is a gem! Such a detailed and interesting insight into GP motocross, from its greatest era. Would also be a good tool for young aspiring racers. From the first time you pick the book up, it’s hard to put down. It will now have a place on my coffee table, to be read again and again.
Best book I’ve ever read.
