Being part of Rock Choir has enriched my life! Singing is so good for the soul and mental health, but I’ve also found new friends and been in lots of exciting performances and been to places I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to. Our choir leader Paul is amazing!

Every week rock choir lifts my spirits. As well as singing we laugh a lot and have so much fun. Everyone is welcoming and our choir leader is a gem.

I've been a member of the Caerphilly choir for over 6 years. I originally went on my own but have made a lot of friends there. The choir is like a big welcoming family! The choir is very inclusive and fun. Our choir leader (Paul) makes the whole experience fun and encourages social gatherings.
If you've ever been in a choir before where you have sheet music and it's very serious, don't expect the same from Rock Choir... It's a bit of a shock when you first join if you can read music and expect it, but the teaching method really works and we all know singing always makes you feel better!

Fantastic choir leader, relaxed and enjoyable rehearsals, excellent resources online, brilliant new friends, renewed enjoyment of singing... I could go on and on. I would say, if you are thinking about seeing what Rock Choir is all about...RUN, don't walk!

Ok, so not the typical member ! Frankly, I joined because my wife thought that it would be a good thing.
In fact, it hasn’t been good…it’s been absolutely GREAT !
It is so much about the music, about sharing that with others and about community. It’s an absolute joy attending and knowing that you will be on an absolute high for a long time after.
What really makes it extra special every time is our Choir Leader, Rachel Modest….beyond musicianship, an amazing voice, fun, she is a really lovely person so suited to the role. Thank you.

Singing in a group is great for your mental and physical well-being. Rock Choir is such a positive experience and Tom always makes the space welcoming and safe for everyone. I love how inclusive it is and I love that just occasionally I get to feel like a rock star! Thank you Rock Choir and Tom for how you make us feel.

Being a member of Rock Choir has truly changed my life. For the best part of 10 years now, it’s been a constant source of joy, support, and connection – and I’m still going strong!
There have been times in my life when I’ve really needed a lift, and Rock Choir has always been there. The music, the people, the atmosphere – it all comes together to create something incredibly special.
Our leader is a huge part of that magic – supportive, amazing, and so talented. He brings out the best in every one of us, and makes every session something to look forward to.
Rock Choir isn’t just a choir – it’s a family. I can honestly say it’s one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of.

I was told about rock choir through my mum’s friends who are in the rock choir. I am quite an introverted person but joining the rock choir has brought my confidence out. I now am able to perform because of the confidence I have got through joining the rock choir. I would totally recommend this to anyone who has a lack of confidence.

The Rock Choir are not sympathetic my son had to cancel his membership due to family illness they made him pay for the full term even though over Easter there were not any practice sessions for a month. I urge anybody joining to read the full terms and conditions This is a business that don't care

I joined rock choir in January 2025 and I can honestly say it has made my life so much better. From never leaving the house i now rehearse weekly, practice with the online resources almost daily & attended my first gig in April 2025. My leader runs sessions 4 days a week so if I can't make my nearest one week I can go to one of his others & everyone is so friendly & welcoming. Love love love it x

If you are not a person that has a "standard 9-5 week" and have childcare and a partner whom works shift to help with this, then this choir isn't for you!!
Despite explaining circumstances and being able to advise of commitment days I could attend they were completely not open to offering a flexible membership. Even on my cancellation email they didn't even offer any response to the suggestion. I honestly cant be the only person who require flexibility. They offered me this flexibility for the first term but wouldn't honour it on going forward. Which speak volumes and sad as the choir is a great idea and believe if it offered more flexibility for those 'parents' and non 9-5 people it would bring them more members. Really disappointed. No need to reply to this a standard response isn't required. Thank you

After moving the length of UK to Cornwall in 2022, I joined Rock Choir to meet new people and get back into music. For me, this was the best thing I've ever done. I have now got a huge group of friends and a smaller group of close pals. As with any large group of people there are clashes but these are soon soothed. I have now become a prefect in the last year and enjoying it even more. I did ask about a score when I started as I am a musician as well as a singer but I have not felt it was detrimental not to have a score. Think I'll be here for many years to come.

I had really high hopes for this choir. I attended the kirton one with my friend for our free taster session. There was a warm welcome from who I presume was a prefect? And the leader said hello but didn’t say a lot really. Asked where I wanted to be and sat at the front.
I was disappointed that as a musician, no sheet music was available and only lyrics were. Plus you had to print off your own copy or you had to hand back the copy you gave. As it was lyrics, there were two songs we couldn’t perform and were forced to watch/listen to the others.
It marks itself as a “family” rather than a franchise, but it appears to be one. The fact that all choirs are singing the same music and can go along to another if away on holiday.
The leader was nice enough, but she did make quite a lot of mistakes in her performing/keyboard playing. I don’t expect it to be perfect; but was astonished how many mistakes were made.
Then came the email - £120 for a term?! And 10 weeks per term so £12 a session. I’m sorry but it’s nowhere near worth it when you don’t even get the lyrics printed off for you
I’ve recently joined another choir that I used to attend and it’s £3 a session, and they let you borrow the sheet music.
I agree with other comments that it appears to be cliquey. Maybe members could be asked to be more welcoming?
Sadly, I won’t ever be returning. I expected it to be a lot more “professional” whereas it screamed very amateur to me but with professional prices

I joined Rock Choir for around a year. It was fun at times but the majority of the choir were old so I was sort of pushed aside and left out of this friend group that had formed. The song choices are very very questionable, was definitely not for me and not what i thought. It shouldnt be called Rock Choir, should be called Pop Choir and let a choir doing only Rock music, be called Rock choir. Taylor Swifts shake it off was my final straw, it was so unbelievably cringey i couldnt perform it live.
I also used to get a load of comments from audience members saying the logo made us look like we were a cult or something to do with Jews.
Also you have to have money to join in with the fun events which I just couldn't afford. They seem to worship the lady who started Rock choir but I'm not sure why.
Alot of people said it was cringey to watch due to the mainly old people with the odd younger person. It was the first time I felt out of place because I wasn't old, in the nicest possible way. Maybe have different age groups?
Some of the members were not friendly and looked at new members like we weren't welcome.
I'll try and find a choir with people around my own age that does actual rock music.
Just to add, alot of audience members came to see 'Rock choir' and then the feedback was.....'your not a Rock choir!'

To be fair, I really enjoyed my first term with RC. However, I simply can't stand jumped up prefects, wokes, and attention seeking wimps dictating to the majority. It lost its vibe because of these few childish wannabes. Also, for the 90 minute sessions you're supposed to be rehersing, you'll be lucky to get more than 30 minutes of actual singing done! Lots of time wasting happens....Definitely not worth £30 per month for that privilege. Not an environment I want to be in.....thanks 🙃
