Rockshop Hornby Christchurch
Popped into Rockshop Hornby Christchurch and was looked after by Victor, who really knew his stuff and helped me choose the best options for what I needed. I spent a decent chunk of money but felt totally confident doing so thanks to the sharp pricing and proper expertise. If you’re buying musical instruments or gear in Christchurch, this is hands-down the place to go and I’ve tried others
Worst customer service experience ever
Worst customer service experience ever! Unhelpful, unfriendly (bordering on rude), and just felt like I was an inconvenience. Didn't know much or anything about the products I wanted. Will never shop with this company again.
Rock shop whangarei
We visited the Whangarei store today to be greeted by Adam and Grayson who were very helpful with our guitar we needed strings and other services we are very happy with their customer service. Highly recommend the Rock Shop Whangarei if you have any music Needs.
Guitar amp purchase
Just bought a guitar amp from the Rotorua rock shop today. The team there were very helpful and welcoming, certainly going the extra mile for me. Their efforts, helpfulness and patience were greatly appreciated.
Great service and great deals
I contacted Diane at the Lower Hutt Rockshop to get advice about purchasing an electronic drum kit to learn on. I'd done my research and settled on a Roland kit but was torn between the TD-07 or whether to go up to the TD-17KV2. Diane gave me great advice about the various options and bent over backwards to put together a great deal. In the end I decided to go with the TD-17KV2 and couldn't be happier.
Podcast recording mic…
Yesterday I drove from from Whangarei to Takapuna RockShop to purchase a recording Mic. For the purpose of recording vocals in studio recording style music. The is amazing my vocals came through as clear as crystal. This microphone is also used for podcasts that came out during the Covid lockdown and because of so many being sold I got mic for only $50 it was well worth the trip. Thanks Guys you gave be a bargain
Very poor customer service
I made a click and collect purchase and provided a copy of my ID on an Apple wallet app, which was accepted at the store in the past and accepted at all other stores.
The Manager “BEE” refused my ID and made me return with a physical card ID. When I told him he had a lot to learn about customer service he got very arrogant with me about the whole situation. He went on to swear at me under his voice.
After I got the refund, I walked out the store and he followed me and told me that I must not ever return to the store.
Great customer Service to the manage BEE at Botany Rockshop. This could have been avoided.
Good products and cost
Alex @ Lower Hutt Rockshop
Was into buy some strings and got talking to Alex about all things guitars and amps and I got talking about how I might be in the market for a new amp. I was looking along the lines of the Fender Pro but the price tag was a point of contention having tried a couple of Fender amps before, I was just not interested. Alex mentioned they had a Blackstar TV-6A on sale and it competes pretty well with the Fender Pro junior at a really nice price range. Needless to say, I went away came back with my guitars & pedals and walked away with an amp that I am stoked with. This thing packs some punch and I am super stoked with this purchase. This thing is a Giant Killer I believe and I’ve only owned it a couple days but I can’t wait to see what more it can do. This amp would not have crossed my Radar had Alex not mentioned it. I agree Alex, I think unless you are a Fender Purist, you are paying for the Brand name and the Blackstar TV-6A definitely stacks up and a fraction of the cost so big ups to Alex at Lower Hutt rockshop. Win win
My experience with RockShop was…
My experience with RockShop was awesome. The staff was really helpful, they go beyond to find what I’m looking for, they make sure I was getting the best instruments or tools that I’m looking for. Communication was excellent. Nothing to change, keep up the good work and thank you for the great service.
Useless Company
Ordered a keyboard online and it arrived broken due to being repackaged after being a store demo incorrectly so it moved in transit.
When I contacted them via reply email they said they’d repay my freight but could I drop it into a shop - There isn’t a rock shop where I live so I had to go to either Wellington or Palmerston North.
Nearly two weeks later and they've just refunded the freight and offered me either a shop demo from the same shop that packed the broken keyboard or one with a damaged box that hasn’t been opened.
I’ve asked the owner Mike Webb to discuss the culture at his business.
This is not the first time an online order has gone wrong and every time it does they act is such a way that it makes you suspect that they think you’ve broken it on purpose

Friendly staff
Friendly staff, Brilliant service with great product. Their passion about music suit me best.
Rude senior staff
So I was buying an balanced cable for my monitor and new electric piano with my small kid. The two young sales stuff help me with the RCA balanced cable. He also talked to me about the piano and ask me if do play piano because he saw me testing it. I said a little bit. That is an A+
Anyway after purchasing the cable I went to test the fidelity of the electric piano so that I can order 1. I let my Kid press one of the key of the non electric piano and me press the lower bass key of the electric piano to check if that electric piano has more hi fidelity definition sound. Guess what, the senior guy said we are not allowed to do that. The way he said it makes me feel so embarrassed. So I stop what I am doing and went out of the store. That will be my last purchase of this store. I should have a new keyboard today.
That attitude feels like driving out customers.
Shout out to Botany Rockshop!

I needed a guitar tremelo as the guitar…
I needed a guitar tremelo as the guitar I bought on TradeMe didnt come with one. I asked around online and Ryan at Wellington Rockshop found a spare, and invited me down to try it out. The nice man there installed it, and they gave it to me. Havnt had service like that for a very long time. You rock, Rock Shop Wellington.
Brilliant service
Brilliant service, my gear was packaged nicely to ensure no damage and as usual Frank and his staff went beyond to give the best service possible
Absolutely Stellar, Caring Service
Last weekend I had the most amazing experience buying my lovely Roland TD-17KVX2 electric drums from the Hutt City Rockshop.
A couple days before going in, I sent an email explaining my situation and asking if I could come in and really spend time on a demo kit to really get to know it.
When I arrived at the shop, Jesse came out from the back and asked "Are you Joe?" Turned out Andy at the Auckland shop had reached out to Hutt City and Wellington to make sure they had everything I needed in stock and to let them know I was coming.
This was such a great touch and helped me a lot. Jesse had a kit all set up for me. I had a list of questions, some of them pretty esoteric, and Jesse was able to answer them all. As I was playing, Jesse would be working excitedly to help me out. He set up an alternate hi-hat for me to try. When I found that it was not as responsive as I hoped, he looked up the calibration procedure.
I also had a list of hardware I needed. Jesse allowed me to look at all kinds of options and zero on all the right gear. They were out of stock on hi-hat stands and bass drum pedals, so he made sure they had what I wanted at the Wellington shop. I stopped there on my way home and the friendly staff there went above and beyond in the same way to help me pick the right stuff.
I've been a professional musician for most of my life, and I've spent a chunk of change at music stores before, but I've never been treated so well at a music shop in my life. I've been away from the instrument for 5 years and Jesse's enthusiasm really made me excited.
I'm so happy with this kit and I've been playing it non-stop.
Thanks very much Rockshop Hutt City and Wellington!
Brilliant team!
The whole Napier team are so helpful. Dave especially was great with the kids, helping inspire a love of music, while also making it accessible. So cool that they could explore and learn.
Really appreciated that they understood what we were after and sold us a piano that would meet our needs now and into the future.
