Romans of St Albans were an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to completion of my sale - David, who led my sale, was fantastic to work with, and the whole team were excellent throughout.
Extremely bad experience with Romans of St Albans, over a month since they sold my car on sale or return and I still haven’t had my money.
First they took my car on a sale or return basis and told me they had active buyers and have high hopes to sell it quickly, to then have the car for 3 months and push me £7,000 down to sell the car. Telling me that they had a lot of timewasters and dreamers interested before finally selling it.
After the sale, I had issues where the finance company couldn’t find the payment made and I haven’t had any payment. After spending hours with the Finance company we came to realise that John Falletta the owner put the wrong payment reference down which meant it couldn’t be allocated, throughout that experience John kept pushing me saying he’s done everything correctly, which he didn’t.
It's been over 30 days since the car was sold and still no payment. The owner has been rude, abrupt and pushing me to speak with his bank about the matter as he has made the payment, to which I’ve explained his bank has nothing to do with me, I’m his customer and just need paid. Nevertheless, I’ve spoken with his bank manager and was told to wait 21 days whilst they investigate, to which I accepted the reality and just waited, it’s now been 26 days and still nothing and no payment and I had to chase it up with John. I called John and he didn’t even recognise my name, I had to tell him the situation again (great to see he’s on top it). John actually promised me on the first day they couldn’t find the payment to me that if it doesn’t show up in my account he’ll make the payment again as it’s not fair on me as the customer, 1 hour later he changed his story and said he wants to but his bank manager isn’t letting him make payment (never heard of a bank that tells you how to conduct business).
John requested proof of my bank to which I sent proof to show no money has came in. He also asked me to call my bank and ask them for any pending incoming payment, which I did and they said there is nothing pending.
I’m now being accused over email of being ‘scammy’ (even though they've had my car and have had my bank statements) and have been told by John the owner that he is speaking with his legal advisor, still no payment, which I’m owed a couple thousand and still being told by John to speak with his bank manager as it’s nothing to do with him.
Also, What’s app messages have been blocked going to John and my number when calling. had to borrow a phone just to call and speak with him.
Really bad experience and huge concerns that it’s going to be another GVE, just hope to get my money paid out.
Currently at letter before action stage and will be proceeding legally if not paid.
