I was happy with the process and …

I was happy with the process and pricing, whoever I was not happy with some of the hotels. First I arrived in Rome and was unable to get into the hotel, no one answered. I was left standing outside in the dark, I had to call Route Perfect cust. service to gain access. Second I booked a moderate expense trip and some of the hotels I stayed were more like a hosts hotel, I was not very happy and one in Naples I was not even comfortable sleeping in the bed, I was worried about bed bugs. But over all I had a great trip.

However, it's important to note that our site has to maintain hotels of all types for travelers to choose from, and does not choose hotels on anyone's behalf because we feel it's very important to choose hotels that reflect your personal interests. In order to enable this, each hotel is listed with different room types, facilities, a map view, and user reviews to let you know if the hotel's quality matches their presentation based on other peoples experiences. Often, you can find recent accounts of issues such as bed bugs listed here as a warning.

Most importantly, the time that you book plays a huge role in which hotels will fit into your selected budget. Each budget we offer reflects current rates available as much as it reflects hotel quality. Since booking close to travel dates means you will be booking a more expensive package, the quality of the hotels which fit into the moderate budget will naturally decrease to match your economic preference. In your case, the trip was booked only 2 weeks before the travel dates, which means there were much fewer good rates and good quality hotels were harder to fit into the moderate budget. Booking 2+ months ahead of time can really improve the rates and availability of your hotel options!

In the future, we would truly love to work with you ahead of time to make sure that the quality of your selected hotels matches your expectations as much as possible, so please be sure to let us know!

Half of my experience was absolutely great…

Half of my experience was absolutely great, programing my trip by the hand of routeperfect, was really great!!!
On the other hand I had in my entire trip (16 nights) 2 absolutely terrible hotel nights, 2 terrible experience in so "called" "hotels", but they weren't. No front desk, scary and dangerous spots. That was really a bad experience, had to book on the fly hotels that costed more than I was willing to pay but had no choice. What I thought we save with routperfect, we spend it that 2 nights.

We truly regret that there were any such surprises on your trip, however it's important to note that many hotels/BnB's have restricted check-in hours, which should be listed on our site ahead of time when you are selecting your hotels, or at the very least on their own sites. Though we wish we could erase the bad past experiences, we hope at least this information will be helpful in the future before making new bookings.

Last minute reservations are extremely expensive, and we truly regret that you ultimately resorted to this. Next time we hope you will contact support for assistance, as if there had been any faulty information on our site we would have absolutely compensated your stay in new accommodations.

Some hotels were very disappointing

Some hotels were very disappointing. The Paris one location was horrible. I spend a lot os euros in Uber to go the the city, very limited restaurant options around the hotel.
The Hotel in Basel on the other hand was great. Great room, great location, very very clean.
The B&B in Venice was a trash!!!! Mold all over the bathroom, no air conditioning not even a fan! Very cheap linen and towels. It was really hard to find the place. The B&B owner said Routeperfrct had the instructions to get there, but we never received any! The only thing I was happy with was the location. I hated the place so much that I wrote an email for the Route Perfect and got NO answer. Very bad service from you guys. We were so angry that we cut the Venice stay short and left earlier than planned.
The Hotel in Florence was ok. Excellent location, clean, reasonably price continental breakfast, nice staff.
The same with Anthony B&B in Rome. The location wasn't good but the metro station nearby was a great help and since we could park safelyin the street, that didn't bother us as much.

If someone asks me if I would recommend your services, I would answer no! I believe I could have better deals and better options at other traveling websites.

We proceeded to open the case for you despite this, and contacted you afterwards to inform you of the outcome, which was unfortunately not in your favor as there was a lack of sufficient evidence to support it; because we did not have any reply from you, we could not push the case further.

Easy and Simple to use

Great experience with RoutePerfect

Great experience with RoutePerfect. The hotel locations were often a little further away from the "action" but that was fine by us. It allowed us to walk a bit and get exposed to more of each city than just the tourist areas. We went to 4 cities in 2 countries and had no issues. Thank you and can't wait for our next trip with you all.

Worst experience I ever had with a travel company. Booked me at the wrong hotel in a totally different part of the country. Took zero responsibility and made me pay the difference in cost, which was $600 extra dollars. Awful company.

Could have been much better

RoutePerfect is far from perfect. When trying to create a trip you are all the time overruled by the program, which untimely suggests places that never had entered your mind as places you had wanted to go. Those often pretty weird places will later be stored as unwanted places on the initierary instead of being deleted completely.

The suggested hotels are often limited to a few which do not include the ones you have found on your own, and there doesn't seem to be a way to include such personal choises. There are futhermore not possible to personalize wishes about a hotel room, for instance if you would like to have two single beds instead of the narrow two persons beds too often offered to guests seeking comfort.

A very good thing about the program is that it tells the distance between the places you'd like to travel but it doesn't consider that different people may choose to drive at different speeds when it calculates to the minute the time one will spend on the road. It would be nice to know what speed is used to calculate the trip's time. Does it perhaps mean a car driven at exacly the allowed maximum speed all the way?

Personally I think a good traveller's program should give the user road alternatives, as a GPS does. When on holiday lots of people would like to stay away from motorways at least part of the time to allow for changes of scenery and impromptu stops at places that suddenly seem attractive. It's true that the program may suggest sights along the route, but these sights are often far too far from the preffered road one travels and can easily double the distance if one doesen't pay attention.

The program is basically a good idea, but it lacks to much compared to what it could have been. The graphics are maybe meant to be a bit merry and festive, but to a lot of people it probably looks rather oldfashioned. Fonts in a program like this should be simple and easy read as a means to make the whole thing more pracical and userfriendly.

We appreciate you taking the time to list your reflection on our program in detail, as you make many good points, which I will address here in order for further understanding between us!

Regarding our planner, we have two different planning settings: Auto and Manual. In Auto mode works as you described above, as it's designed to create a trip for people who do not know where they want to go. Manual mode works as you explained you would prefer our site to work, and is designed for people who know where they want to go already! It seems the planning mode option went unnoticed in this case, but you can always read about it further in our FAQs.

Regarding room types, the specific bedding is actually listed with the room before booking, so it's totally your choice! Rooms will either be labeled with room type, bedding type, or both. You can also find more information about this readily available in our FAQs.

Regarding hotel options, our site only works with hotels who have offered discounted rates as part of our mission is to help people find affordable accommodations. As such, we cannot include every hotel in our system, but we do work with hundreds of suppliers and have around 350,000 hotels to choose from.

Regarding the distance, our calculations are based on either public transportation schedules or the speed limits of the #1 recommended routes. Unfortunately, we cannot list multiple distances and estimations.

Regarding our graphics - we do in fact totally agree that the site was outdated, which is why we were working the better part of last year on a new design, which has now been launched! We hope you'll come check it out, and contact our support if you have any planning questions that we may be able to help you resolve ahead of time.

Be wary of the hotels

Be wary of the hotels, though we chose a moderate budget, the hotels were very variable in standards. Some of them particularly the one that was selected in Berlin did not even have basic services including toiletries in the bathroom....

Further to my review under i can …

Further to my review under i can confirm that both Danny and Jake have been in contact with me regarding the issues i had .
i have accepted their explanation and a full refund is now in my account.
i was probably just unlucky with the two hotels that i had booked and having been emailed by both Danny and Jake i can now state that they handled the problem in a fair and professional manner.
it is only fair that if i put in a critical review i now also advise that they have handled the complaint fairly and that is a big positive.
The question remains would i book with them again ..........
Given they way they have handled this problem , yes i would.
