Think long and hard before you decide to have treatment for your pet. My dog so say had 2 mast cell tumours after having them biopsied
So went ahead with the advice to get them removed. So putting my 10 year old dog through the stress and trauma of having an operation only to be told they were benign! One tumour disappeared and they removed the other one which was a fatty lump. Cancer just doesn’t disappear. Very suspicious of this company. The staff are nice. That’s it. My dog had an operation needlessly. This company does not care about your pets just how much money they can get from you. Disgraceful

The rip off company

The consultation lasted no more than 3 minutes. I didn’t receive any treatment, yet I was charged £67. For what? Just for being told, "Don’t worry, the dog is fine"? To be honest, I didn’t expect to be charged unless something was done, but for simply being told "Hello, nothing to worry about, bye," it's extremely expensive!

I’m not sure why I had different expectations from them, considering this wasn’t the first time they’ve charged me for doing nothing. Maybe it’s time to remind them of the COVID period when they charged clients for pet health memberships but didn’t honor the contract.

These as a veterinary surgery should…WORST EVER VETS AND ROBBERS IN DISGUISE!!!!

These as a veterinary surgery should not even be in business and I would think the only reason they are is because how they RIP PEOPLE OFF..Our cat went to this TERRIBLE place !!!!!! We were told she had an infection but they CONVENIENTLY COULDNT TELL US HOW OR ANY IDEA WHAT THE SO CALLED INFECTION WAS!!!!!!could never say what type of infection so they carried out all sorts of TESTS without even asking if we wanted to go ahead with any these TESTS !!!! THEN THEY CALL AND SAY THEY HAVE CARRIED OUT A SCAN FOR £675..........CRAZY CRAZY ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SAY THE MAXIMUM THEY CHARGE IS APPROX £300 IF ITS AN EMERGENCY SCAN!!!!!! WHICH THIS WASN'T THEN WE HAD A FEMALE VET CALLED NIKKI...' REMEMBER THAT NAME' !!!! CALLING US TELLING US OUR CAT ' WASNT EATING MUCH AND TEMPERATURE WAS SLIGHTLY UP & DOWN SO SHE FELT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO KEEP HER IN OVERNIGHT FOR APPROX £300-£400 !!!!!!! I THEN ASK HER ONCE SHE TOLD ME THAT OUR CATS TEMPERATURE WAS 38.7 BUT WANTED IT TO BE 38.2 BEFORE SHE COULD COME HOME!!! SO I ASK HER IF THIS WAS SERIOUS AND LIFE THREATENING AND SHE '' NO '' YOU CAN COLLECT HER AND GIVE HER THE MEDICATION PROVIDED SO WE PICKED HER UP SUNDAY 29TH JUNE 2025 AFTER 2 NIGHTS AND THESE ROBBERS WANT £2650 !!!!!!!!! WE ARE NOT PAYING UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND WILL GO AS FAR AS IT TAKES TO SHOW HOW BAD THIS LOT REALLY ARE !!!!! " BANK ROBBERS IN DISGUISE "
STAY AWAY AND DONT EVER USE !!!!!

Job worth hats to receptionist

It’s surprising the amount of people that are dissatisfied with Rowe Vetinary Practice. Have had NO issues with the VETS themselves
ITS THERE POLICYS AND RECEPTION STAFF
That " WEAR the jobs worth hat". would not recommend Rowe Vetinary Group.

Absolute shit show

We had our 14 year old dog put to sleep 16/5/25 at Winterbourne and paid for him to be cremated and put in a casket. After a week or so I kept ringing to see if he was back yet. I kept getting told no then there had been a mix up and they didn't know what had happened. After my email 11/6/25 I was told he'd just been delivered back to Bradley stoke for some reason. My husband when to collect him and was told they didn't know where he was! Eventually he was located and brought home 12/6.
We have had so much distress over this wondering where he was and how could they of lost our gorgeous pup. To think of him stored in a freezer like a discarded pack of peas is disgusting. Where was the respect and duty of care for him and his family.
We have no official apology at all. Do not trust these people with your beloved pets.

This vets needs to be closed down with…

This vets needs to be closed down with how they treat some animals, all animals deserve to be helped when it is an emergency and you are sent there by your vets, my prised possession was made to suffer and die at home being turned away with the woman on the phone being rude and kept me waiting for 15min on the phone i was 5 mins away in a panic as to what was wrong with my Cat i can't be sure but i think her leg was broken or injured, only question they asked was if she had any bleeding to which i said not that i can see, she suffered over the next 6 half hours on my bed and bleed out at the end and she fitted a few minutes before she crossed the rainbow bridge it broke my heart to watch this, all i could do was cry & keep talking to her please stay, (Hayley Brimble) i read your post and if you need i will be your witness your case was worse than mine, broke me in two what i went through but to be in the waiting room and no one helped, its horrifying as to which animal they don't want to help, they have taken more than £5,000 in one transaction when i called to collect in the past they gave me the wrong pets information and said they did over the phone, this is NOT what you want to hear. AVOID AT ALL COSTS i do NOT recommend them none of my friends or Family either will ever use them again, this has caused such a deep depression feeling i was not able to help her.

Sales people and not vets that care…

Sales people and not vets that care about animals, the “annual health check” is an excuse to get the animal in for consultations and put them on medicine (overpriced medicine). Always pushing pet health club and after you join they try an upgrade to the premium club, as the standard doesn’t include much!

Read all the other reviews and find a different vet that is not sales focused!

Outstanding Care by a Professional & Compassionate Te

My miniature sausage dog slipped a disk and required immediate care. I was referred by my local vet to Rowe Vets in Wotton Under Edge. From first contact everything was handled with speed, professionalism and compassion. Sonya was excellent at explaining everything to me and ensuring I was booked in the following morning. Ian, the vet, took his time examining Molly and later that afternoon operated on her. She was then transferred to the hospital in Bradley Stoke where she spent 2 nights. Molly is an extremely nervous dog but her care was exemplary. She is better now at being handled than before which is proof of how well she was looked after. It is now 4 weeks post op and she's doing remarkably well.
I can honestly say that from my personal experience, I couldn't have had better care. Both the way I was looked after as the owner, and of course the way Molly was looked after. If I lived closer I wouldn't hesitate to register Molly permanently at the practice in Wotton under Edge. Thank you to all who helped look after Molly. :)

Not vets that care about the animal

Over priced. £360 for a consultation. These are not vets that care about your poorly animal. They are CORPORATE, which means they have targets to meet. Certain number of operations to do a month. They have to make money , that's what they are about now. I took my animals away from them as they added to the death of my sweet dog. I'm annoyed as this seems the only out of hours vet. And I would never use them!

Absolutely disgusting treatment from…

Absolutely disgusting treatment from Rowe. Always used them years ago but there is no care for your pets now. Took my dog in as my vet said she needed overnight care & to be put on a drip.
The vet we saw was told us they would scan her in the morning to see if it was cancer an we would get an update at 7-9 am of how she had been overnight.
No one called so I called them & they said they were busy so someone would call me.
They called at 10 am and very rude lady told me that i needed to collect her & take her back to Emerson’s green.
I said I’m confused, I brought here for you to continue the scan as they have an mri & ct scanner that they brag about on their phone message.

She said no she needs to go back to Emerson’s vet so when can you collect her?

After reading all these reviews I know why my vets stopped using them as their chosen overnight care vets.
They really don’t care for animals an I wish I hadn’t taken my baby to them.

Avoid at all costs if you care about your pets.

Rowe Vets neglect pets

Wow I have just seen that many pet owners have the same distraught feelings reflected in their own reviews here.

Rowe vets refused my little boy emergency care twice, on the third call I forced the issue to bring him in. However they still let him down resulting in horrific suffering. After many visits of me highlighting I thought he had been poisoned, they did zero blood tests, I told them he was coughing up blood, they did nothing, He then bled out in
their reception whilst they left us there with no one helping for 10 maybe 15 minutes. He flooded the reception with blood and not one vet cam rushing to see him. He died by the following morning. He was neglected by rowes.
My next step unfortunately is legal action from which I will probably lose everything I own, but have to do the right thing. Especially having seen these other reviews that this is not a one off oversight.
In contrast I moved his brother to another vets and he finally has a diagnosis for issues I have been asking rowes about for sometime but no help. They wanted him to have a risky operation to investigate costing 4k plus, and it turned out to be a simple allergy that could have been tested easily.

Friendly and welcoming

I took my cats into Rowe (Wotton) on 4/10/2024 for their annual check up and injections.
The receptionists were very friendly and welcoming.
The vet/nurse was very helpful and gave us some good pointers When asking questions about my older
Cat.
Glad
We made the decision to change vets and go to Rowe.

Very, very expensive

Vet care ok as long as you get the same people each time. Cost is horrendous and increasing massively each year. £32 for a subscription just to press print on the PC is taking the you know what. Always need to ask why a certain course of treatment is needed as they seem to just jump to the highest cost solution without taking into account overall cost/benefit, or the age of the animal. Would change if there were any alternative.

Another over priced Veterinary Group…

Another over priced Veterinary Group swallowing up small independent Vets for profit, they need to be referred to the Monopolies Commission, a cartel of over unspecified over pricing, a licence to print money, my recent visit worked out at £6.50 a minute!, thats plastic surgery pricing. I Asked for a prescription so I could get the medication online 65% cheaper to keep the cost down, I was then informed the prescription cost £32, (£15 at a local independent vet), profit before care, so sad for the pets who owners trying to do the best for their pets. Shame on you! - 0 star!

Shop around.

2021 review..!!!
I can only speak with regards to the Wotton branch of Rowe and my experience at that time.
I used them for a few years religiously as local and seemed to have acceptable service to begin with, never been cheap but not a huge difference between others in the area. Then Covid hit… and things were hard communication wise as they operated differently but that wasn’t a big issue at all, it must be quite honestly covid and it’s knock on effects is not an excuse for any of the following. We had a litter of 8 puppies and as b**** had been registered with them I felt it a good idea for the litter to be handled by Rowe too. We had several dogs on their monthly plans so supporting them already and never swayed from their service. We were in communication ahead of the birth, all prescribed wormers for mum & litter went through Rowe at triple the cost of what I could pay online.. not the main issue but looking back I should of put my pocket first. Fast forward to pups 8 weeks of age and the morning of their vaccinations/health check.. This appointment had been set 7 weeks prior!!!!
ROWE CANCELLED. With ONE HOURS NOTICE on - the - day. I received a call to say that they’d had an emergency come in and they didn’t have enough vets/staff to cover my appointment. Soooooo I had a situation of 8 puppy buyers who were eagerly awaiting pick up that afternoon and I had to phone each one up to tell them my registered vet practice had just bailed on the day. No apology, no “if things change we’ll be in contact and try our best to fit you in later in the day” NOTHING. Safe to say, I dropped them like a ball and found a new local surgery who squeezed me in that afternoon and di a sterling job at handling, health checks and registering all my dogs including the post pregnancy b**** within 15 minutes.

Shop around. Don’t be fooled. Go where your money and loyalty is appreciated. I should have wrote this at the time but having used several different vets after moving locations in the last 3 years since I’ve realised just how common GOOD service actually is. They may be under new management or ownership now but be wary.

How can they justify the cost??

Efficiently friendly, but SO EXPENSIVE!
A 5 minute (at most) consultation consisting of a bodily check, temperature check and a prescription for 10ml of Metacam was just shy of £90!!
I just can’t see how that amount of treatment can cost that amount of money??!
No wonder pets are being abandoned so regularly with prices like this.
It would help if Rowe broke down what costs what, at least it would give some indication of where and how you’re being ripped off and give you the opportunity to challenge them.
I love my dogs, but I don’t love Rowe.
