Royalton Grenada has a lot of improvements to make.

Arrival
We were warmly welcomed by Elena at reception, the check-in process was smooth and efficient.
Although we did not receive a complimentary drink upon arrival, the overall experience from check-in to being escorted to our room was positive.
We were lucky enough to have a room very close to the reception and main entrance.

Room 🛌
We were booked in as a couple for our Anniversary, there was only one bath robe in the room.
The room, though small, was very clean and beautifully maintained. However, the bathroom lacked hand wash and shower gel, although shampoo and conditioner were provided. The towels were in excellent condition, and the shower was particularly impressive.
We had the most beautiful view from our balcony, it was mesmerising 😍
Our room was cleaned daily.
Alena was a true gem, she kept our room spotless every single day! Lovely lady with a wonderful smile.
Shower gel had run out for the whole duration of our stay.

Food 🍴🍸
The decor at the Taj was beautiful yet the food was disgusting! The food was bland, the cocktails were a 5/10 but most of the staff were lovely.

Ma Maison
The lady that checks the booking was so miserable, if looks could kill!!!! 😫
Steak was amazing, the chips were dry.

Grazie
The steak was soooo amazing! 😍
The cocktails were ok.

Beach cleanliness
Very clean and beautiful 😍

Staff
The majority of the staff were lovely, a few looked like they didn't want to be there, very miserable.
Adrian at the egg station was amazing, such beautiful energy.
Danielle in entertainment was super lovely, her energy was top tier 👌🏾

Excursions
Janelle is fantastic!!!! 😊

Island Tour
We chose St James Travel and Tour for our excursions, Andy gave us a wealth of information, we had a full run down of the history of Grenada and every stop we done.
We done the Island excursions, this covered Concord Waterfall ⛲️
Chocolate Factory 🍫
Rum Distillery 🥃
Grand Etang 🐒
Nutmeg Museum, a lovely meal and drink.
The excursions cost £125pp.
The mini bus was fully air conditioned and clean.

Our second excursions was snorkeling to the Underwater sculpture Park with First Impression snorkeling, this was an experience of a lifetime! The whole team were amazing, especially Kurl who instructed me through the whole tour.

Exercise 🏊‍♀️ 🧘‍♀️ 🏋‍♀️
Crystal and Kelson were absolutely amazing with the aqua aerobics!!! The energy was on point, it was fun yet intense.
I will definitely be attending all their classes over the next 2 weeks.

Issues we encountered.... 😖🫥😶

Monday, 21st and Tuesday, 22nd: The buffet was unexpectedly closed on both days, and we were not informed of this until the day.

Tuesday, 23rd, Wednesday, 24th and Wednesday 30th:
We were informed that the hotel had run out of straws.

Wednesday, 24th:
While I was showering, the water unexpectedly cut off for over 10 minutes, leaving me covered in soap and unable to rinse off.

Thursday, 26th:
I requested an iron twice as we were preparing for an excursion. After waiting for over an hour, I had to make a third call and express my frustration to avoid missing the excursion. Only then did the iron arrive.

Upon our arrival on Saturday, 19th, our fridge was fully stocked, but this was the only day this occurred.
While the fridge was replenished daily with water, we went four days without beer or juice despite leaving a note on several occasions.
Each time, the note was clearly seen as the $5 tip I left with it was taken, yet the issue persisted. Beers were finally provided on Thursday, 24th.

Friday 25th
On Friday, the 25th at 3 a.m., I placed an order for room service. After waiting for an hour and 20 minutes without receiving the order, I called to inquire about its status. The representative I spoke to informed me that they were unaware of the order and needed to investigate. Upon checking, I was told that two of the items we had ordered were unavailable. Had I not followed up with the call, we likely would not have received the order at all.
The order arrived, yet they forgot my cheesecake.
Room service do not inform you of unavailable items until they confirm that your order is on its way.
If we had been informed earlier of unavailable items, we could of made alternative choices.
We ordered room service 4 times, items were missing every single time.

Omega at Nibbles needs customer service training! She was so miserable!

Disappointed with Royalton St lucia

Really disappointed with the Royalton in St Lucia. Check in was long, wasn't advised to download the app or book restaurants which we actually needed to do...The room needed to be fumigated due to a Mosquito infestation and cockroaches, hair left on the floor. This was rectified once we complained. No optics in the room and the bar was rarely re-stocked. Entertainment was cancelled regularly due to nobody signing up but the team didn't approach anybody, shouting over a microphone is not going to draw people in. Pool and loungers were dirty. Food was samey.
Thank god for Craig at the pool bar, Kisha, Vijay and Travis in entertainment. Desma at the pool bar needs relocating as she doesnt fit the vibe, she is too rude and miserable.

VERY DISAPPOINTED DISICION

I arranged a holiday for me and my mum to return back to Antigua where my mum was born. I was turning 55 on 16/09/2024 and Mum was turning 85 on the 25/09/2024
I chose for us to go to Royalton Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort. i wanted to give my mum the 5 star experience. I booked 10 nights - I would have to admit that it was my worst choice I have ever made. I changed room twice - one of the rooms the shower unit was leaking, when you had a showed all the bathroom floor was soaking wet which was very hazardous for an 85-year-old women. After reporting a number of times over 2 days finally they came to the room, they were unable to repair the shower and we was moved. The food/service was well below the level of expectation, not all the restaurant that was stated on TUI web site was not open. The restaurants that was open had a limited choice. Then you had to make a reservation via an app that was not working. The buffet style dinner restaurant was only open 2 night throughout the 10 nights we was there. The hotel is not made for the elderly to walk to any of the eateries is minimum of 10 min walk. The room temperature with either cold or freezing cold. THE WHOLE HOILDAY WAS HORRIABLE ....... I feel embarrassed for my poor choice, spoiled an experience that i will NEVER get back. I am still waiting on my refund for my deposit US$200 that was taken from Credit Card 8 days after returning home.

Counterfeit Cuban Cigars Sales

Royalton (CHIC) Resort - Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Although, Royalton Resorts provide a facility to buy genuine Cuban Cigar for their clients, be very careful when buying Cigars from this particular Cigar Shop/Lounge as some Cigars are counterfeit and do not match the Habanos validity product standards and some boxes have fake labelling and product inside, so make sure you take a Cigar Inpector tool kit if you are looking to Buy from one to these shops.
Also, the shop says they guarantee there product and i bought +$4,500 worth of cigars in June-24 and i am still waiting for replacements. Royalton Resorts also do not get involved, which i find is strange considering the Cigar Lounge is actually a service provided by the Resort, just be careful and do your own due diligence because it could be very costly

Definately not 5 Star

My husband and me have recently returned from The Hideaway at Royalton, Trewlany. We stayed from 23rd June - 3rd July in Room 633.
We went to this hotel because we had previously stayed in the Royalton in Cancun Mexico and expected the same 5 Star service, but how wrong could we be. The service in this hotel was non existent, awful , dreadful and it is definitely not a 5 Star hotel !!
To sum the service up, the Jamaican staff will only do what they are paid to do and nothing else. For example, we watched 4 staff walk past a water bottle which had been left on a path, before someone picked it up (it must have been their job!). There is a lady in the International restaurant that just walks around with a water jug – she rarely did anything else!
Service for Breakfast/Lunch in the International Restaurant is truly unbelievable. Most times we had finished our breakfast before being offered any coffee. Tables are not cleared and re-laid quickly so we would often sit at a table and had to find our own cutlery. You never get a spoon to stir sugar in to your coffee (if you ever get one). They stack plates and cutlery up at the side for you to look at when you are eating. There are plenty of staff but many of them just walk past tables that need clearing, wiping or re- laying, - it goes back to what I saying, they only do what they are paid to do and nothing else.
The service at Reception is appalling. They will start dealing with your query and then get very easily distracted or disappear into the back room, they leave you wondering what is happening, they don't keep you informed and even when they have dealt with your query, they don't tell you that they have!
The food overall was very good with a great choice of 11 restaurants. I would recommend the International Buffet (for the food, not the service), Italian and the Steakhouse. But if you want a quiet, relaxing meal then don’t go to Zen. We thought the food was tasteless and the loud singing and banging of knives was extremely annoying.
The rooms were a bit shabby and could do with painting in certain areas. The cleaners were BRILLIANT though and cleaned our room every day. They were friendly and polite and did a great job.
You can get lovely coffee and cakes from the coffee shop. But the service is not quick because the staff tend to spend most of their time talking to one another before they get round to serving you - apart from one young slim, tall gentleman that works in there and he was always polite and friendly.
The beach was gorgeous, it was kept clean and there were plenty of sun loungers and towels. The team that look after the sun lounges and drinks were very happy, cheerful and friendly doing the jobs they were paid to do.
There are plenty of security guards on the beach but I really don't know what they do. They certainly do not stop all the very annoying sellers that walk up and down the beach all day and will try anything to get your attention – ie. Pointing, whistling, shouting. It would be so much better if the Royalton staff stopped them coming onto the beach.
On numerous occasions we were asked by various life guard staff, if we had a cigarette which we could give them. Not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel!!
My husband and me will definitely not be going back to this hotel and I really feel that all Royalton’s should provide the same high level of service which ever country you are in.

Enter at your own risk, this place is disgusting.

So I went to the resort in DR during the weekend of the 4th of July. These past 4 days has been the worse days I ever encountered. As soon as I arrived I slipped and fell in the dining room area. The used some type of coating that was very slippery. I was ignorant of writing an incident report and they used that against me later. Next, one of my friends had a roach in their room(Diamond Club Room), Then I sat in a broken chair in the Italian restaurant and fell. Lastly, I cut my foot on their step in the pool and they refused to cover any of the medial charges.

Pedrito the manager was suppose to meet with me in the morning because I wanted a picture of my foot which I know they have because 20 people took a picture of it and suddenly he's in a meeting. Pedrito also said that none of my other incidents matter because there were no reports even though his staff never gave me any option to write a report. I had to get 5 stitches in my foot and another lady cut her shoulder. He refused to do anything to help me get the pictures of my foot, or any compensation for anything. I was forced to pay out of pocket! This place is filthy and I wouldn't want anyone to go to this place. Let's see if I even get my $200 they asked for the room. I asked for a number and they gave me an email smh. I will never go back.

Mis sold holiday from Royalton Chic Antigua and Tui

We stayed at the Royalton Chic Antigua between the 2nd and 16th of May 2024
When we arrived we were told to expect the unexpected but we didn’t even receive what we were expecting or expected to get what we got.
This review is written with absolute disappointment and honesty. A new so called 5 star hotel/resort and not to mention the poor response we received through our complaints/concerns and issues, from the overall General Manager at Royalton Chic Antigua or Tui and Tui Rep throughout our stay and since.
We spoke with Mr G of Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association onsite, who told us he would pay for a transfer to a 5 star hotel at any cost . He told us unfortunately he had to get this hotel open and run with it and pay the consequences for when the World Cup cricket commences in June and that he couldn’t promise that our experience would improve by the time we left. He made Tui aware of this but Tui didn’t come up with his offer.
We furthermore remained hopeful of Tui reimbursing and compensating us on our return, although it seems loyalty means nothing to Tui.
Unfortunately, we were not informed prior to travel that we could have had this holiday cancelled and fully refunded or offered an alternate hotel as some customers were, due to incomplete and ongoing building work. Bearing in mind we also contacted Tui 29th April 2024 to ask if this hotel was complete and ready to accept guests and we were told they were.
We have travelled the world for over 25 years and have never complained, we understand there are teething problems with new hotels.
We have visited the Royalton St Lucia twice and their standards outweigh this hotel. Even the standard room at St Lucia knocks the spots off the Diamond Club room at this resort.
They mentioned 7 restaurants and 5 bars on their website.
Only 2 of the 7 restaurants advertised opened daily along with the buffet. However, the buffet closed for lunch and evening meals the last week of our stay. The beach bar never opened the whole time we were there. The sports club never served drinks or food. The overwater restaurant was only available to Diamond Club members or paying guests and not as advertised prior to our visit.
The Taboo Bar should have opened between 10.00 - 23.00 but didn’t open until 17.00 at the earliest.
The rolls and sandwiches at Insomnia cafe were stale/hard by lunchtime.
We were served cold/incorrect food or waited up to 2 hours for orders at the restaurants or never received our orders at all.
We paid full price for a luxury 5 star experience and received less than advertised. We were mis sold this long awaited break by Royalton and Tui.
We endured 2 floods whilst there due to inadequate drainage at this part new build/renovated property.
We had to wade through sewage/rainwater/mud to get back to our room. Ground floor rooms were flooded. The roofs on first floor restaurants leaked.
One of the affected pools was left full and hoovered/with chemicals added for 5 days to rid the bacteria. The jacuzzi was emptied and left unattended until refilled later that day. So many issues that we cannot mention them all.

In the meantime, we would like to give a big shout out to the frontline staff who tried to their best and we thank them and to the beach vendors who helped us out with trips.
The resort was short staffed so please be patient with the frontline workers as they are under pressure and embarrassed and are doing their best ❤️
If there were as many staff as were construction workers (350 construction workers we were told - creating extremely loud noise day and night throughout our stay) the frontline workers would have been able to cope better had they had the facilities/ingredients and adequate training to do so.
If you’re visiting this hotel in the near future then please be careful of the health and safety issues here. We reported so many whilst here of which weren’t addressed. Hopefully nobody gets hurt at this resort but should the case arise then we have photo and video evidence of all the health and safety issues we reported/recorded. We also have photo and video evidence of the restaurants and bars that were not open and of all the other issues we encountered to back us up.

DANGEROUS PLACE FOR A SOLO SINGLE WOMAN TRIP

I had a great flight and my first couple of days in Havana hotel was great, friendly people and more importantly IF YOUR TRAVELLING ALONE I had access to wifi.
I WRITE THIS AS IT HAPPENED .
so apologies for spelling errors
I then came to HOTEL VARADERO 😱
No WIFI AT ALL IN THE ROOMS or around the resort , it barely works in the reception area .
I SAY THIS AS ITS DANGEROUS FOR A SINGLE WOMEN TO BE MORE VULNERABLE AND NOT SAFE .
You can’t call for help ??
You can’t talk with your love ones ?
You can’t get any messages?
(If you want to go someone secluded then this is the place for you).

A man followed me to my hotel room (pictures will be included as I filmed him
From the peephole )
I walked back to my room 9pm and closed my door . There was knocking and someone saying lady open up.
He then started to shout - OPEN UP THE DOOR.
I was so scared I tried messaging the butler (SILLY ME NO WIFI) I totally forgot the room phone .
I waited for a while and armed myself with a bottle and a hanger and opened the door.
He was not there
I ran to reception crying and asking for help ???
They took a while but security guard came and I told him the whole story .

We went to the restaurant to find out his room number ,
I asked to be moved for me to feel safe ….i was told don’t worry we will post a security guard outside your door ???
The butler cam back and said don’t worry I will stay with you .
He asked me if he could get me something, I said yes a drink please.
That was at 9.30pm ….
BRYAN THE BULTER NEVER CAME BACK 😱😢 he Abandoned me to my fate.
I could not sleep all night and when I opened the door to my Surprise, there was no security guard outside outside the door.
THIS IS A VULNERABLE SITUATION FOR A SINGLE WOMEN TO BE IN.
Not safe at all.
No reception call to see if I am ok , did you sleep okay - nothing .
I had to stay in my room for my own protection (wasting my money , time , enjoyment etc).

I have now armed myself with a spray bottle and a water bottle just in case I have to protect myself again .

My warning ⚠️ to all single or solo travellers is this
1. DO NOT STAY IN A HOTEL THAT DOSE NOT HAVE WIFI IN THE ROOMS
2 DO NOT HAVE ICE WITH YOUR DRINKS AS ITS TAP WATER.
3 people have gone down with tummy issues.
3. MAKE SURE YOU TRAVEL WITH PROTECTION
4. MAKE SURE YOUR ROOM
IS AT THE FRONT AND NOT AT THE BACK OF THE HOTEL - no one will hear you if in trouble- especially if the neighbours are out in the complex
5. DO NOT BOOK INTO ANY HOTEL THAT DOSE NOT HAVE CAMERAS 🎥 no one will see the CRIME.
6. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS CHARGED.

Still this morning no one has approached me to see if I am okay
I want to leave as I don’t feel safe here but it lands on deaf ears
I am so scared right now
I have to make sure I don’t walk in quite places, have to keep looking behind my back just in case he try’s something
This may be my first and last solo trip. UPDATE I still was not informed as to what actions they took in regards to this man following me, nothing was done.
Please make sure you get the love Cuba information when you arrive as its important information that could really help you out. AGAIN the hotel failed to share this information leaflet which is diabolical considering it has all the numbers & names of who you can reach.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: A Mixed Experience

My party of 9 recently stayed at the Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun for 10 days in April 2024. Overall, our experience was a mix of highs and lows. Let me break it down:
The Good
1. Proximity to the Airport: The hotel’s location, just a 20-minute transfer from the airport, was incredibly convenient.
2. Fitness Facilities: As someone who has stayed at various hotels of this style, I can confidently say that the gym, fitness classes, and instructors at the Royalton Hideaway were exceptional. Kudos to the fitness team!
3. Entertainment and Activities: The entertainment team did an excellent job. There was something for everyone, and even those who preferred a quieter experience found peaceful spots in the resort. The Vibe team deserves special mention for their engaging activities.
4. Spa: The spa facilities were top-notch. We indulged in all-over body massages, which were worth every penny. Remember to negotiate with the spa sellers by the sunbeds for better prices.
5. Pool and Layout: The pools were pleasant, although a tad cold. The overall layout of the hotel worked well, and there were always sunbeds available.
6. Coffee and Ice Cream: The coffee and ice cream parlour was a delightful treat, with little to no queues.
The Okay
1. Restaurants: The dining experience varied. The Japanese restaurant stood out, especially the Hibachi table. The buffet was consistently good. The food at the steak restaurant was good but cold plates meant the food cooled quickly. The Italian restaurant was OK, while the Mexican, Indian, and Caribbean restaurants fell well short. Service was hit or miss, except at the Japanese restaurant.
2. Room Service: Punctual and acceptable in terms of food quality. The snack bars around the resort were also okay.
3. Portable Speakers: Fortunately, they are not allowed in and around the pool areas as this has caused an annoyance on previous holidays, we only witnessed one occasion where this rule was flouted.
Not So Great
1. Drinks: Cocktails were inconsistent—sometimes too weak, other times too strong or incomplete. The upstairs bar near the entrance seemed to handle mixing drinks better.
2. Shop Prices: Be prepared for steep prices on anything you buy in Cancun.
3. Smoking and Vaping: Despite being a non-smoking and no-vaping hotel, enforcement was lax. Guests openly vaped around the pool areas, and even smoking occurred at the main undercover bar without any challenges.
The Very Bad
1. Tipping Challenges: We faced difficulties with tipping due to the lack of 1-dollar bills. The ATMs only dispensed 20-dollar bills, which couldn’t be changed anywhere within the resort, we tried the Casino, Check in, Shop and Concierge to no avail. As a result, we could only tip for evening meals but couldn’t tip the bar and waiting staff adequately. Their service deteriorated over time, and we encountered very unfriendly responses.
2. Beer Restocking: After a few days, none of our three rooms had beer restocked in the fridges. Other items were replenished, but this oversight affected our experience.
3. Bar Staff Attitude: Some bar staff became aggressive, instructing us to bring pesos next time. Towards the end of our stay, waiting staff stopped visiting our group altogether. We were told on the day before leaving that we could only order 2 drinks per person at the bars and if we wanted to order for our group, we would have to order via the waiting staff. This was not possible as the waiting staff had stopped visiting us at our tables and sunbeds. As a result, we spent our final night in the sports bar and missed the entertainment etc.
4. Hotel Response: The day before we left, we had enough and tried to speak to the management. Our complaint to the hotel didn’t yield the expected apology or resolution. Instead, we received a generic acknowledgment that our feedback would be considered.
Final Thoughts
Despite its potential, the Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun fell short due to these issues. We’ve had fantastic holidays at other Royalton resorts and in Mexico before, but this experience has left us no desire to return to Mexico or another Royalton hotel especially given we had paid £20k for this experience.

2week holiday January 31/01/2024

2week holiday January 31/01/2024 - 15/02/2024 to Royalton Cuba - Cato Santa Maria.

This holiday was booked after careful research and trip advisor reviews claiming recently refurbished, al la cart restaurants and 5 star rating and all reviews read praised rooms, food and service rating at 5 star. The reality is:
Room
The first offered quite frankly stank , the shower was rancid, towels grey, bedding left me speechless. Grey fade yellow bolsters, thin grey sheets, no light switches to switch off main lamp and bedside lamps. We were moved the next day but quite frankly if I could have gone home I would, but we live in the UK. Quiet frankly I could have wept. To set the tone after a 9 hour flight and a 5 hour taxi journey we were greeted with 2 soggy grey hand towels and an un drinkable cocktail. As for the food it speaks volumes when you are yearning for the in flight meal on the plane home.

Food- yes we recognised there would be shortages but what was served was always cold, swimming in oil and overcooked and most evenings the al la cadre restaurant served chicken, fish, inedible stringy beef and even pasta was ruined by the sauce. Before the second week we and my husband both ended up with tummy trouble and I came home half a stone lighter having lived in boiled and Cuban rice to prevent further upsets and partner likewise. In the last week there was a chicken heist- no more roast chicken and no morning breakfast eggs, no bacon and bullets for cereal. Bread was lovely butter horrible, and yogurt resembled blancmange. Best meal was cheese and ham toasties in Varadero.

Drinks - water only and bottle of rum in the room, rum if wanted replaced weekly but we didn’t want it and no alternative offered. Drinks in bar were premium labels but no mixers and wine was variable, often no red and beer ran out on at least 2 occasions and there was no sparkling wine, Prosecco or champagne on offer.

Cleanliness - main bedroom after being moved was fresher than previous but bathroom was musty and humid and towels unspeakable. Grey and at best thick but more often thin and stained. Butlers everyday tried to be helpful asking what we needed but obviously couldn’t deliver, clean white sheets (sheets were only changed twice) clean white towels a fresh airy bathroom and bedroom and proper pillows. Their time would have been better employed with the maids scrubbing rooms clean. On at least four occasions I woke soaked in perspiration having dreamt that I was drowning in a mosquito infested swamp and during the last 4 days despite air con clothes in the wardrobe were soaked and smelly.

Luxury rating 0, star rating 0. We have to Cuba 5 times before in 5 star hotels which although sometimes experiencing food shortages the bedrooms and environment were 5 star. We never ever stayed in anything like this hotel let alone a hotel purporting to be a 5 star.

On a positive note, although hard to find, the staff were helpful although at times looked embarrassed, some staff worked incredibly especially bar and pool bar staff and gardeners and chambermaids while others stood about watching. The general manager when asked our view didn’t stay long to hear what we had to say.

To summarise the best part of the holiday was taxi ride back to Varadero, the toasties and coffee in the airport and in-house flight meal and arrival home.

Royalton - Negril, Jamaica

Royalton - Negril, Jamaica Review

The hotel is nice but not 5*. Lots of maintenance and finishing touches needed, eye for detail is required over the site. Such a beautiful location, clear waters and lovely beach.

The staff were amazing, we met and were looked after by a number of lovely people, it is them that made the holiday a great experience.

The food - the buffet restaurant had a good selection for breakfast with local food also represented.

The other restaurant’s need to improve the quality of the food, the Italian needs to reflect Italian cuisine very poor, the seafood was overcooked, pasta dry and pizza too much dough and not enough topping.

The Caribbean restaurant - food was lukewarm, hard due to undercooked and lots of bones in the curry. This restaurant should be a platform to show off Jamaican cuisine but failed to show the richness of Jamaican cooking. Never heard of Rice & Peas casserole!!!

The steak and Japanese restaurants were palatable but chips were cold each time in the Steak Restaurant.

Evening entertainment was good.

The hotel were handing out surveys for holidaymakers to complete and a manager came to the beach along with her staff asking everyone to give a good review but when we gave feedback that the food was below par, she chose to ‘gaslight’ us into believing we were mistaken as to the quality of the food served. On that day we saw so many staff taking orders on the beach but prior to and after the survey, service was scant on the beach.

Would we go back? No. Would we do another Royalton? Based on this experience. No.

Royalton Grenada

Royalton Grenada is a great place to stay. The location is amazing, the beach has crystal clear water, white sand and beautiful sunsets. The staff is very nice and friendly, they do their best to make the guests happy. The only thing that should be improved is the food. The restaurants often run out of ingredients, which is a bit annoying and not what you expect from a five start resort.
My overall experience was anyway amazing! I wish I was still there 🙂

Sleepless nights

Royalton St Lucia
We stayed 2 weeks in January and had issues with constant fire alarm activation in building number 4.
It's was very disappointing to wake up at 2.00 AM or 5:45 AM because of the alarm. I contacted Hotel management several time, no apology extended, seems like everyone was aware about this, but no one really was interested to follow up, except room attendant Natasha, she was very apologetic about this situation.

Restaurants:
GOURMET MARCHÉ- good variety of hot food, fish from grill was excellent, a lot of fruits and pastries
ARMADILLO- very tasty food
CALYPSO - very tasty food
GRAZIE ITALIAN TRATTORIA- average
HUNTER STEAKHOUSE- excellent
ZEN- average
SCOOPS GELATO AND CAFFE LOUNGE- very good coffee and snacks

Bars

CHILL SWIM-UP BAR- very good service especially Ashley, very genuine and knowledgeable gentleman. I was under impression there was limitation of spirits, when our favourite spirit finished, we had to get the same from different bar.
LOBBY BAR- good service
MARTINI MIX- very busy, slow service and unpleasant smell around

Beach/Pool- Beach service, does not exist, not many umbrellas available, a lot of stones inside the sea
No enough towels at the main pool around 9.00am and the quality was really poor

Hideaway- very small beach with a lot of stones and not enough sun beds

Room-very specious, extremely comfy bed, great A/C, safe did not work for 2 weeks

Maintenance- a lot of damages around the building, lift etc., due to burst pipe- no cold water for 24h, lobby toilet urinal blocked during all stay

Housekeeping- good service except shortage of hand towels and face towels during our stay, please purchase new vacuum for public area cleaner (has only one wheel)

Lobby- sofa stained, carpet extremely dirty, chairs with missing cushions

Reception- average service, if you exchange money, ask for receipt, otherwise you will be short of EC

Entertainment - loved live music in the Lobby, such a fun and great songs, super vibe in general

Location- 2 hours drive from the airport

Overall:
Nice and relaxing place, don't except exceptional customer service (except Ashley and Natasha). Definitely not 5 star.
Due to sleepless nights (fire alarms) and no follow ups- I am giving low score.

Avoid at all costs!

Just got back from the Royalton Montego Bay. Where do I begin… The resort is beautiful but that’s where it ends abruptly! Check in is an absolute nightmare with chaos everywhere and non of the front desk staff really care because I’m assuming they get this every day and have become immune to it. You are promptly sat down and your passport taken away and later on given a room key wrist band and then you wait for hours and it is suggested you go eat or drink before they can find your room.

The buffet is pretty basic and the atmosphere is that of a school hall diner. The food is pretty dire and the breakfast queue is pretty large. If you want to get into a specialty restaurant good luck because you are greeted with a smirk saying we’re full come back tomorrow even tho it’s 8pm. The steak house hostess almost laughed at us when we asked for a table.

The noise and the constant loud booming music you are subjected to at breakfast lunch and dinner is atrocious and you have to shout at each other to speak out. It’s kids with big boom boxes literally shouting down the microphone at 9am like it’s a street party.

Regardless of the do not disturb signs on the doors you can be assured of constant knocking and if you put the privacy lock on the maid just keeps banging against it till you open the door.

In short it’s best avoided at all costs and definitely not worth the price tag of the stay. It’s a 5 star resort with 2 star standards. Was so glad to check out of this resort and never set foot in there again.

Not a 5 Star Luxury Resort

Just beware, if you are looking for a Luxury 5 star expereience and paying for a luxury 5 star the Royalton resorts so not deliver what they are advertising!

We stayed at the Royalton Bavaro in Dec 2023. It si at best a 4 star resort and I only go that high because I will recognize that it is in the Domincan Republic BUT i've had 5 star experieinces at other Dominican resort brands.

If you find a great price (that is 3-4 star equivilent) then the location, beach, lazy river and rooms are worth it but service is slow and not great, restaurants are terrible (service/food), buffet is better than restaurants, room service offers little and if you actually get it it’s not great…not what a 5 star luxury vacation should offer.

We were not diamond club but it seemed if you upgrade to diamond club you get amazing service but I think it’s sad and says a lot about the Royalton brand.

Some specifics: Asian restaurant had chicken bones in their a la carte chicken teriyaki, we got food poisoning from Steakhouse, pizza was burnt to a crisp at Italian but the Brazilian steakhouse was best restaurant for sure.

Shoutout to Bernarda who is part of housekeeping and was absolutely fantastic! If more staff were like her this would have been a much better experience!

Note we were in room 13111 and the tile was crumbling into swimout, safety issue.

Great Place

Good food, nice staff smiling and helpful speedy room service and a great room cleaner she was one of the best all made our stay great. Will be back, (only down side the amount of people coming up to use facilities from the neighbouring splash hotel ( taking up sun beds , crowding out the pool and restaurant) they should either have to book a day or made to pay an upgrade premium because what's the point of paying more money to stay here if you could pay less to use the splash hotel and still get the extras)

Royalton Resort in Grenada

Royalton Resort in Grenada.
We got married at the Rex Grenadian in 1998 a 3 Star Hotel and decided it would be nice to return to the same hotel to celebrate 25 years of marriage. The hotel is now trading as Royalton Resort Grenada and a 5 Star fully inclusive resort.
We had arranged our own transfer from the airport to the Royalton which cost 12 US dollars, BA wanted £48 per person, for a journey that is 5 minutes maximum.
We had already been in touch with the Royalton requesting what is known as Building 14 as I am superstitious of the number 13. After 45 minutes at front desk we were given keys to a room in Building 13. I explained that I had emailed and had paid for Building 14 and we didn't want Building 13. After 10 minutes we were offered Building 11 which is a downgrade from what we had paid for as we had paid for a Luxury Seaview and not a Garden view.
After a further 10 minutes we were given the keys to a room in Building 14, we proceed to the room, when we opened the door it smelt terribly of damp, we reported this to the Bellhop and he told us to report it to front desk which we did. To cut a very long story short 24 hours after involving Mr Christopher the manager we moved to another room which was an upgrade to Diamond Club from what we have purchased, Thank You for that Mr Christopher.
Things didn't get much better. For whatever reason when the chambermaid cleaned the room on a daily bases the tea, sugar and milk was never replaced nor was the mini bar refreshed and it took 3 days to get a second cup and this is Diamond Club.
Please bear in mind this is supposed to be a 5 Star Resort, with this in mind I went to one of the bars and asked for a Max & Ruby a non alcoholic cocktail to be told they had "NO BANANAS" on an island that bananas grow like weeds. No worries I'll have an orange and lemonade to be told they had "NO ORANGE JUICE" Things didn't get much better when later I asked for a Jack Daniels to be told "SORRY we have NO JD" ok lets have a Canadian Club, to be told "we have NO C&C". It went down hill later that week when the management closed the Main Buffet "the Gourmet Marche" restaurant and the French restaurant leaving only the Italian Restaurant and the Indian Restaurant which needed to cater for 200 guests bearing in mind the resort when full can cater for about 700 guests. We we told the earliest we could eat would be in 90 minutes and it is only fair to point out that when dining at both the Italian and Indian restaurant on previous occasions 30% of the menu was unavailable. We are not sure why the management closed 2 restaurants on that evening unless it was shortage of staff as it was Bank Holiday on the Island. We ended up having to get a taxi and leave the hotel and find a restaurant along with many other guests.
Just one other thing this is 5 Star resort that closes all bars by 23.00 and the entertainment is Karaoke on 2 or 3 nights a week. I could go on and on as there were plenty of other complaints I could make but I won't.
I have written to the CEO of Sunwing and guess what NO REPLY.
Please be aware that this resort is sold by Virgin, Hayes & Jarvis and TUI, incidentally the Royalton group of resorts is owned by the Sunwing Group of companies which TUI own 49%.
So buyer beware.

Gastroenteritis central....not a 5 star by any standards

Like the previous reviewer we went to a TUI Autograph hotel: the Royalton Punta Cana for a wedding with 8 or 9 other couples using TUI as the travel agent.

First the good stuff: flights out and back in premium Economy were excellent, replicates business class for 1/4 of the price: good food, good service, good seats etc.

Now the bad: The Royalton was a complete let down. NOT a 5 STAR.

Tired rooms, unless you pay £440 per couple for an upgrade into the "Hideaway". Very surly slow service, variable quality of food, dirty pools, waiting staff helping themselves to the food and even taking and drinking cupful's the very poor quality and usually rationed wine!!

2 out of 6 restaurants closed for refurbishment so had to queue for everything.

Beach washed away along with 30% of the sunbeds but the hotel still charged $90 on top of the all inclusive package for the use of a cabana and to cap it all most of our wedding group of 18 adults got gastroenteritis, in some cases TWICE.

This is at best a 3 star hotel nowhere near the level it represents itself as....if you want 5 star just don't go, but if you do, take you medication and a cork because our experience says you will get what was dismissed by Tui and the hotel as "holiday tummy"....but I can assure you after the second episode of "holiday tummy" in the week there was nothing "holiday" about what many of us experienced, more "hurricane tummy" if you get my drift!
