The RPS company was a great choice for my Solar pump!
The RPS company was a great choice for my solar pump system. Madison, in particular was very helpful in putting a system together that would meet my needs. Install was relatively easy and by the book. The system performs great! I will be using them again and would highly recommend them.
Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable
When my neighbor decided that he wasn’t going to allow me to pump water out of his creek anymore in order to keep my pond full, I knew it was time to dig a well. The well company quoted me $7000 for a new pump. RPS sold me one for $1100. They helped me choose the right pump and I had it on my doorstep within a few days. Right now I’m pumping 44 gallons per minute 24/7 and in about 20 days I estimate it will pump over 1.2 million gallons to reach full pond. RPS is the best.
Terrible product and company
I spent over $2,300 on a solar fountain system from RPS Solar Pumps, and this has been one of the most frustrating purchases I have ever made.
First, the system arrived with incorrect instructions and missing parts. My contractor, who owns his own business and installs equipment like this regularly, had to make multiple trips to The Home Depot just to find parts that should have been included. The wiring and components that were sent were incorrect, and the manual they provided did not match the actual equipment. Without my contractor’s electrical experience, we likely would not have been able to get the system running at all.
Customer service was also extremely disappointing. When I called for help, Eric was rude and provided no real answers other than saying he would notify a manager. Anastacia, who followed up by email, was not helpful either. The only person who attempted to assist was Carmen, who spoke directly with my contractor. She stated that based upon what was being read to her from my contractor that in fact they did send either the wrong product or wrong instructions.
Carly (sales associate) was the person who strongly encouraged me to purchase the mount kit for the solar panels, claiming it was on sale and recommending I buy it before the sale ended. I agreed and paid about $450–$500 for it. The following week I checked the price again and saw the same item listed for significantly less, around $329. That alone was frustrating.
Even worse, the product listing and sales conversation suggested the mount included a pole, which it did not. I only purchased it because I was told it would make installation easier. In reality, my contractor said we could have built a mount with a pole ourselves for $100–$150.
Once we finally got the pump working, another major issue appeared. I specifically asked how high the fountain spray would go because my pond is large. Carly told me the fountain would reach 6–8 feet high. In reality, it barely reaches around 4 feet, which is nowhere near what was represented.
The solar performance is also extremely poor. The fountain only runs properly in direct sunlight. Even a small amount of shade — like someone briefly walking in front of the panels — causes the pump to slow dramatically or stop. That is not what I expected from a company claiming to sell the “#1 solar fountain in the U.S.”
Overall, this has been a very stressful and disappointing experience:
• Missing parts
• Incorrect manual
• Misleading product representation
• Overpriced mounting kit
• Poor solar performance
• Unhelpful customer service
After spending thousands of dollars, this situation is completely unacceptable. At this point I expect either a full resolution, repair, or refund because the product and experience did not match what was promised.
I would strongly advise others to do extensive research before purchasing from RPS Solar Pumps or not purchase from this company at all. If I could leave 0 stars. I would. Complete horse shit!
Amazing customer service
The jury is still out on my actual pump, it has been a little more temperamental than I expected— although my well is much deeper than the norm (225’ pump depth). The company’s customer service and support, however, has been nothing short of amazing. They have spent, literally, hours helping me through a tricky installation. They’ve been quick to send things to help me. I would definitely buy from them again on that basis alone. Special call out to Carmen and Kyle, and others as well.
The pumps that come with their system…
The pumps that come with their system have to be pulled out about every year, cause of a piece that wears out. They provide you with that part for free, but the cost to pull the pump is $500 to $1000 each time. I have their system, but I won't recommend it to anyone, and I will be replacing it this time.
The RPS help desk is brilliant
The RPS help desk is brilliant. They talk you through trouble shooting the problem over the phone clearly, they diagnose problems correctly and ship the right replacement part quickly.
No effective customer service
My 380 ft deep solar powered well stopped pumping water. Called tech support and was given a number to call when. I was on site and with a multimeter. I called and a tech tried to diagnose problem over phone and guiding me to telling him reading of multimeter. Based on finding tech stated it was a bad motor. Only 2 1/2 years old. Oh well. I paid for the replacement and pull the pump out. New motor was installed and pre-installation check revealed the new .motor doing the same thing as the old one. I emailed them notifying of problem and no response. So I started diagnosing myself. Got rid of well cable and went straight to connect the power controller. Removed pump and ran motor by itself was still doing same thing. Not turning. Just buzzing. Old and new motor both doing the same thing. I emailed, called and texted and only a customer service rep told me that a tech was looking at my problem. I sent them videos of my situation. No response. 4 days have passed and I have livestock to provide water to and still no response. No email or text updating on the status of your work ticket. Overall I only recommend their services if you are willing to install and then not get proper support. Go local. Buy local and that way you can get assistance faster. I've lost days from work waiting for a reply from RPS and nothing yet
The best customer service
I’ve purchased from this company before and each time the customer service is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. I can’t say enough good things about
Great customer service.
I've had an RPS pump for several years now, and I can say that my customer support experience is second to none. While I've had my frustrations in the past, RPS has always come through and helped me with my problems.
My last issue occurred several weeks ago. I ran through all of their troubleshooting list and it ended up being a bad submersible well pump (wore out after a few years of use). I talked with a couple of people and eventually ended up speaking with Anthony. I explained the issue/frustration I was having, and he was able to get me a GREAT deal on a replacement pump, and they shipped it out later that day. I got the new pump setup and I'm now pumping water again!
No company is perfect, but I've always appreciated the team at RPS. They really do try their hardest to keep their customers happy.
Thanks for all you do!
World Class Customer Service
Not only is the RPS packaged solar system easy to install and operate, but I continue to get world class customer service from their team. That's important to me since I'm not an expert at water pumps and electrical devices/solar panels. I always get clear and honest advice when I call with questions.
My well is off grid
My well is off grid, RPS sold me a turn key solar well pump. They have great customer service, one of my solar panels arrived shattered and they promptly sent a new panel. Tell them how deep your well is and the static water level and they will give you recommendations. I am 74 years old and after reading the manual and watching You Tube videos several times I was able to install my complete system. I have no regrets buying from Rural Power Systems.
Literally the best customer service…
Literally the best customer service I’ve experienced in my whole life. Quality products with great technical support and customer service. They put me on the phone with an engineer to help diagnose a problem and a few easy tests later the problem was diagnosed and solved quick! If you’re on the fence about buying from RPS this is your sign to take the leap, you will not be disappointed.
Great customer service
Great customer service. I had a few questions regarding installation. After the response with RPS, installation went very smooth. I ran the pump/fountain all last year without any issues.
Easy to use and excellent customer service
I ordered my RPS Solar pump and installed it last year. It worked perfectly last summer on my summer grazing lease. This spring, when I went back to reinstall it, I forgot my instruction manual. I called into customer service on Sunday of a holiday weekend and was not surprised when nobody picked up. However, on Tuesday morning, I received an email stating RPS had noticed that I had called in over the weekend and would be calling me to make sure everything was okay. This level of customer service is great to see. My total purchase was less than two thousand dollars and a year later they reached out after only a missed call into customer service. I will be using RPS whenever possible.
We recently purchased a solar pump…
We recently purchased a solar pump system from RPS. Unfortunately, when it arrived the box and one solar panel were damaged. I contacted Kyle at customer service. He had another replacement panel shipped out to us that very same day. I was impressed at their quick response and how well they back their products and services.
Great products
Great products. Awesome prices. Ready to follow installation manual. But the real asset to this company is the tech support. They will spend a much time as necessary to help troubleshoot your issue if a have a problem.
RPS Rocks!
I am a retired homebuilder from Florida, who, with RPS's help I was able to install an array of solar panels, with solar powered pump to our well, some 300' deep! I was able to accomplish this task along with a local "well pump guy" who was familiar with the process but not the product. This has not been a linear line to success, because like everything else in the construction industry, the process is not perfect. I will say thought that RPS was about as close to perfect (in my opinion) as the process can get! The original installation was nearly flawless from the delivery of the "packages" of parts to the numerous helpful videos to the "in the trench" communications with the engineering staff to better understand ON MY PART what was what. A year later, I came home after being away for 3 months. The cistern had been pumped dry. The well pump was not responding. My pump guy was reluctant to help, but RPS wasn't. They were instrumental in diagnosing the issues as being board related and walked me throiugh a board replacement and then a pump replacement! Two years after the original installation, the pump is not delivering the volume of water that it should. I can no longer find my "well guy", so I hired another. This company got on the telephone with Anthony at RPS and Anthony gracefully walks him through the trouble shooting which requires pulling the pump. Anthony was both genuine, thoughtful and determined to get to the bottom of the problem. Yes, the problem was "outside" of RPS's warranty...but there is a brand new pump in our garage waiting for the second week of January when my new well pump company can do the installation. If the scale had been topped out at 10 stars, I would have given it to RPS.
Good company to work with.
Very satisfied with the equipment and the support.Great at returning calls promptly and it was nice to not feel pressured, but helped.
Excellent if you want to DIY your well for solar
This review is about 2 years later and everything is still working as designed.
I talked with technicians at RPS and other solar well producers for over a year before I was confident in making my purchase. Each and every time, the people at RPS were awesome! In the end I went with an RPS 400V along with their quick install kit. I had everything delivered in a few days from ordering. It arrived at my house at 10:30am and I had water coming out of my 100' well by 1:30pm. I highly recommend RPS so far. The excellent customer support is rare these days, and the product seems to be high quality. I didn't find any chinsy plastic components or anything that looks like it will break.
Solid dependable coice
Couldn’t be more pleased with my choice to go with RPS pump . Has been dependable system since purchase 3/22/2022 ..
