The Lagom theme for WHMCS looks absolutely stellar, and is massively configurable to make a great looking theme that matches very well with my branding.

I've messaged Kacper from the Lagom team a few times now with small issues and they reply insanely fast with high quality support.

I'd 100% recommend RS Studio and Lagom.

Logged a support ticket after having a technical issue. This was quickly resolved by support and a patch was released the same day!

We use two of their products: Lagom WHMCS Client Theme and Lagom Smart Order Form for WHMCS (previously known as Lagom One Step Order Form for WHMCS).

Overall, my opinion has become somewhat more positive over time, mainly because support is generally reasonably fast and helpful. That said, fixes and patches do not always go smoothly on the first attempt, which can still make the process quite time-consuming.

The Lagom WHMCS Client Theme works well for us and has been stable. We are satisfied with it overall, although at this price point I do think a few more SVG-related assets could have been included.

Our mixed experience is mainly with Lagom Smart Order Form for WHMCS.

Version 1.2.8 had a billing-related issue in the order summary when combining products with different billing cycles. For example, if a domain registration was billed annually and a server quarterly, the amount shown in the billing section could become incorrect.

Version 1.2.9 was supposed to address that issue according to the changelog, but in our case it initially introduced a fatal DivisionByZeroError, which made it unusable for us in production. We reported this through multiple support tickets and contacted both RSThemes and ModulesGarden. RSThemes responded quickly, while ModulesGarden took somewhat longer. After several support exchanges, the issue was ultimately resolved to our satisfaction. So although this problem did cause delay and frustration, I do want to state clearly that it was eventually fixed properly.

As for version 1.3.0, even putting aside the fact that it is still beta, it is simply not a workable direction for us. A number of things were changed under the label of “improvements,” but in practice this made the product significantly less suitable for our setup. One of the most important changes was the removal of options and behavior that our implementation depended on. As a result, a very large amount of our existing custom work became effectively useless. We have already invested around 360 KB of custom code and extensive development time into adapting the order form to our needs, so this is not a minor concern.

I understand Lagom’s position that 1.3.0 is not yet the final version, but I remain concerned about the overall direction. In its current form, it feels more like a functional downgrade than an upgrade. If that direction remains unchanged, we will not move to newer versions.

Another important point is customization. Because of the heavy use of Vue, making changes is certainly possible, but it is also much more complex and time-consuming than it could be. For our technicians, even relatively straightforward adjustments can require a disproportionate amount of time, and that time has a real cost.

Once everything is configured and working, the module performs well enough. But in terms of usability and maintainability, it could be much more intuitive. Some parts of the module feel unnecessarily difficult to navigate. We have a Dutch saying for this; we do not see the forest, because of the trees. Seems appropiate here unfortunately.

To be fair, I was asked more than once by the Lagom owner to update my review. I do not change reviews simply because a vendor requests it. However, I have now updated it because I wanted it to better reflect the full picture, including the fact that version 1.3.0 turned out to be a beta version, even though updating to it had been recommended to us.

So while I have revised my review to make it fairer and more balanced, I am keeping my rating at 3 out of 5 stars.

That rating reflects not only the issues we encountered, but also my lack of confidence that future versions (especially the 1.3.x line) will continue to offer the same functionality and flexibility we currently depend on. We have already spent roughly two months adapting this module to fit our requirements, and there is a real risk that much of that work will be lost if the product continues in its current direction.

We have recently reviewed the future of our WHMCS setup internally, including Lagom. While we are still working on our new website based on WHMCS and this module, we have decided that in the longer term we will move toward our own custom solution. This is not solely because of Lagom, but also because the overall WHMCS ecosystem has become too costly for the value it offers us today.

Overall, there are clear strengths here and support has been decent, but we still have serious concerns about the product direction, long-term maintainability, and the impact of future changes on custom implementations.

Lagom 2 is great - seamlessly integrates with WHMCS, you get plug & play SEO tools, multi language, and templates which you can customize to match your imagination. Love it!

In 2019 we built our first site with whmcs out of necessity and needless to say the options to customize it are atrocious at best.

Luckily we found back then Lagom version 1, which was not perfect, but made things a lot easier for our Web Designer to work with.

We have now purchased Lagom 2 and the Website Builder to overhaul our Website entirely and I have to say you will not find any other Theme or Module that is so advanced compared to any others on the Market and whmcs finally feels like Wordpress when it comes to options for customizing the design.

Also, their support is blazing fast. A ticket response never took longer than 12 hours, and the free Installation was also done within a few hours.
