I had high hopes for Runway AI's video generation, but the results were absolutely terrible. The output was unusable, incoherent, and nowhere near what was advertised. None of the materials were usable for my project.

To make matters worse, when I reached out for a refund, it was flatly refused despite the product clearly not delivering on its promises. I ended up wasting both time and money. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend this service to anyone looking for professional or even basic creative tools.

Avoid at all costs.

I signed up for unlimited. I have had it for just over a week now. It takes a really long time to download anything and I am using simple prompts like I’ve been advised by the online guide they give you. And a simple instruction of “smell the flowers”. Is just too much for it the subject keeps trying to eat them. .. and also keeps trying to eat her coffee cup .. and the hands are never right. I just think it shouldn’t even be out on the market until they get it right .. they are taking peoples hard earned money.. come on runway … shape up or ship out !! I will be cancelling my subscription .. I will write another review if I have problems doing that. 😤😡😤😡

My account was randomnly suspended in the middle of working on a project, even though I paid for their Unlimited tier!

This is not worth it. Avoid at all costs. My experience:
I signed up for the standard subscription 625 credits. Got Grok4 to generate the best prompt for my idea based upon RunwayMl. Generated the video and got a dud. Video was a flop. This cost me 600 credits for a video I couldn't even use. To edit this video further would have cost me a sh*# load more money.
Definitely , not worth it. Save your money.

Paid for a plan. It made one crappy video and wasted all my credits. Support is a nightmare. I would defiantly stay away.

Completely useless. I paid 95$ for unlimited plan. some of my first video generations was fast but the more I generate, the longer I have to wait in line. Until I forget what I even wanted to do. I wish I had realized sooner that the unlimited plan is a scam. its not even follow my prompt. I wasted my money

Will not follow the prompt I provide; EXTREMELY expensive, as most results will not be of use. It will only work in specific and very generic situations. Waste of time.

I've had nothing but a positive experience with RunWay's customer service, even though I wasn't able to generate exactly what I was hoping for. I have no clue what these people were doing to get such bad customer service... (maybe a lack of professionalism, entitlement, and not treating people with respect??) As a web developer and business owner, however, and knowing that AI technology is in its infancy, you have to be understanding! Anyway, they have resolved my issues and gone above and beyond twice now, and so I wanted to help tip the scales.

My experience working with act two was very, very bad.
To get a 30-second scene out, I had to spend 400 points. And the very strange reason is that the result is not uniform even though it's the same image and the same video. Without any settings changes.
In one scene, the character doesn't move his hands, in the second scene, the sleeves of the garment expand in the area near the palm. And in the next scene, the lighting changed completely!?!?!?
Also, when I pressed the GENERATE button, I saw that it didn't respond, I pressed it again, and then I saw the same segment running twice and of course it took me 200 credits! Something very sinister is going on there. There's no one to contact. There are no instructions on how to prepare the character and video (like resolution, etc.) You just go in and try and you'll be fine, and in the meantime, this learning costs you precious credits.
Not worth it!

18 months ago, i miggt habe praised RunwayML for a great product at a reasonable price but after revisiting this platform I am left shell-shocked and aghast at their descent into insignificance.

Video generations lag behind competing technologies to the point of unusable. Customer services hide behind policy to avoid the obvious need for refund. Despite offering a goodwill topup of tokens, which are effectively worthless, the terrible service on all fronts means that at this point, it is little more than an elaborate scam.

I am certain they will attempt to deny it to save face but I have never been so incensed by a companies lack of integrity, that I am now compelled to share this experience.

Impossible to cancel your plan. Begs for financial watchdog to interfere. No cancel button, nothing. Only "Contact Us" button that effectively sends email to support@*****yml.com.

The How do I cancel my plan section in their help is outright lying to you.

Think twice before you subscribe.

it started as a good exprience but now when im at the seconed month that i waited for so long for the credits to be renwed every resulst is absoulty garbage!!!! money to the trash, super dissapointed . won't use the service more . sucks to pay so much for nothing .

I paid $16.50 and barely used the service. Why? Because every time I tried to generate something, the output was garbage — nothing like what I expected.

And here's the kicker: Every failed attempt still cost me credits. No retries, no refunds, no quality control. Just straight-up draining my credits like a scam.

Then I found out that unused credits disappear after 30 days. What kind of system is that?
If you're going to charge a monthly fee, then either let users use it freely during that month, or let the unused credits roll over.
You can’t do neither. That’s just predatory.

This isn’t a creative platform — it’s a cleverly disguised cash grab. It punishes users for experimenting and leaves nothing in return.
Honestly, I’ve never felt so ripped off by a so-called “AI tool.”
Worst $16.50 I’ve spent this year — hands down.

Negative 5 billion STARZ. For VIP members they say 48 hour response time. Wrote 3 emails. No responses. Zero. No support. Their audio to add is not working. Doesn’t generate the same images. Liars no way ppl make entire movies with this generating 10 secs at a time. Lieing company with zero customer service . Never again I want my money back false advertisement. These ppl are criminals

you get 5 credits free as a test. but you can't test suckers. this is typical scam

I understand that the product is experimental but sometimes the outputs are so poor and unusable it seems like it's doing it deliberately to eat up credits.

The prices are way too high. If you get the unlimited (Relaxed) subscription, generating a 10 second video takes about 20 minutes. You can't que videos either, you have to wait until they are finished one by one.

The AI gets your prompt wrong half the time. Which make you lose time and credits.

Then there's the oversensitive censorship. Even people in short-sleeved t-shirts are too risky. They don't tell you what's the problem either. While you're figuring out what exactly is the problem, your account gets suspended.
They say you can appeal to this, but that's a lie. They just mention that their decision is final, give no explanation and tell you to go away.

Anything is better than this overpriced mess.

I paid for Runway’s unlimited plan thinking I could create freely. After just three weeks, I was banned without warning.

At first, they accused me of using a script — which I don’t even know what that is. When I questioned it, they changed the reason and said I let someone else use my account, just because I generated a lot of videos.

I explained that I had to regenerate the same video multiple times because Runway kept giving poor results. I even told them to check my folder — same project, repeated attempts. But instead of listening, they just said I violated the terms and locked me out of all my generated videos.

Luckily, I saved some. But in the Runway Discord forum, I found two other users with the same issue — one got banned after only 15 days, and another lost all their work because they hadn’t backed it up.

What’s the point of “unlimited” if you get banned for actually using it?

Now I’m using another app — no unlimited plan, but I get better results, faster, and cheaper, without the fear of being banned for creating.

Runway’s unlimited plan is misleading. Look elsewhere.
