I recently ordered a batch of 10×15 cm prints on the Silk surface from Saal Digital, and overall I’m satisfied with the quality—but with one important reservation.

The colours and overall sharpness of the photos are very good, and the prints feel robust and professionally produced. However, the silk surface has a noticeably textured, “ruffled” finish. In certain lighting it almost looks as if the image is pixelated, even though the original files are high-resolution. This isn’t a printing error, but rather the nature of the silk texture itself—something I wasn’t fully aware of before ordering.

If you prefer a smooth, glossy or matte surface, or want every small detail to appear crisp, this texture may not be ideal. But if you like a more tactile, non-reflective finish, you may appreciate it.

In short: great colour and print quality, but the textured silk surface gives a visible structure that wasn’t quite what I expected.

I am a professional and someone recommended this place to me as being for professionals.
I started ordering their metal box with paper samples to start with - that is a great idea. It would also be so meaningful to be able to add just 1 of my own images which I guess this should be all about. They can just put a big watermark on top I dont care as long as I can preview my own images in this paper? Answer: Not possible. Ok then could I have an image that is similar of my photographic genre ? Not possible. Ok could I know which image has been chosen for this sample package ? No not possible. Okay can I cancel the order - I can see the it is not yet searchable on my account and deliverey date is over 1 week from now? Not possible. Okay just imagine what a headache this communication process will be when I even start adding my projects and all the large prints I was about to order. Having a dialog with support was like having a dialog with Apple Siri version 2007 - I think they just lost me as a customer already before I started…

I was chosen to get a high-end photobook from saal digital.
It took some time designing the layout and I think the app was I bit counter intuitive. I nearly fineshed my design, but the app stopped working and I had to start all over again. The app also changed the font and text I choose quite often.
There was a lot of different options to choose from though.
It took a week to arrive from Germany and was packed securely.
I didn't pay for it, but I think the price point is a bit to high for what you get. The binding looked like it had been rushed doing manufacturing and I also felt a bit cheap with the price in mind. Like it would eventually fall apart years from now. I don't think the faux leather binding is sturdy enough for the acrylic front cover.
The photos came in phenomenal quality and the colors were nice, vibrant and true. I did notice it was quite hard to look at the book shared in direct light compared to other picture books. There was some glare even though I choose the matte photo paper.
I am overall very happy with my book, but I don't think I would choose this option for my wedding photos or artwork. Some of the more affordable options might actually be of better quality.

Really bad customer experience. I've been happy with Saal Digital and used them a lot for my customers (I'm a photographer). Bud it's only good when everything goes right. The moment you need to contact their customer support for some reason it's really bad. I ordered this very big and expensive wall picture for a customer. By mistake I didn't change the delivery adress to the customers adress which means it used the paying adresse (my own). I saw it immediately after I had payed for the order. I tried to find a phone number for customer service but it was impossible. Apparently they don't want you to call them. I emailed them about the issue to two different email addresses. After a couple of days I received the reply and they told me it was to late to change the delivery adress. I told them that I it was really bad customer service that I couldn't change my order immediately after I had placed it and they replied and told me next time to write to this email adress immidately after I've placed the order. I replied and told them that was what I've already done. In the reply I was told that I should write the right delivery adress in the first place.
This is not OK. It should be possible to change small things like that if you're fast and it should be possible to get in touch with the customer support very fast.
Now I just recived the wall picture on my own adress which means I have to use money on posting it again to my own customers which means they won't have it before Christmas (it was ment for a Christmas present).
I'm so furious with Saal Digital and their really bad customer support. Don't use them!
