One of the best experiences I ever had…

One of the best experiences I ever had with Sadat Hajj and Umrah group. Exceed my expectations, From booking my Umrah in October 2019 till I came back, help is always available. Hafiz Imran was really helpful and always answer any question I had when I was doing my booking. Shah Saab, Usamah, Hafiz and Naat Khaan Saab in the group were a bonus and blessed to be with them on this spiritual journey.
Highly recommended.

Best experience

This was a journey of a lifetime which I will never forget. Sadat travels did an amazing job from the booking process and sorting our needs out. I was updated by email everytime during the process. It was our first time going Umrah and they educated us on everything you need to know about it. They took us on ziyarahs in Makkah/Medina and we learnt the history of our religion. Through this experience we met some amazing people in our group. Thank you to Osama Syed Shah and Pir Syed Munawar Shah for sharing your knowledge with us.

Credit where credit is due - amazing experience all thanks to Shah Saab and their nephew Osama. Extremely hospitable at all times. Daily mehfils in Madinah Paak with naats, Urdu/English biyaans and duaa enhanced the experience all round. Highly recommend others to use Sadaat.

I have trvelled for umrah in Ramadan…

I have trvelled for umrah in Ramadan 2019.

I loved it. I have travelled with another tour operator in the past but I felt like they weren’t really bothered about anything save for getting us to holy lands. Sadat actually came to us on regular basis asking whether I or my family needed anything. The umrah was performed under the watchful guidance of bi- lingual scholar who was very helpful. Accommodation was brilliant especially in Madinah next to gate 22 if I remember correctly.

I intend to travel again this coming year with Sadat - Allah SWT willing.

Thank you for everything.

Not a brilliant experience

I decided to go to Hajj Alhamdulilah, with the Sadat Group this year (2019 non - shifting package). I picked this group for various reasons but a big reason was of it's good reputation.

Overall I didn't have a great experience. To help others when choosing a good group I've decided to share my experience so that others can make a more informed decision.

I hope the Sadat Group do come across this review and use it as constructive feedback to help improve their package/service.

Pricing
*In my package the prices ranged between £4800 - 5500 (shared rooms) - additional £500 per person for a private room.
*Lack of transparency why people have paid more or less.
*Cost of a shorter package is the same as a longer package.

Hotels
Makkah (Masarat Kindom No 2)
*Good Location: 5min walk from the masjid but with the rush of people it takes longer
*Cleanliness and hygiene was really poor - rooms smelt like 'vomit' as one pilgrim put it. Another found rats in the dining/eating area.
*Unacceptable conditions

Madinah (Zowar International)
*Good Location: 5min Walk from the masjid
*Clean hotel.

Food
*Privately catered and delivered to the hotel 3 times a day in both Makkah and Medinah. The hotel in Makkah didn't have its own catering facility.
*The food was very basic and not very appetising for me personally.
*It seemed like the Sadat Group opted for the cheapest option to feed it's pilgrims.

Days of Hajj
*Cramped 250 men in one tent! Not sure if they would get away with this in a Government controlled camp.
*Again, it seemed the Sadat Group opted to do things really cheaply (easily seen when compared with other camps nearby and with the food provided)
*Service for the hujjaj was quite poor. Organised a coach from Makkah hotel to Mina on the 4th day of Hajj - told everyone they had to pay 40 SAR each when about to arrive in Mina! Also didn't help the elderly and wheelchair bound (e.g. making them queue with everyone else for coaches).
*Organisation was quite poor and became a real problem as things weren't being communicated effectively.

Service
*Unfortunately they really let themselves down here.
*Small requests like having wholemeal chappatis instead of white flour chappatis were refused because of cost even though alot of them weren't being eaten.
*Provided food in the first night of Madinah that had been cooked in Makkah and transported with us on the coach and served cold to us a few hours later!!!! Totally unacceptable - asking for food poisoning.
*Difficult to speak to some of the elders of this group - they didn't seem all that interested (this was my impression). Any complaints were explained away by saying we paid for an 'economy' package.
*Organised Ziyarats which were good, however they were delivered in Urdu. I liked that they organised a walking tour to Masjid Quba - this was something different.
*Spent very little time speaking about Hajj and what it entails and spiritually preparing the group for Hajj, etc. This would have helped really shape the atmosphere/culture of the group whilst in Mina but unfortunately they didn't take this responsibility on.

Overall
*A group that offers many packages at different length durations.
*Have 20+ years experience but you wouldn't know it whilst travelling with them (e.g. our guide when we arrived in Jeddah airport didn't do a head count until 3 hours later and didn't even know the name of the hotel in Makkah!)
*Streamlined their packages to really cut down on costs (evident in the hotel at Makkah and food that was served).
*A group that lacks the level of service it should provide based on its size, experience and reputation.

Reply from Sadat Hajj & Umrah

Dear Brother Abid,

I'm sorry your experience wasn't as you'd hope it would be, we will take notice of the concerns raised and work on improving ourselves for future groups.

However, I would like to reply to some of the comments raised and I hope to clarify some of your points.

Price:-

Difference in prices occurred dependant on when people booked, every year we offer Hajis the chance to book early for a discounted price as incentive. Your booking was taken on 18th March 2019, by which point we were almost full, hence you paid the full package price.
With many companies, not only does the price of the package remain the same for a shorter package, it often increases, as during the hajj period, the shorter trip airline tickets often cost more than the longer period, as you will be travelling out during a busier period of the hajj.

Hotels:-

As explained upon booking and during the trip, we try our best to keep the distance of our Makkah non shifting hotel as close to masjid al haram as possible, often, the closer hotels are not of as good a standard as the hotels which are further apart, however, we make sure we inform our Hajis that it is a priority for us to keep our Hujaj as close to the haram as possible. In future, taking your advise, we may offer an alternative to pilgrims where they can stay in a better standard of accommodation but futher away from the masjid.

Food:-

Food is often a contentious matter, as it will not always be to everyone's taste. As we have a large pakistani/indian majority of hujaj we try to cater to their requirements by providing food suitable for a majority, in such circumstances it can be difficult to cater to individual preferences such as wholemeal chappatis.

Days of Hajj:-

You've stated "Cramped 250 men in one tent! Not sure if they would get away with this in a Government controlled camp"
Our camps in Mina are government controlled camps, the space allocation is not determined by Sadat Hajj and Umrah or even by the Saudi Muallim allocated to Sadat, the space allocated per person is determined by the Ministry of Hajj & Umrah KSA and we have no control over the space, or lack there of, in the mina/arafat camps. Our pilgrims were allocated the same amount of space that all other pilgrims were allocated, however, even after continual requests from our group leaders in the days leading up to the Hajj, many of the hujaj did not heed the advise of packing lightly and many people took up large amount of space in Mina for their personal belongings and wheelchairs and other such items.
When we were made aware of this the group leaders ensured that every haji had enough space for him self and his sofa bed.

Service:-

We have a large team of group leaders that travel with our organisation, you have stated a lack of english speaking group leaders, this year we had 4 english speaking group leaders, Awais (myself), Talha, Usama and Ammar; two of which were scholars, they were available at all times to answer any questions raised regarding the Hajj. Youve also stated that not enough guidance was provided in relation to the Hajj; I feel this is slightly unjustified, as before travelling, we held two seminars, in the UK, which where delivered in both Urdu and English, we also had two seminars held in your Makkah hotel, three and two days respectively, before leaving for Mina, aswell as holding english and Urdu seminars in Mina and Arafat all detailing the process of Hajj. We also held daily bayaans and gatherings based on spiritually, tasawuf and how one can gain the most benifit from the Hajj in Madinah. We requested every Haji to attend every gathering, however many people chose not too; which is their prerogative, that being said, the gatherings and guidance was there for all the group to gain benefit from.

The matter R.E the 40 riyal for the coach to mina during the days of Hajj, we repeatedly informed every haji that no transport would be provided during the days of Hajj, eventhen, to ensure that the pilgrims did not face any difficulty, we did our best to assist in transport back to mina. The reason this is not included within the package, is that the standard mode of travelling from the Haram back to mina is walking and no transportation on that day can be guaranteed, I feel on this day, helping the pilgrims get back to mina, is something we did exceptionally well, and is something that majority of other organisations do not assist their pilgrims with.

In conclusion, I would once again like to apologise for any short comings from our end that may have resulted in you not gaining everything you had hoped for from your Hajj; myself, and my team will take everything you have said onboard and will do our best to improve for the future. I hope one day Allah grants us the taufeeq to travel together again and any issues that you faced this time will be eradicated.

Thank you for travelling with us, may Allah accept your hardwork and ibadat. Salaam to yourself and your family

Awais Shah

Hajj - The blessed journey

An absolutely amazing, spiritual and religious experience for me. The ziyarahs In both Makkah and Madina were provided with a guided Tour who enriched the experience by telling us the virtues historical facts of their importance and significance in Islam.

The seminars and majlis’s that took place equipped the guests to ensure that you were ready and prepared for the journey of a lifetime.

The hosts ensured that there was a member of staff available to attend your needs 24/7!

The scholars were an absolute must, they provided the enlightenment that one needed for such a blessed and important journey to ensure your Hajj was completed in accordance to the sunnah and Faraidh of the amazing journey that our blessed prophet ‎ﷺ took.

I thought the guys were brilliant and I cannot tank them enough for their services. A journey that I will cherish and remember fondly for the rest of my life.

Jazza Kallah Khairun
