A dream come true

Being able to visit Afghanistan was a dream come true, Joe and Noory made it happened. The country has so much to offer in terms of ancient and modern history, landscape, local hospitality, food, sense of adventure, etc. Of course, there is a level of risk associated with travelling to Afghanistan, but Joe, Noory and their local team are ensuring the maximum level of security possible.

Look no further! Safarat is top notch

Fantastic travel agency who knows the country inside out. Very experienced and fully equipped drivers (kudos to Noory and Shamsudin!), ready for any mechanic or other problem on the way. Very resourceful and dedicated. I would not even think of using another agency in this fascinating and unexpectedly friendly country

Couldn’t recommend highly enough

I went to Afghanistan with Safarat in 2023. It was a last minute decision, and Joe was amazing at making himself available at all hours to answer my many questions as I got organised.

The two weeks I spent with Safarat was priceless. Due to Joe and Noory’s experience and contacts, I got to experience Afghanistan at a deeper level than simply visiting the plethora of historical sites - which alone is simply mind boggling, as there are entire citadels from Alexander the Great, and ancient Buddhist stupas just sitting there baking under the sun.

Thanks to Safarat, I was able to have meaningful conversations with Afghans and understand their experiences, and have my own ideas and preconceptions challenged and in some cases simply blown away.

I felt so safe and looked after - not only by Safarat, who treated me like a little sister, but by Afghan people in general, who are ridiculously kind, welcoming and friendly. The young soldier who gave me sweets, the older gentleman who helped me with my hijab, the women who were so happy to invite me into their homes, and the village elders who assisted me as I scrambled up an ancient fort.

I can’t recommend Safarat enough, so much so, that I’ll be joining them again this year to explore another part of this beautiful country.

Travels in Afghanistan with Safarāt

Travels in Afghanistan with Safarāt
Upon returning to my home in Wales, I could not feel more distant from the splendidly vibrant bazaars of Kabul, or the remote villages we visited in Nuristan where life revolves around tight-nit community and barter-era trade systems. The Taliban felt, quite correctly, thousands of miles away. Yet both countries possess an immense sense of welcome. Wherever we traveled in Afghanistan our visits were greeted with the warmest hospitality and steaming mugs of sheer chai. We were accepted and permitted to talk openly, in turn hearing personal views and experiences from past decades of turmoil. Travelling with Joe and Safarāt has been a most revelatory and incredible adventure, an adventure I never imagined possible. I am hugely grateful to Safarāt for enabling such a wonderfully mind-opening journey, and I return instilled with hope for Afghanistan’s future years.

Professional and meaningful trip

Recently travelled with Safarat and have come back with a changed perspective on what life is really like in Afghanistan and the importance to the people living there of being able to re-engage with people from other backgrounds. The level of professionalism in all aspects of the trip was beyond expectations.

I had the trip of a lifetime with Safarat.
They were very well organised and we saw a lot of wonderful things including a meal with local people, camping and meeting local Taliban who were very friendly and visiting the British Cemetry.

Wakhan - what an experience

I visited the Wakhan Corridor on a custom itinerary with Joe and Noory. They are a highly professional team operating in Afghanistan. Will be back and recommend anyone considering travelling to the country to at least have a chat with the pair of them. Afghanistan is stunning and not to be missed. Go with these guys to get the best out of the country.
