The gear is really good when working…
The gear is really good when working away from people - the software is very intuitive to use and the pupils like it - getting it set up has been an issue - we were using chrome books and there has been a big issue trying to get it working with new Google Play Store settings.
The other main issue is that by working over bluetooth (usually great) means that blocks are often picked up by neighboring groups which has caused confusion by controlling other groups blocks! Setting them up slowly is key to getting them paired correctly!
A good product but needs a bit of careful planning to get right.

Unfortunately, we can't quite control how our app reacts to changes made by Google but we are working tirelessly to be better prepared and have on-hand support to help you through any situation like this. In regards to Bluetooth, besides setting them up slowly and not having all groups pair at once, another tip is to watch the colors of the blocks. After you turn on a block and it pops up in the app, tap 'pair'. The block will start flashing a random, matching, color both on the screen and on the physical block. If they aren't the same color you can simply hit the 'x', if they are the same then you are set to hit the check! I hope this helps make things a bit easier for you, feel free to reach out to us at support@samlabs.com with any questions you may have.

Need more improvement
Would love to see more sensors to make Sam more compatible as Arduino meanwhile SAM could do better by listing the Bluetooth connection model serial number. Teachers were complaining about pairing issues in one classroom.

Bumpy start but well liked product
Sales and technical support is wonderful. The actual product is great as well. Unfortunately, with more student use, we have found that the sensors tend to come apart from the casing easily, or the usb port falls into the casing, so we have to remove the casing to fix it. In addition, access to the app through Chromebooks has been spotty. We had a very bumpy start while trying to introduce the program and product. Once there, teachers and students love it.

I enjoyed the class! I have been using the SAM Labs blocks for about three years, but have not really had the opportunity to sit down and work with them and the updated app. I was excited to have this and the rest of the courses offered at this time. Looking forward to the rest of the course.

Unique wireless, Bluetooth-enabled blocks and wealthy Resources
SAM Labs blocks are unique and strangely different from other STEAM products all over the world.
SAM Space app can interact with both physically and virtually.
And it is great and wealthy learning resources such as microbit and workbench for learn to code.
My students and daughter review is that SAM Labs is great to work with. It is very interactive for kids.

Servo Motor
The servo motor was a welcome interesting new addition to my collection of over 20 SAM blocks, which have been enjoyed by my grandchildren aged 9 and 7. They will undoubtedly love playing with the SAM blocks again when the coronavirus lockdown measures are lifted.
