Outstanding HELOC Experience with San Francisco Federal Credit Union

I cannot say enough great things about my HELOC experience with San Francisco Federal Credit Union (SFFCU). From start to finish, the process was smooth, efficient, and genuinely pleasant—something I never thought I’d say about a loan process.

Tim Ma was the standout. His professionalism, lightning-fast communication, and true concierge-level guidance set a completely new standard for what a loan officer should be. Tim was reachable anytime via text or phone, answered questions immediately, and proactively guided me through every step. I always knew exactly where things stood and what to expect next.

For context, this was a night-and-day comparison to my experience with Navy Federal Credit Union. With Navy Federal, I could barely reach a human being when I called—never mind my assigned loan officer, who was essentially unreachable by phone. Emails would maybe get a response after several business days, if at all. They dragged the process out for over five months, wasting an incredible amount of my time with little progress or communication.

By contrast, SFFCU closed my loan in just 45 days. That alone speaks volumes, but the quality of service makes it even more impressive.

I will 100% be a repeat customer with San Francisco Federal Credit Union. My only regret is that I gave Navy Federal Credit Union any of my time in the first place. If you’re considering a HELOC and want speed, transparency, and top-tier service, do yourself a favor and work with SFFCU—and ask for Tim Ma.

Highly, enthusiastically recommended.
