But after reviewing multiple sources, reviews here and receiving pricing information of around €6000 for a
6-week Jyotish course (with the same cost for the online), the price raised high concern and red flag.
For this duration and delivery, the cost appears disproportionately high, compared to many very well know and established Jyotish programs in India that offer very deep knowledge, longer training periods, and direct mentorship with very experienced masters at much much lower prices.
Such a pricing makes it very important to carefully evaluate what is actually included and whether the overall value justifies the investment.
I strongly encourage all students to compare alternatives, assess the depth of the curriculum, make a conscious and well-informed decision before committing.
If you want American teachers in India, then this is the place for you.
Going all the way to India to have American teachers was not the experience I signed up for. It felt clicky, and the teachers would walk past you in the grounds with no eye contact, acknowledgement or greeting, when students would all smile and say hi - that seemed very odd. The condescending tone between teachers and students was strong. Anand's wisdom talks were the only highlight. For me, anyway. I did leave before the full 3 weeks were up as it just didn't sit right with me. Oh, and my room had black mold growing in it :( PS Looking at other reviews where it states negative reviews have been taken down, is the only reason I am posting this. I don't like bullies and people have a right to speak their truth.
As a follow up to Sattva's response...... I was unable to enter the date I attended as it is blocked off, but I do have better things to do with my time than review a place I never went. And the date is irrelevant. I attended. I did not have one Indian teacher during my time at Sattva. That is a fact, accurate and verifiable. I was there! Anand did his journeys and wisdom talks, but the teacher trainings and classes were all taught by past foreign students. For me, personally, I went to India to experience practicing authentic yoga, in the birth place of yoga, not with someone who did their training a year prior. That isn't authentic to me.
The mold issue was addressed immediately. I also never had hot water my entire stay and that was unable to be fixed. And the ashram was full so I didn't have the option to move unless I wanted to share a room with a stranger. No thanks.
My experience was accurate and is verifiable. As I shared, I have a right to share my experience (isn't that what Trustpilot is for?) and to see a defensive response to someone's feedback, clarifies all the other feedback you see on this site. I know for sure I was not the only person who felt this same way during my time there. But this feedback is my experience.

Best Yoga Training Center.
I was at Sattva Yoga Academy, and I completed my 200-hour training. My Experience was amazing. Anandji, who is the Master Teacher he is amazing. He knows all the methods, techniques, and I have learnt so much from him and all the teachers - Michael, Karen, Lisa, Saraswati, Patricia, Allegra, and all other teachers are very cooperative, and they will accommodate your requests and teach you very nicely, moreover, they have regular classes on their website, which is fantastic, i saw some negative reviews too, but i think they are from competitors to bring the good brand down, My experience with entire Sattva team was amazing, I am happy to see that how this is managed, from my flight to retreat and again back to airport i felt that i am in safe hands, first i was wondering how they are managing but after visiting Sattva, i realised that this is the best training center.
I would highly recommend a visit to Sattva and you will see the difference.
I will be back again, Sattva :)
Thank you for helping me and upgrading my Yoga Skills and giving me the best experience.
All the best :)

A Student’s Warning: Patterns of Humiliation, Suppression, and Broken Trust
As a student of Sattva Rishikesh, I expected guidance, growth, and integrity. Instead, I witnessed deeply troubling patterns. Staff and students are often publicly humiliated or silenced, while leadership enforces a rigid hierarchy under the guise of unity. I have personally seen students crying after being deeply insulted, and leadership’s ego is well known. Repeated reports of inappropriate behavior cannot be ignored — this is unacceptable. I often wonder what is truly being taught when those in charge cannot manage their own anger.
The teacher–student relationship is sacred. Any misuse of this trust for emotional or sexual gain is a violation of ethics and a betrayal of everyone seeking genuine transformation. Overlooking such behavior harms the community and those who came with sincerity.
I have posted reviews in the past highlighting these concerns, but they were deleted, showing a clear pattern of suppression. This makes it even more critical for students and participants to speak up. Silence protects those abusing power and allows harmful patterns to continue unchecked.
If you have witnessed or experienced anything similar, share your truth. Document what you see, speak responsibly, and support others in coming forward. Collective awareness and courage are the only ways to hold leadership accountable. Demand transparency, stay alert, and uphold integrity — the future of the community depends on it.

Loved my time there
Loved my time there, loved the teachers, and consider Anandji to be an amazing teacher. The accommodation was great, the food too, and the teacher training was one of the best ones I ever got. Truly amazing, and can’t wait to return for the master training
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I…
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I signed up for the 200-hour YTT at Sattva. I’d been practicing yoga for a few years, mostly on and off, but something inside me was craving a deeper experience. I wanted to understand more than just the poses — I wanted to reconnect with myself.
Sattva gave me that and more. It wasn’t always easy — there were moments when I felt totally out of my comfort zone — but looking back, those were the parts that helped me grow the most.
The teachers were real — they cared, and you could feel that. The community became like a family, even though we were all from different countries and backgrounds. And the place… being in Rishikesh, surrounded by the mountains, it just felt sacred.
This wasn’t just a training for me. It was a turning point. I don’t say that lightly.

I would give -10 if I could
Where do I start?
Did anyone say cult? Well it seems to be another one of these Ashram/spiritual/give me your money type cult.
The food was just okay, and the accommodation wasn't much better.
As for the so-called "guru," I wouldn't label him as such. His talks were nothing more than anything you find online, no profound wisdom there. He seemed to rely on the old sales trick of inserting the word "YES" every couple of sentences to manipulate your thinking into a positive state. Did anyone else say HUGE ego? The way he looks down on everyone is a clear indication of what you are dealing with.
Honestly, it's disheartening to see people fall for this kind of business. When spirituality is mixed with business, it feels like you're scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's reminiscent of past "gurus" who turned out to be shams, exploiting people's vulnerability for sex and profit. Their promises of enlightenment often masked a deeper agenda of manipulation and financial gain.
It's truly sad to see how easily people can be misled by such charlatans.
Egoistic "Guru"
The Guru is always talking about ego, but the biggest ego of all seems to be his own. There's a hierarchy in the academy where they teach that we are all one, yet in reality, they place themselves above others and treat the employees terribly. The way they treat the people working in the kitchen shows their true face. I know some employees haven't been paid, and everything they preach is a lie, just a cover for what's really happening behind the scenes. We don't need more gurus who manipulate us; we need teachers who help us realize our own potential. We don't need more followers, more separation, or more gurus who just talk but do not embody their teachings.

authentic Yog-Vedantic teachings at Sattva Yoga Academy
the encounter with Sattva Yoga Academy, Anand and all the community was a catalyzer for big transformations and from the first time I keep going back to the Source to recharge and dive deep into the self journey and every time they welcome myself fully and I feel home. The experience there is phenomenal, the authentic Yog-Vedantic teachings are shared with generosity and devotion with the intention to empower people in the direction of a fearless life, a life that you can have reverence for.
The place is beautiful, clean and with a wise and profound energy at the feet of Himalayas where great RIshis were used to live. that energy is still embedded in that space. A river is flowing next to the property and there we meditate in the morning, My heart chants the sound of that river often :)
The experience is very personal as always, we are the experiencer and the experience itself, but I guarantee any kind of experience you will have there it s going to be a catalyzer for your own evolution which at the end is the true meaning of life, evolve. So i felt the call and I went there and was one of the best choices of my life. Sattva increase the strength of your being, open your mind and connect your heart to the eternal field of wisdom that is everywhere.
My great recent visit to Sattva
I love Sattva yoga academy. I'd been going to Sattva for many years. I did my 200ytt, 300ytt, 500ytt and master teacher at Sattva.
The rooms are big and comfortable, the food nourishes and supports the deep inner process, and the teachers are professional and involved.
There is a lovely spa, pool and cafe to give the experience a total 5-star rating.
I sincerely recommend the place.

The teachers are very well educated
The teachers are very well educated. They give us deep insight in the yoga history, philosophy and the practice of yoga. The accommodation is very good and the food is simple but healthy. It's an amazing place in the laps of mountains in Rishikesh.
Can't even give them a star
Can't even give them a star. They don't deserve a star.Very bad experience. Their behavior is not good at all. Moreover, the goods here are very cheap. The rooms are not clean at all. Moreover, they are taking too much money

Life Transforming
I first came to Sattva Yoga Academy in April 2013 and since then I've returned to Sattva several times a year. It is my home away from home, my sanctuary where I get to immerse myself in the profound and deeply transformative teachings and practices of Sattva Yoga. I am forever grateful to Anand Ji for the impact that he and his dharma has made on my life. And I am blessed to be apart of this ever growing, international and evolutionary community of inspired yogis. Om shanti.
I’m so grateful for the teachings, highly recommend
I’ve been to various yoga retreats/studios in India, Thailand and Bali but nothing comes close to Sattva and the teachings there. I whole heartedly recommend this place to everyone, whether you’re a deep practitioner or a complete novice, Sattva is so much more than what most would imagine is yoga. It’s an experience that is difficult to put into words.
A friend had recommended Sattva Connect to me during lockdown, which was honestly such a help during that time. I also ended up taking the 300 YTT online, then finally made it to India for another retreat.. in person is MAGICAL and so healing. I felt extremely grateful that I got to experience the teachings in person and be surrounded by people with such beautiful energy. It felt as if everything I had unknowingly been searching for had been found, I had come home.
Sattva is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, about 30mins drive from Rishikesh itself, with a beautiful little river running beside where you can meditate or take a dip (it’s refreshingly cold!) The forest is vast and lush, you may find some cheeky monkeys jumping in the trees and many stunning birds singing throughout the day.
The teachers and staff are all incredible, I’m so grateful to them all for their time, love and wisdom. I felt completely supported, thank you.
A lot of the food that they make is also grown on their organic farm, which I will definitely make a priority to visit on my next trip.
I could go on, and on.. I highly recommend. Even if you don’t want to be a yoga teacher, the YTT’s are for anyone and everyone, to learn, connect, evolve, heal, love.
Caution: Sattva
I have written about my experiences at Sattva and they get deleted… as do others that have negative reviews. What does that say about Sattva? As Shakespeare said” Ye doth protest too much!!!”

A place for transformation
I have attended multiple trainings (including YTT) over the years at Sattva Yoga Academy and going back in 2022. Every time it is like coming home. The location is magical, the teachings are transformational, and the staff is so kind and caring and supportive. The accommodations are just right to support your stay there. Rooms have heat and a/c and are very clean. The staff is very personable and they always try to meet specific needs. Anand's teachings are meant to raise your level of consciousness, to rise above the stories in life that are holding you back from living a joyful, purposeful life. It can be uncomfortable at times to finally face your reality and move beyond it but you could not be in a more supportive place to do that kind of personal work.
I had an amazing time here, but...
At first I (male) had an amazing time here, truly life changing. The best part was the space and the people. The teachers were pretty good. Some really good, some less. The head teacher teaches very good classes. After some time there I realized some things weren't as love and light as they made it seem on the surface. Sadly, teachers also remained silent and silenced others when allegations were made towards the school. It would have been nice to get an honest statement of the truth. Personally I think sexual relations can be healing yet require the utmost responsibility and care towards one another and otherwise its wrong for anyone in a position of power to have that sort of contact with those in a vulnerable position. If you want to learn yoga here just be aware
