I would have given a better score, but Save a Lot is the only grocery store that I have found that doesn't take the OTC cards! It's very inconvenient!

Normally I really like going to the store and I don't have a problem but my recent visit Thursday June 26th I purchased two watermelons and when I got home and cut them open they were both rotten and it was for a baby shower I was so disappointed. You really need to check your dates on stuff and merchandise. And I also noticed mayonnaise that was about to expire in one month that's an awful lot of money to spend on a large jar of mayonnaise and have expired in one month the Tanger looked Gray it should be white so I checked two of the crates and they all had August expiration date

My son bought me a gallon of chocolate…

My son bought me a gallon of chocolate milk on June 23 2025 a day before thr sell by date of June 24 2025. The milk was sour!!! I am a 76 year old house bound veteran who is disabled. My son comes once a week. I put the milk in the freezer and had him take it back today June 29 2025 to exchange it! They refused to take it back because he did not have the receipt! I did not ask for a refund merely an exchange for their spoiled product that was spoiled whrn they sold it. This is the second time I have had an issue with this store under this management!!! I do not have money to throw away so I will no longer shop there and I will tell everyone I know about there spoiled product and extremely poor customer service!!!!!

Bad quality produce

Although I've noticed the staff has become a lot more pleasant The of produce continues to be poor. The quality of meats are questionable but the prices are high considering the location and demographics of the customers.
The lack of selection for healthy eating is almost non-existing at this location in Baltimore on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Quality With No Attitude Only Urgency

If Save A Lot wants business and the locals to spend money on their products; I suggest them to make sure they have all the produce in stock. Hire employees with the drive to work urgently without any personal attitudes. Stock more types of berries with a variety of vegetables.

AVOID they allowed skimmer devices

AVOID they allowed dozens upon DOZENS of people with food insecurities get scammed out of their benifits leaving them with nothing. They were involved with the skimming devices and Heather's attitude sucks, we lost over$392.88. because they had a skimming device. Save alot will not help anyone, blessing tho they sell expired food anyways. I will be looking into an attorney to sue them for NOT protecting their customers, privacy the machines should be checked hourly and immediate notice to customers upon discovery of fraud,
upon speaking with angie the stores "mgr" she stated that she spoke with the franchise owner and he agreed to bad. she also stated that the police didn't find a skimmer device, which the police said they in fact DID and have it in their possession.. nothing but a bunch of low down lying snakes, they must feel at home with their rat problem, and expired food they sell ..Zero awareness zero accountability. I've made sure to report the rats , and expired food to the Pennsylvania department of health and welfare. you can bet if someone stole from them or wrote a bad check they'd go after them for compensation

Bad customer service, store closes as soon as 40 minutes before advertised time.

I came to the store at 8:42pm to buy a couple of items I needed. I was turned away by the security guard at the door and was told they close at 8:40pm. I pointed him to the sign which had clear sign printed business hours of 8:00am to 9:00pm and at the of writing this review Google also claims the same hours. Security guard suggested I bring it up with the manager and in response I accepted. Security called the manager over, Maria, and I explained the situation, suggested that if they’re going to be closing almost half-an-hour sooner than the stated time then it needed to be advertised. Despite my efforts at being polite Maria very rudely refused entry and walked away. I then asked for the corporate number to which she refused to provide it “because it’s company privacy” and proceeds to tell me to look it up on Google. I understand business hours, I made sure I had enough time to arrive, get what I needed and leave before the end of business hours. What I don’t understand is shutting the store 20 minutes before the advertised business hours, you’d expect more seriousness out of a large corporation like Save-A-Lot, and a lot more of professionalism out of a store manager, Maria was far from professional.

Speaking of, corporate number is (314)-592-9100 if anyone ever finds themselves needing to use it.

I had a terrible experience at Save A…

I had a terrible experience at Save A Lot. The meat section is absolutely disgusting—most of the products look old, discolored, and smell bad. I wouldn’t trust buying any meat from here. To make things worse, the manager, Ishmael, is incredibly rude to customers and has awful hygiene. I already made a promise not to revisit the store if he would be there or around the food, very nasty attitude. He doesn’t care about customer service or maintaining a clean store. Save your money and shop elsewhere

Ground beef

Ground beef, any number of times I have purchased this product 75% of the time tastes funny, stinks when cooking, I've ruined far too many spaghetti sauce and goulash sauce with this! I will never buy ground beef from this store again! Missouri and Cleveland Street

Shopping for savings

I've been a Save a Lot customer on Stony Island since 2009 when it was 24 hrs and the store always had excellent workers and managers. I shopped there today and the remolding has made the store brighter. My cashier was a young lady named Edi and she was awesome, she greeted me with a big smile and hello...she was able to answer the few questions I had about some items I wanted and when we finished she said thank you have a nice day. There was nobody else in line so she moved carts back to the door and sweep around the registers. I will definitely give her 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and keep coming back even though I don't understand why this store is only busy during the first of the month. Fully stocked with great regular prices...I missed it while it was closed, I'd hate for it to close permanently....

Wrong direction save a lot

Wrong direction save a lot. Used to shop your store 95% now 5%. Don't want a app on my phone. Don't drink soda eat chips or buy cheap mac & cheese so your free perks mean nothing to us. Now we get no flyers & sales are only for those with the app. So guess what we shop most everything elsewhere now. Today was Friday at rush shopping time went in to buy 2 items & there were 2 shoppers in your store. Hello does that tell you something. I don't want you to fail but this direction is going that way.
