The Councils parking arrangements for…

The Councils parking arrangements for its area are draconian and unhelpful to people who visit.
Ether for a Day.
Or for longer, staying in B&Bs Hotels or cottages through sites like Airb&b.
Sykes.
Places like Staithes beautiful, but small village ,where it is not built for Cars to park.
Scarbourgh Council runs a Car Park at the top of the steep hill that runs down to the village.
It is uncept, and filled with sinage, making it hard to know where you can and can not park.
The machine where you pay says price for 1 hr, 2 hrs then 4 hrs?.
No3, about the time you need to walk down look around have a bite to eat, and a pint, then back to your Car.
Why?.
There are parking areas for residents!, that for the most stand half full or empty, so not what is needed, just a guess!.
The rest, is VERY EXPENSIVE.
If you are staying in the many places you can rent in the Village, You can only pay for 24 hrs.
And you are not given a area where you can do that.
As residents have,POOR.
GET IT WRONG after fighting through the maze of signes, and prices, and areas and you WILL GET A £75, FINE.
even if you have paid for the place.
If you are disabled, SAME CHARGE.
Its a disgrace that Scarbourgh Council has no SYMPHONY FOR, NONE.
Money for their ranks of stay at Home working Officers, abd usless Councallors (labour) in the main.
Do i want to rent or visit again?.
NOT A HOPE IN HELL.
Scarbourgh Council gets a ,0.
For tourist help.
0 for trying to hrlp buisnesses, in the likes of Staithes.
0, for quality of parking areas.
0 for trying to attract visators to these most beautiful coastal spots.
0 for upkeep of right of way, walkers routs, Cleveland Way, etc.
No sinage, or poor sinage.
Pathway upkeep, abysmal.
Overall upkeep, extremely poor.
Very sad for the BEAUTIFUL NORTH EAST COAST.

A Great help this past 12 months!

Over this past year with covid I have needed to complete forms for support through Scarborough Borough Council. I have to say that they have been very efficient and prompt in helping get funding to support us through this difficult time with our holiday cottage business. I will always complain about poor service, and feel it is important to also highlight good service. Thank you SBC you have certainly made this difficult time a lot less stressful!

Most ignorant

The most ignorant, biased council i have ever dealt with in my life! Was on holiday and parked at the promenade, displayed my Blue Badge and clock. Was away shopping and came back to a parking ticket for parking in a restricted street. With no signs saying this we went a walk to find an old sign hidden behind a building where it could not be seen from the street. I appealed the ticket and was refused, i appealed to the highest tier and was refused so i refused to pay it. Scarborough council put the case to sheriff officers and i had to pay £176! Disability discrimination by a council that claim to be disability friendly! I would never go on holiday to scarborough and would advise anyone else, in particular disabled to boycott it!

Car park on "Spa Drive" illegal?

Recieved a parking PCN on a stretch of road known only to Scarborough parking services as Spa Drive. Only issue is, they have not responded to me to prove Spa Drive even exists. Only record of a name for that stretch of road is Cleveland Way (check Google maps between Foreshore Road and the Spa Complex). Have SBC broken their own planning regulations and failed to legally register a name for this so called car park. Likely yes, because no one else in the whole of Britain, but parking services has any record of a road called Spa Drive in Scarborough. I've done the seaches and challenge anyone there to disprove my claim. Had no response from anyone when emailing various local dignatories. Parking services refuse to answer calls and emails regarding damage to my car when PCN applied under my windscreen wiper. Why should anyone pay for parking down there in the first instance. No proof of address means no proof of legal planning to erect parking meters. Therefore the parking charges are also illegal. Come on SBC, lets have a response to my questions please.

Shockingly bad

Shockingly bad, even the answering phone service is repetitive.
Customer service is abysmal, cannot honestly say I’ve had a good experience with them.
Even a compliant takes them 28 days to reply.
Very frustrating.

Excellent service 9 times out of ten

Excellent service 9 times out of ten. Employees working directly with the public are professional and helpful, on the phone, using phone contact centre, and some environmental department staff.

Housing benefit and Customer First Centre all very good and helpful. Do not trust phone conversations! Get the name of the person to whom you spoke; document your conversation. Phone conversations may be recorded, BUT may be erased, and the person to whom you spoke may not make any or accurate notes!

Worst interactions are related to complaints, when council staff use a bomb when only a tiny hammer is needed to resolve the matter.
