excellent customer service

I had an excellent customer care experience with Scarpa direct. My leather walking shoes were returned, tested and found to have a fault and they were replaced and upgraded free of charge.
Their shoes and boots are very comfortable and despite being leather, are light.
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy their shoes or boots again.

Dissatisfied with customer service

I choose this brand for its long standing quality and expected a customer service. I decided to buy directly from scarpa.com my boots. I was 7 days late (21 instead of 14) to exchange for a larger size, although I understand this is their policy service wise this is a poor performance.

Very slow combersome after sales. Sent back half semi repaired shoe

Boots can be good and I have many styles/uses of them. But my experience with their after sales was quite poor. They need many documents and paperwork and very super slow. Had the shoes only 6 months and the mescalito boots sole had worn down with periodic use and the heel had disintegrated. I sent them back for a repair/replacement and it took them 2 months to send me back the same shoes with a slightly firmer heel but still not fixed firm like the other shoe. The sole was untouched /unrepaired and sent back as I sent to them. It seems to me even statutory warranty doesn't mean too much if after sales takes months and does little rectification. Just received them back from mountain boot today. My experience with after sales and quality will impact my choice of shoe in the future. For a £180 pair of shoes you would expect better.

Excellent customer service

I bought a pair of mid-GTX walking boots 4 or 5 years ago and they were really comfortable. Unfortunately, they began to leak but all boots with seams leak eventually (waterproof socks is the workaround). Then I noticed that the seam was starting to come away at a point where 3 pieces of leather came together.
I knew they were out of warranty and I couldn’t find the receipt from the shop I’d bought them from so I wasn’t expecting anything really, but I contacted the Scarpa customer service team to see if I there was anything I could do to prevent it getting worse.
To my amazement, the team at Scarpa asked to inspect the boots and sent a prepaid return label to do so. They then offered a replacement pair (the now upgraded mid GTX 2). These are ideal and even more comfortable than my previous pair. The seam design is different so hopefully will survive my hiking for several years.
The level of communication from the customer service team was excellent and I’ll definitely buy Scarpa again.
Thanks Scarpa

I have purchased Two pairs of Scarpa…

I have purchased Two pairs of Scarpa hiking boots in the last 12 months. A pair of Mescalito pro gtx hiking boots, I had them less than 8 months and they started letting in water, On advice from the company I bought them from I sent them back, which they said could take up to 4 weeks for them to look at them. I hike a lot so in the interim period I bought a pair of Scarpa Rush gtx..5 weeks later I had an email from the company who told me that the ingress of water was due to my toe hitting the upper inside of the toe box wearing the membrane through.
I bought a probe camera and checked myself, looking at the membrane, it was worn, but it was flimsy. There was a small area of the side kick band which had come unglued and no doubt let the water in. I also checked the Scarpa Rush gtx with the camera and these too had wear signs on the inside upper area of the toe box, 6 weeks of wearing, 250km and although not yet leaking, the wear marks indicate that the membrane inside the boot is flimsy and unreliable, compared with a pair of Scarpa B2 Manta gtx Which I bought many years ago, has a much sturdier membrabe inside and still has no indication of wearing through. I wrote to Scarpa and sent photos, and the report from the company I bought the boots from, and..Nothing. No reply..
If you want a pair of robust waterproof boots for expedition treks..Do not buy the Mescalito pro gtx or the Rush gtx.
I find it hard to see how all 3 pairs of boots are advertised as gtx yet the Mescalito and Rush inner membrane appears to be so much more fragile than that of the older Manta gtx.
And no response from Scarpa.. Shame..

Squeaky Soles

I have now had two pairs of Scarpa boots start squeaking terribly when walking on any surface type. The Presa soles are just not good as far as I can tell. In both cases it started after a few months and then never goes away. Avoid Presa soles at any cost.

Scarpa Terra GTX…

Bought a pair of Scarpa Terra GTX walking boots. I used them for dog walking on canal paths and fields. These are made from Italian leather. They lasted me 8 months. The leather had come away from the sole. When I contacted them and sent them back and said they couldn't refund me the money even though they have a 2 year warranty. They offered me a discount on another pair. I paid £200 for them. I've owned and worn trainers longer than that.

Scarpa hasn't honoured its warranty

I bought a pair of Scarpa Kima Golden Gate fell running shoes in October this year. I went for two runs in them and, by the second, the sole on one pair had started to come away from the upper. I got in touch with their customer service team via the warranty link on their website. I have been waiting a month now for a substantive response, which is, frankly, terrible. I would not trust the warranty they claim to offer.

I can't say if my experience of these shoes is representative - I have had two other pairs of Scarpa shoes which have lasted very well. I am disappointed by this experience however and am unlikely to return to the brand.

Not as good as the older model

I have two older pairs of the Scarpa Ribelle lite (the previous model that is)
Both have served me really well.

The new design however is woefull. Mine leaked the second time I wore them and started to de laminate not long after.

Sadly, due to work during covid I was not able to get anything done about taking them back at the time. Obviously it is too late now. I’m only posting here because I keep seeing reviews for this boot and I just do not think they are up to scratch.

And as for the strange clown like toe box 🤦‍♂️
It makes it way more difficult to be precise with your footwork especially if you wish to torque your toes into cracks.

The only good thing I could say is that they are definitely lighter than the older models but you are not going to notice much difference in reality.

Don’t buy the terra gtx the quality is shocking. Split where the leather joins to the sole. Called them to arrange warranty replacement customer services are terrible. And the insult they said I’ve ordered a size too small. Absolute jokers avoid at all costs

Made in Vietnam

I recently purchased a pair of Mojito Trail GTX shoes online and noticed a "Made in Vietnam" label on the inside. Whilst I appreciate that it is some years since all Scarpa products were made in Italy, I was unaware that they have moved production out of Europe. I contacted them to let them know that they do not advertise this fact and that this had left me concerned that I had effectively bought Scarpa copies, but they could not even be bothered to reply. Be aware

Rubbish quality

Rubbish.... a pair of expensive walking boots that should have lasted years wore out within 12 months. Stitching broken, soles worn out. Don't waste you money.

They don't seem to be as good as they used to be!

Have worn Scarpa shoes for years and they were great. I still have a pair that I regularly wear from seven years ago. In April this year I bought a pair of Rapid XT and within a couple of months the shoe was starting to wear where my trousers rub against them (no fraying to the trousers). Now the sole is noticeably wearing down after regular but low level walks. Not sure if Scarpa have sold out or manufacturing in different factories but on the basis of these latest shoes, I will not rush to buy Scarpa again.

Scarpa Mescalito GTX Re-sole

I’ve had a pair of Scarpa Mescalito GTX for a couple of years, they’re the best shoes I’ve ever owned.

The soles were very worn through but Scarpa were no longer doing a colour I wanted. Then I found out that they could be re-soled.

It took a couple of months but they’re like new! Thanks for a great service. I got my favourite shoes back.

Guarantee is a total waste of time!!

I bought a pair of Ladies Terra GTX in October 24 as I have worn the same model for over 20 years and usualy get 3/4 winter wears out of them.In march 25 one boot started to take in water so I returned them to LD MOUNTAIN Centre (who actualy were totaly disinterested) and they were sent away to be checked. I received an email explaining they wouldnt refund or replace under guarantee as the fault lay in the way the boot was worn. Maybe my nails pierced the lining or they just didnt fit. Well I as I had done for many years had the boots fitted at LD MOUNTAIN centre and had used the same size and would have known if they didnt fit. I then sent a complaint which was forwarded to Scarpa who replied that it was the fit of the boot, maybe i used a different thickness of socks when fitted, - I used the type I wear obviously, oh or maybe I just hadnt fastened the laces tight enough well I am sure by now I am aware if a boot wasnt laced tight enough
I but either way the Guarantee wasnt valid.

Been wearing scarpas for many years

Been wearing scarpas for many years, loved the durability. Bought a replacement pair 12 months ago and sole has completely lifted off after very little use. Scarpas quality appears to have declined
Update; To their credit the store replaced them free of charge, no questions asked.

Scarpa Cyrus gtx men's boots

purchased a pair of Scarpa Cyrus gtx men's boots in Aug. 2024, however the seam stitching split in may 2025. reading reviews this appears to be a common fault on these boots. The retailer exchanged them after some argument on wear and tear, however these are no where near as good as the Scarpa boots i have had over the decades
