First 5 stars for the first order I made wrong and with the help of Scribe team I returned it.
Another 5 stars for Elan Superlight 40 disc. The wheels are very light and compared to the old wheels (with Al rims) the bike looks better, they are faster (at 30-40km/h), respond faster to accelerations and in terms of climbing the weight makes the difference.

These are my second pair of Scribe…
These are my second pair of Scribe wheel, the first pair is still in fantastic shape, I can certainly tell you the wheels are very strong, they hold up excellently on rough roads, and they are fast.
In addition, they stay true for a very long time, best wheels for the price by far.

30 months of ownership / still love my wheels / still great service
I've had my wheels for two and a half years and apart from tyre changes / disk swaps / cassettes replacement I've done nothing to them, not even looked at truing them.
Last week it started to not engage drive 100% of the time so I pulled the freehub apart, sorted it out but noticed the freehub had been scored by the cassette after over 1,000 hours of riding and three cassettes swaps.
Got on the chat with Scribe as I also wanted a part that I couldn't find on the website. A quick chat later and I had an email with a link to pay for all the bits I needed. Paid the bill and literally 30 mins afterwards there was a despatch notice in my inbox...
Ace wheels and fantastic service - it doesn't get any better than that :)

Bought a pair of elan sl 40s
Bought a pair of elan sl 40s. Nice build. On a spin on the frame they seem very well balanced which you can feel on the road. They were 1318g with rim tape so a bit higher than claimed. I use 28mm conti GP 5000 and they come up quite bit which is ace. Very please so far!

Regarding the minor weight discrepancy, the total wheelset weight that we provide on our website does not include the weight of the tubeless rim tape or the tubeless valves.
The listed weight is just for the wheelset itself, and this is standard practice within the bike wheel market.
We're also very pleased to hear that your Continental GP5000S TR 28mm tyres inflate to the width that you like.
The Elan SL+ wheels have a slightly wider internal width on the front rim (24mm up front and 21mm at the rear). This ensures that you'll enjoy excellent aerodynamics when running wider tyre widths and increased comfort when riding on rough/damaged roads.

I'm sorry to hear you feel disappointed with the delivery time. I can see that we hand-built and dispatched your wheels within 2 days of your order coming in back in June 2025.
We dispatched your wheels on a FedEx Express delivery service, which regularly delivers on a next-day basis within Ireland, but unfortunately this is not guaranteed. I can see your wheels were delivered within 2 working days.
I understand that you wanted your wheels for an event in the same week that you ordered them. However, since we hand-build all wheels to order (and it's not a process we like to rush), dispatch takes 1-3 working days.
I'm sure that you can also appreciate that we can have no control over FedEx's delivery times.
Hopefully, now that you've had a chance to ride with your wheels, you've been really enjoying them and the wheels themselves deserve a 5-star review!

Issues with my order but Scribe gave me alternative solutions
I was very excited to get a wheelset from Scribe. Unfortunately, due to a stock issue and a quality defect, I was informed by Scribe that they could not fulfil my original order. I was quite disappointed, but the Scribe team went above and beyond to make it right. They even offered me a free upgrade; unfortunately, the wheel was not within my criteria and I ended up cancelling my order. Overall, I was quite impressed with Scribe—they seem passionate about their products and they really proved to me that they care about their customers. I would definitely consider them for a wheel upgrade in the future.

Once again, we're very sorry for the unexpected and extremely rare problem that we had with our last remaining stock of the wheelset that you ordered.
Please let me assure you that this issue is most unusual. All of our stock goes through rigorous QC checks by our manufacturing partners before the individual wheel components are shipped to us for hand assembly here in Belfast.
We have extremely strict QC standards ourselves too, and on this occasion, we found a very minor surface irregularity in one of our rims. We care about and respect our customers, and we take great pride in only dispatching hand-built wheelsets that are strong, durable, ready to ride and in perfect condition.
As you mentioned, this meant we had to offer you an alternative wheelset, but we totally understand that this alternative wasn't quite right for you this time.
We hope that we can get you rolling on a different set of our Scribe or BEST wheels in the future.

Fast delivery
Fast delivery, great price, I bought the inception 50 for the wide rim, brass nipples and easy to replace j bend spokes, 32mm tyres popped on easily with a track pump, the hubs on these wheels are not at all noisy, my DT hubs are louder than these, took them out for a ride on a windy day, they are very stable in the wind, the only thing I would have liked is slightly longer tubeless valves as my track pump only just fitted but this could be my track pump, good performance for the price
