It starts sunny yellow, but fires to a lush red/orange with flecks of black. Absolutely spectacular with white or blue/green glazes, like our SP15 Turquoise, to contrast and quench those flames of color and scatterings of ash. Despite the name, it's a mild-mannered, easy-to-use mid-range stoneware, great for throwing and much, much more. Available in 12lb cubes. "Hellborn Red clay... has the perfect look for fall. I love a good speckle so excited to get glaze on them. We love your red clays and the speckle adds a bit of flare as well." ~ @hue.organic "It is soft to throw with slight grog to make it user-friendly, responsive, and forgiving on the wheel. If it had any more grog, I might shy away from it. I made a bud vase with a narrow neck with great ease, I was able to trim the base and details on the neck without the grog getting in the way or making deep grooves. Attaching a handle on the mug body felt great as the clay was able to firm up just enough to hold shape, but still plastic to bend into shape. The clay dries at a nice, even pace that seems to be less greasy than other dark clays that seem to have a slower drying time. Over all I loved my throwing experience with Hellborn Red and I can’t wait to get it fired and glazed!" ~ @a.f.pottery
