I am a slave to this site. since lockdown 1 I have tried to write every day, whether that is a covid diary entry or a short or longer story or a revision of a piece of work that didn't quite hit the nail on the head. Sometimes my imagination is devoid of ideas, but I find I can take leads and from the prompts and pictures as well as inspiration from other contributors. No other site does this. I have entered their competitions, but their canvas is wide open, I find I need some ideas prompting at times. And occasionally, I get a story selected which is like finding gold and makes me feel I can do this writing malarkey when I put my mind to it, and there is a joy that someone else is reading my stuff and appreciating it enough to share amongst other readers. Of course I wish it happened more often, but that is down to me to write better and that will only come from practise. So, thank you Secret Attic for giving me the impetus I need to keep working on this lockdown hobby beyond (hopefully) any more lockdowns.
The Secret Attic is in my DNA! I’ve had some of my stories selected which really is an honour, and I was amazed to be a ‘Weekly Write winner! I love the challenge of the weekly prompt, and the ‘Picture This’ competition always gets my creative juices flowing. I always look forward to receiving the hard copy booklet, mainly to read how the other authors have interpreted the picture. This is a great website, run by dedicated people, and I thoroughly recommended it to both experienced and new writers.
Inspiring and encouraging, Secret Attic is a family feel platform for all writers. Each month a variety of competitions offer opportunities to see work published. Highly recommended.
Once I discovered Secret Attic I became a fan. I enjoy the weekly words competition. I've been selected a few times but it's the joy of writing a response to the prompts which keeps me going. I have had a win in the monthly short story competition too. Spent the winnings on entry fees to other competitions.
A great organisation.
As a newbie writer, I have found Secret Attic to be a great resource.
Secret Attic is an excellent website to nurture and encourage writers. The competitions are well organised and communication is always really good between Secret Attic and myself. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone who loves writing to use the website and get involved with this fantastic writing community.
Absolutely love this group. They are putting out quality work, and pay promptly! Dutch
