I would not recommend this company…

I would not recommend this company under any circumstances. Several pieces of our furniture were significantly damaged during the move, and the customer service afterward was awful. The most frustrating part was that the company acknowledged the damage, offered a settlement, and repeatedly suggested they would make it right - only to never actually pay anything despite nearly a year of follow-ups.

This was not just a bad moving experience; it was a complete failure of accountability. They wasted our time, prolonged the process for months, and ultimately failed to stand behind their service. I would strongly advise others to stay away.

ATTENTION: Expect HARASSMENT if You Leave a Bad Review:

If you had issues with how they handled my job, instead of fixing the problems, they HARASS people with calls and emails DEMANDING to remove the review. On top of that, they even push a contract that would permanently SILENCE you from ever sharing the bad experience again.

No customer should be harassed or pressured into signing documents just to hide the truth. The Consumer Review Fairness Act protects our right to leave honest feedback, and the fact that they try to suppress it says everything about how they operate.

If you value transparency, professionalism, and accountability, BE AWARE before doing business here.

THIS is the reason behind their 5 start reviews

AVOID AVOID AVOID

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Seka Moving OUTSOURCED my move without warning.

I hired Seka Moving for a return cross-country move because of the trust they earned in my initial cross country move in 2022. I worked with Ashley to set up this move. She was adequate. Not nearly as thorough as my first time with Nick, but ok. I worked with Rob in the days leading up to moving day to schedule the time. Neither of them mentioned the possibility of Seka Moving outsourcing my move to a completely different company.

On the day of my move I open the door expecting to see Seka Moving uniforms and instead I see 3 guys in BLVD Moving uniforms. I almost told them they were at the apartment but I realized they were the same guys who I spoke to that morning, and they had my Seka paperwork. The truck was also a BLVD moving truck.

The packing and move out was fine but upon delivery I thought there was an issue with my TV because the detachable bezel was cracked. They convinced me it was just the bezel which I accepted (I wasn't crazy to believe it; just tired from the redeye I had to take across the country to meet the movers for the delivery.) They unpacked it outside and brought it in so I didn't get to see the box which in hindsight should have been a red flag. When I eventually unpacked the components to set it up and plugged it in I could see the inner panel was cracked, which is more expensive to fix than a replacement TV.

The delivery guys were actually quite pleasant overall and did great job and I truly hope they weren't just overcompensating because they knew there was a problem with the TV, but in hindsight I can't help but think they did know. I was told I would get a copy of the delivery bill of lading in my email and I did get an email after signing off but when I went to attach it to my claim it was actually just a survey they asked me to fill out about how they did! No delivery bill of lading.

The TV was $4200 at time of purchase. I sent in my claim and requested the current replacement price. They quoted the basic liablity of $92.40 and in a goodwill gesture offered $200. If Seka Moving had packed and moved me with the care they put into my first move I don't think I would have had a broken TV, but if I did I would have to accept this. They did not. They outsourced my move to a completely different, unvetted company with no warning. HAD Seka had let me know they were outsourcing my move I would have gotten additional insurance! If I even knew there was a remote possibility of outsourcing I would have gotten additional insurance. Nothing in my contract even hints at this. Instead I was blindsided after the window when additional insurance can be added.

Just AVOID. My entire 2022 move was perfect and I've since recommended them to many friends and Reddits but they are not the same Seka Moving from 2022. This is not an honorable company.

Formerly good moving company now untrustworthy

After successfully using Seka moving twice in past, this most recent move was nothing but a disappointment. This time I used their storage services to hold my belongings for 2 months and scheduled a delivery on August 1st which they missed by 8 days, leaving me hanging for over a week trying to get any information out of them.

Packing and load-out was barely acceptable work and the lead mover was quite aggressive about collecting significantly more than a 20% tip, an aggressiveness that is new for my experience with Seka.

However my scheduled delivery date was missed by **8** days. There was no proactive communication from the head office except the phone call the day before my move claiming they have an issue with their storage facility and "might" miss the move. After that it was full radio silence, I either couldn't get ahold of anyone at the office or I got a lot of "I don't know I'm not on ___ team so I don't know the status of your move". Every day I called and I kept getting a "oh in a few days".

When our delivery was finally scheduled, we were told that our delivery was 10pm on a Saturday which was inconvenient, however right as we were leaving the house in the early afternoon to see friends we got a call that the movers were 30 minutes away? And of course the final delivery included some frustrating damages to my property

I eventually found out this "issue" supposedly had been happening since July 22nd, only they NEVER bothered to reach out to inform me that my delivery date might be missed until the day before when it was too late to make better plans.

Delays and issues are understandable, but the inability to proactively inform customers of ACTUAL timelines other than "oh maybe in a few days" every other day is inexcusable. I am in the process of filing a dispute for reimbursement for incurred expenses and damages. Hopefully I will not have to escalate and will update this review with any results, but for now I wouldn't recommend this particular company's services.

Won't Return Stored Items

Do Not Use. Seka picked up my daughter's items for storage at the end of June, and return was scheduled for nearly two weeks ago. As of today, they have not returned her items (despite two scheduled appointments they then canceled), now claim to have moved those items out of state, are claiming malfunctions with the storage unit (two conflicting stories), and are refusing all requests to verify her items are safe and secure. We were pleased with the initial customer service contact, and the guys were diligent on the move out. However, none of those attributes matter when she simply cannot get her household goods back. This is particularly upsetting when considering things of high sentimental value. What's more, she is living in her new location without any of her household goods ... many of which she has had to replace. This situation is beyond distressing. Please do yourself a favor and consider one of New York's many other fine moving companies.

Worst company ever

Worst company ever. Be aware.
Ordered 2 trucks. Only one showed up. 3 1/2 hour later.
Second truck never materialized.
Movers stored furniture in a terrible way. Just thrown one on top of each other.
Broken furniture as well.

Disrespectful, Difficult, Disappointing Experience (From a Second-Time Customer)

Two years ago I gave SEKA Moving a well-earned 5 star rating, but today I'm changing it to 1 star.

I am writing this as a deeply disappointed repeat (and once happy) customer. Two years ago, I used SEKA Moving to move into my previous apartment and was thrilled with the service -- my agent was Michael and he was a dream to work with. He was helpful and checked in on me throughout the move to make sure everything ran smoothly. The two men who moved my stuff and drove the truck were wonderful as well and I was happy to tip them at the end. They moved my apartment without fuss or complaint. The entire experience was effortless, and ever since I have been recommending SEKA to anyone looking for movers.

My initial positive experience with SEKA is why I decided to use their services again; I felt this was a company I could trust. I fear that high praise has been tarnished by what I experienced during my move yesterday. An already hard move was made all the more difficult by this company.

What should have been a 3-4 hour experience wound up taking the entire day, which is not an exaggeration. Originally, my movers were scheduled for a 9-11 am window. That was pushed back twice, and I didn't wind up at my new apartment until around 9 pm.

Not only did SEKA's movers show up SIX HOURS LATE, but the men who moved my things took over two hours to load the truck. Why? Maybe it's because they were either staring at or talking on their phones for most of the move, completely ignoring me, the person who has been waiting on them for hours. I think when you're already running late, you should show a bit of urgency, especially if you have people depending on you.

I want to reiterate: the last time I used SEKA, the whole move took about 3 hours. Granted, I wasn't leaving my neighborhood at the time, but that's the precedent that was set: quick, careful turnaround with minimal hassle.

Not only were SEKA's movers late and lazy, but they barely spoke to me (I didn't even learn their names) and when they did, it was to complain about the amount of stuff I had and how "heavy" it was. I've moved before and know how to pack a box. Nothing was heavier than what two strong, healthy, grown men could handle carrying down the stairs and up again. I also watched them carelessly throw boxes clearly marked FRAGILE into the back of that truck without any tact.

And THEN, after all of that, they tried to shake me down for a $200 cash tip. I'm a young woman moving into an apartment by myself. I was alone. And now two grown men are refusing to leave until I tip them 20% gratuity for a job they were late for and did poorly? I only tipped them so they would leave, but I've already reached out to SEKA's customer care to have that money refunded. But after my experience yesterday, I don't actually think this company gives one ounce of thought or care to their customers.

I'm not expecting even an iota of my money back. If I wasn't alone, I wouldn't have tipped them at all because the service I received from them, and from the company as a whole, didn't warrant it. But I want it on the record that I was pressured BY SEKA'S MOVERS into giving a bigger tip than I was comfortable providing, and I believe they took advantage of the fact that I was a young woman alone.

My experience yesterday was nothing like the experience I had with SEKA a few years ago. Moving day sucked for me and my family because of this company.

SEKA: I hope you do better next time, but I won't be a repeat customer again to see it. However, I'm noticing a trend in your other poor reviews -- lots of repeat customers with horrible second-time experiences. Here's a tip: don't save your good people just for the first time around if you want customer loyalty.

You better believe I'm telling anyone who will listen about my experience with this company.

BEWARE - THEY DON'T CARE

We used SEKA for a move out-of-state because we used them in 2022 within NJ and they were great. This time around they were as bad as they were good. They were negligent in their handling of our property, damaged many valuables, didn't deliver all our property and showed up with a truck that didn't fit all of our things. I had to put 4 almost new pieces of office furniture on the street as I had no other means to move them. They take no responsibility for their negligence and appear to offer pennies per pound of damages, with complete disregard of the value of the item. It's a great business to have no zero standards, ethics and business acumen. Be CAREFUL!
