A WONDERFUL PLACE. KIMBERLY IS A GOD-SEND
Sensory Towne is a place where children 6 mos. - 8 yrs, of all abilities, can go to play. Oftentimes parents of kids on the Autism spectrum are judged by those who don't understand the behaviors of some kids with Autism. At Sensory Towne, parents can relax, because everyone there understands. Even kids who aren't in the spectrum have bad days, and those days are taken in stride. Everyone is encouraging to all the kids, not just their own.
The owner, Kimberly is an inspiration! She has a special kid with multiple needs, and because there was no space where she and her son could play without stares or comments. She left her career as a paralegal, went back to school where she worked in therapy for a number of years. Through trying to provide a space for Brandon, Kimberly has made a space for everyone, and she means everyone. Kimberly believes that all kids can play and learn from each other no matter what their superpower is. There are all kinds of sensory experiences, bumpy slides, various types of swings, there's a calming room for when parents or kids get over stimulated. The calming room is just that, quiet(er), dimly lit with comfy spots to sit, lay, or rock.
Sensory Towne is a place that will warm your heart, and Kimberly will steal your heart. I can't say enough good things about Sensory Towne. The one complaint I have is that Kimberly and Sensory Towne can't be replicated across the country. If you're ever in Jacksonville, FL, drop in and see it for yourself. Even if your kids have no diagnosed condition, they will LOVE this place!!
