Shares was built to help our users invest smarter. For too long, investing has been a single-player experience. We’re here to change this. Shares is not only a powerful investment platform, but a place for investors to build a better financial future. Inside the app users can invest in over 1,500 US stocks (plus ETFs and crypto in France) and get insights from fellow investors to make smarter investment decisions. We’re backed by top tier venture capital firms based in the US and Europe, having secured $40M at Series A at the start of 2022 and another $40M at Series B in July 2022.

Funds Blocked! No solutions - Bad assistance. Not serious. Avoid it !

Funds Blocked!!! I'm shocked because I transferred 10,000 EUR to Shares, invested it, sold my investments, and then when I tried to withdraw my funds... no way! They're asking me for tons of documentation regarding the source of the funds... , but the real issue is that they're asking me to send these documents to an email address that's been blocked by Google and other platforms. So now I'm stuck. They're not providing me with any alternative email addresses or other means to send them the documents proving the funds are legitimate. As a result, my account is locked, and so are my funds. The support team is just telling me to wait, and they don't seem to understand the problem themselves. It's a nightmare. I strongly advise against using this platform. Avoid it at all costs.

App flaky

I was enticed to try this Fintech investment app by a friend who provided a refer-a-friend (RAF) link. Shares scheme offers £5 for referee and £20 for referrer. It works by clicking a link, but that would not work for me via Brave or DDG browsers on my Android phone. Both have tracking protection built in, but that can be turned off: RAF tracking failed to work with said apps both with and without protection turned on. I finally installed Shares app via Android default Chrome browser, which has no tracking protection, but the referral still did not track.

Shares verify a customer's email by emailing them a "magic link", but that did not work for me either, again with and without tracking protection turned on and my email presumably remains unverified - yet my account still remains operational. "Magic Links" from other financial firms, including banks all still work fine - tested since.

Screenshots in parts of the app are disabled.

Messages to and from support cannot be copied and there is no option for obtaining transcript of conversations.

And DDG App Tracking Protection reports that the Shares app is consistently in top 2 for attempts to access my personal data out of 69 apps installed.

TBF, Shares Support manually added RAF bonuses quickly, undertook to address my concerns, and corresponded regarding Google and Trustpilot I submitted.

Despite Shares knowing my review was genuine (they explicitly asked me via in-app messaging) they have since required that I verify my Shares review by submitting my supposedly confidential Shares account details to them for "verification" via Trustpilot - namely account number, full name, telephone number and email. I did so, because had I not Trustpilot would have removed this review ("If we don’t hear from you within 3 days, your review may be taken offline").

I have also taken the opportunity to edit this review.

Works but sign up share reward could be better

I signed up with a friend and I can confirm it's legitimate. Good thing is you don't have to trade, just sign up and deposit £1 to get your free £5 share. Reward for first time sign ups could be better.

Customer support is also very helpful. Only annoying thing is £1 buying and selling fees and also the 30 day hold for the £20 you get from each referral but I get it.

Learn about investing

This app is good to use and makes investing easier. The communities feature where you can chat with other investors is fun and helps me decide on future investments. I've learnt a lot.
