Mat at Shinium was a pleasure to work with getting my ring made. He was super patient and helpful with ring design and redesign.
I could not be happier with my ring and the process.

We wanted wedding rings that were green and it was so hard to find anyone who work with electrum/green gold, this was the only maker we could find in Europe. So I travelled to the UK to pick up some custom made wedding rings and they looked fantastic. It was a good job with making the green colour pop really well. They also came in a fantastic case. My fiancé liked it a lot.

I ordered a handmade Santoku knife for my daughter's 18th birthday, as she follows my footsteps into the catering trade.
Throughout the process, everything was explained and we were given photos of the various steps, heat treating and shaping the blade, shaping the handle etc. We were given choices of handle material and the whole experience was fascinating.
My daughter now has a very well made knife which is a joy to look at, to hold, and most importantly, to use. It will undoubtedly last her for life.

Mat took some gold rings and added silver and gold to make some amazing keepsakes that remind me of my late husband. His work is exemplary and thoughtful. A great consultation to get exactly what we wanted. I wouldn't recommend any other jeweler higher.

I have ordered a few items over the years from Shinium but most precious to me were two stacked style rings that contained the ashes of my late parents.
Mat took my idea of the shape of the rings I wanted, created samples in wood to ensure he had understood my poor sketches, then sand casted (hugely fascinating process), using some silver from my late Mother's collection to create each ring.
He remained hugely sensitive, given the hugely emotional aspect of my part.
Communication throughout was exceptional, at each stage of the process, from design, work in progress to completion.

If you want high quality, unique pieces, Mat is the chap for the job.

Mat is an extremely talented and communicative goldsmith. He kept in touch in every stage of his work, from the very detailed offer he made, keeping exactly to our wishes for the rings’ parameters and ratio of metals, through making us somewhat of participants to the forging, and in the end in sending them extremely fast when they were ready. When we received them we saw that the quality of his work on the rings themselves and their beauty is unmatched, far exceeding what they seemed in the pictures. The only mistake of any of his potential customers will be to not purchase some of his products.

I have purchased three pairs of earrings from Shinium. Two pairs were designed by Mat after I sent a brief message to him with an idea I had. One pair are antibodies, which I wear when teaching students about the subject, the students have told me they are “very cool”. The other were a gift for my friend when she got a job as a neuroscience lecturer, they are neurones. I say pairs each earring is actually different, so they are an ‘odd’ pair and very lovely.
