Tour made easy

The cost of the tours, the itinerary, and also had the opportunity to speak on the telephone to a rep who address my concerns. Booking the tours was easy and provides the details of the tour.

Easy navigation of options

Easy navigation of options. Lots of information regarding each excursion. One item was confusing: you have to choose number of passengers before time of excursion, but time of excursion comes first on the info you enter.

Unsafe and Unreliable for Solo Travelers

I booked my first solo excursion online with Shore Excursion Group in December 2025 for a February 2026 NCL cruise. As a solo traveler, I carefully selected this excursion to ensure I had a safe, structured, and enjoyable experience in port. Less than two weeks prior to departure, a friend decided to join me, and she didn't want to join me on this excursion. So, I contacted Shore Excursion Group to ask about canceling; however, I was informed that I could not cancel within 14 days of departure and receive a refund.

I arrived in Mazatlan, Mexico, prepared and expecting to participate in the Mexican Hot Springs tour. Upon arrival, I was shocked to learn from the tour guides that I was the only person who had booked the excursion and that it was being canceled due to a 14-person minimum requirement. This information was never disclosed to me in advance. Instead of the experience I had planned and paid for, I was offered a transfer to a local beach for the full cost of $121.00. As a solo traveler in an unfamiliar port, this alternative did not feel safe, secure, or equivalent to the organized excursion I had booked. I declined, as I could have arranged a similar beach transfer through NCL at no cost.

The situation left me stranded, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. Shore Excursion Group enforced a strict 14-day cancellation policy when I attempted to cancel prior to departure, yet they failed to inform me that the excursion itself was contingent upon a minimum number of participants. If I had told that I was the only person booked on a tour requiring 14 participants, I could have made other plans ahead of time.

On 11 February 2026, I contacted Shore Excursion Group to request a refund. I spoke with Angel, who expressed surprise regarding the minimum requirement. I was assured that, after verification with the operator, I would receive a refund. Despite this assurance, I received neither a refund nor any follow-up communication.

On 23 February 2026, I contacted Shore Excursion Group again and spoke with Andrea. I was told that I would receive an email confirming my entitlement to a refund. To date, I have received neither the promised email nor the refund.

This entire experience has been unnecessarily stressful and upsetting. As a solo traveler, safety and reliability are paramount when booking excursions in foreign ports. Instead of feeling supported and secure, I was left feeling vulnerable, misinformed, and disregarded. What should have been an enjoyable day in Mazatlan turned into a logistical and emotional ordeal caused by Shore Excursion Group’s lack of transparency and failure to communicate critical information. As a solo traveler, I do not recommend booking with Shore Excursion Group.

Chilean Journey is the MOST Caring & Responsible in Sickness & Health

With this excursion we had Alwin, our Primary Tour Guide, and Lucas, Alwin's 2nd hand man , who held up the rear to make sure no one got separated from the group. As a 67 yr old woman, I felt very secure with these two gentlemen..

They both went above and beyond their job descriptions for one of our fellow travelers.
One of the ladies got food poisoning (1 of 2 cases that I know of) on Oceania Cruises. She is a diabetic whom had suffered with everything (for 4 days) that comes with food poisoning. Her vitals we way off.

She had not recovered by the time the cruise ended, on December 21, 2025. She needed serious medical attention. Oceania had transported her to the local Emergency Room (ER) in Santiago Chili on December 20, who per Alwin, releases anyone who isn't on their death bed. It seems they "assumed" she was more stable than she actually was. Back to the ship she went the same night, by

In my opinion, Oceania neglected to make sure she was in better health before they sent her on her way. They did nothing to help her get to the meeting point of the excursion we had booked privately. Not even an offer to use one of their wheelchairs. No-one who did not have a letter from a Doctor stating they needed a wheelchair to get around was allowed to use one of the ships wheelchairs. Side note: We befriended a lovely 84 year old gentleman who could barely walk to the main dining room for dinner and back to his cabin without limping, with the aide of a cane! He was in allot of obvious discomfort with a bad hip and a bad knee! Thank the Good Lord for one of the supervisors in the main dining room, who obtained one for us so he could get to the show on the main stage that night! Otherwise the gentleman would have only seen the hallway, elevator and the piano bar, where we played Trivia, and his cabin the entire 22 days! In my opinion, there are some Heartless people who run Oceania cruise line! I will be submitting a review to Oceania too!

The unwell lady is a Senior Citizen, in her 70s. She was very near to collapsing when she finally tried to get off the tour coach to get something to eat for lunch. She was so weak she could not walk on her own. If she didn't have Lucas on her right & myself on her left her legs would have buckled, sending her to the sidewalk. She needed help from the steps of the coach & help to step up a curb to be able to prop her on a post, the closest thing to sit on. Lucas ran, literally ran, to a nearby shop to buy her a package of Oreo cookies, thinking her blood sugar war too low, since she is diabetic. If her friend & travel Companion & I were not there to support her she would have fallen to the ground. Her vitals were that low!

As soon a Alwin was informed of the situation he RUSHED to her side, contacted his office and had another nice young man come to pick her, her friend and Lucas, up to take her to the local private clinic to be treated. Lucas stayed with them while the Doctors consult about what type of treatment she needed. They initially believed she needed a pace maker to be implanted that very night! Thank goodness she did not need any type of surgery.

Lucas relayed messages to Alwin about her condition throughout the remainder of the day. Alwin stayed in communication with the clinic staff the entire time she was hospitalized, which was 3 to 4 days. She spent Christmas in the clinics hospital.

Alwin is such a kind-hearted man, he took small gifts for both ladies, since they were so far away from their families (in America) for Christmas. WELL ABOVE and BEYOND the call of duty!

The tour itself was very well organized, with a very comfortable coach/bus to get us to the different sites. Our final stop was the airport. I have a hearing impairment, so I have difficulty hearing what most tour guides say. Chilean Journey's sound system worked beautifully! I could hear & understand every word Alwin said. I really appreciate being able to hear about the history of each site we visited. Being able to clearly hear the tour guide talk makes a huge difference in any & all excursions!

Santiago, Chili is a BEAUTIFUL city with so much to see & experience! I hope to return one day for a longer holiday/vacation to be able to see & experience even more of Santiago, and more of Chili itself!

In summary a conscientious tour guide who takes the time out of his life to continue, still to this day, check in on someone who had been ill on one of his tours AND takes them a Christmas gift, PRICELESS! I would take a tour with Alwin's company, Chilean Journey, ANYTIME, knowing that would be WELL looked after & taken care of!

Alwin, You & your lovely team, are the most kind-hearted, caring men, who are truly appreciated! Not only as GREAT informative tour guide group, but also, because you are such a great people with beautiful hearts! JOB WELL DONE!
