I was a customer at the location's…

I was a customer at the location's previous storage owner Opslagman for a long time without ever encountering a problem.

Since Shurgard took over the company, monthly prices increased by 30% meaning I was paying 122 Euros per month to keep my furniture and belongings safe and dry.

After just one year of Shurgard taking over the location, I found all of my belongings covered in rat feces and urine, as well as mold. This meant that I had to throw almost everything I had in this 14m2 unit away, resulting in the loss of multiple thousands of Euros worth of things.

Rare vinyls were chewed through by rats, there was mold on my leather couches penetrating all the way into the filling meaning there was no restoring it to its original condition, my bags full of vintage designer clothes were drenched in rat feces and urine as well as my bed and mattress meaning I had throw everything away and buy new replacement.
All in all this caused multiple thousands euros worth of loss of items, as well as multiple thousands euros worth of having to buy things to replace the things that I lost due to the abhorrent conditions at Shurgard Storage Unit on Donauweg 5.

Of course, I was incredibly frustrated and immediately cancelled my storage unit, for which I sent emails that were ignored for 2 months. After finally getting a hold of customer service, I was reimbursed for the month that I had already been moved out of the storage unit, and that's it. No response to my emails about the state of my things or the financial loss that this experience has caused me, and I expect more.

I am incredibly disappointed in the customer service and quality of Shurgard Storage and I hope they can help me better than they have in the last 2 months.

Totally disorganized

I think I need to share my awful Shurgard Sloterdijk experience.

A few months back I was informed by e-mail that I need to move to a different storage unit within their complex.

I contacted them by telephone to ask how this should be arranged.
I was told by the agent that I need to go to the office on Transformatorweg and they will sort it out.

I left work early in order to reach the office before closing time.
This turned out to be a useless visit since their only information was that they can not help, since this is handled by a special team and they have all left for the day.
They assured me that someone would contact me to sort this out.
This is where I lost my first 2 hours wasted on something Shurgard asked me to do.

When I had not heard anything I contacted Shurgard myself multiple times. Everytime I was told that someone would contact me either the same day or the next day from this special team. I did not hear anything for a couple of days.

After multiple calls I was finally given a new unit number. (How hard can it be.)
With the new unit number I went to the complex only to realise that I was not able to find the new unit.
After approximately 30 minutes I decided to leave but I needed to use the wash room before I left.
To my surprise, out of nowhere, there were suddenly signs indicating the right numbering range.

To my even bigger surprise this unit was already in use by someone else.
This was the second 2 hours I wasted on incorrect information from Shurgard. Not to mention the time I have spent on the phone trying to get a hold of someone.

This time I sent an e-mail with photos of the locked unit and missing signs.

Then I actually got contacted with yet another unit number.
By now I did not expect it to work, but the new unit was actually free and I could move.

You would by now expect the story to end..... but no, Shurgard can still mess it up.

Today I got an e-mail informing me that I have not vacated my unit! The number of the unit was the one I was asked to move to!

I again tried to call Shurgard only to be informed that they can not help because they are from the wrong complex but someone will call during the day!

Well, I am still waiting, again!!

Easy and Smooth process

Everything was extremely smooth and very clear. The renting process was very easy and when I went to access the unit everything was in order. The unit is as described and clean. The entire facility is very well organized and automated.

Very satisfied with the service and the warehouse! The place is easy to access, the app is functional, and the klantenservice is always kind and helpful. They can also communicate very proficiently in English, which is a huge plus!

Booking was easy. Communication not geat.

The communication was not very good. First I wasn't receiving the emails to confirm my identity so I had to speak with multiple people. There was no description of which door to go into to access and when I called to ask they said they would call back but they didn't so I had to call again.

Good experience as things are automated…

Good experience as things are automated and no need to go to the office to open a storage space. If you're from the Netherlands ID verification can be done via your local bank. You can search for deals based on occupancy of the specific location if you're not tied to a specific location. However, I requested for an opening the following day and the automated emails seem to have have been staggered to the following day so I couldn't move my stuff as desired on day 0 of my monthly plan. I had to wait for day 1.
