Friendly staff and transparent communication (also in English)
1. Reservation was easy and straightforward. The online ID check did not work for me, so I did it in person. The staff member was very helpful with that.
2. They were transparent with any questions I had about the special price, etc. They took the time to show me around and explain everything the day my rental began
3. On my longest day there, they were very accommodating and were helpful when I had questions.
4. They spoke excellent english, which took away a lot of the stress on an already stressful day.

Pleasant experience with a hiccup
Overall a pleasant and easy-to-use experience. Nevertheless I would have appreciated to have explicitly that the access code ONLY works to access the floor with the storage unit. This might be a common thing in Germany, but as a foreigner I was not expecting it. Not being able to open the main door and not having explicit info on how exactly should I enter the building (in my case it meant having to go through the parking space) caused me a lot of stress. Something to improve, in my opinion.

Hello, we're sorry to read you've had difficulties accessing the premises with your access code and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. At Shurgard we take security seriously. That's why we give an individual PIN code to each customer. This code gives our customers access to the facility and the floor where their storage unit is situated. No one else can enter this area unless they’ve got a unit there too. We thank you for your understanding.
Shurgard Self Storage increase charges
Shurgard Self Storage dramatically increase charges and have been regularly increasing my rental charge by around 25%: increased from €98 p.c.m. to almost €250 p.c.m.
I was initially informed at reception, when I enquired about increase charges, that increase charges were the normal increase: circa 3% p.a.

Upper price tier, otherwise excellent.
Little bit pricey, but given the central location in Bonn, this was a great choice. The setup was all done online and I wen to the storage unit same day and everything was already set up. The 12m3 storage unit did just about right for a 40m2 apartment. Access was easy and uncomplicated, just one 8 digit pin. Access is good too and trolleys are provided; all in all, sweetl
