Low intro price, then a steep hike — a recurring pattern
I started renting at Shurgard Diemen in January 2026 with a €1 first-month offer and a €65/month rate. Right at the end of the six-month minimum period, I was told the price would jump to €84.50 (a 30% increase). The only reason given was "maintaining our standards and customer service," with no verifiable justification for that specific figure.
What bothers me most is that this is the second time. I rented at another Shurgard location before and experienced exactly the same thing: a low entry price followed quickly by a sharp increase. It's why I switched: only to run into the identical pattern again.
The service hasn't improved to match the price. With moving costs and effort acting as a barrier to leaving, it feels like the low intro rate is mainly bait. Disappointing, and apparently a widely shared experience.

Safe and well organized. Affordable pricing. Access without problems nearly 24/7. Worth recommending.

Everything worked perfect. Starting from access code through the app, and the trolleys to move in the storage facility. Staff and customer care service was helpful; they were kind and patient in answering questions and guiding me through the entire process. I would strongly recommend their service for the peace of mind & the ease of access they provide.

They were very helpful and contactable. A bit of confusion on the Diemen locations. There is a separate building B, which is not clear on the signs of the other location, so we got lost there.

Email said facility was at Treubweg but really was Volmerstraat. Hotline was not helpful and kept telling us to look around, when we instead asked questions they hang up on us. Had to return to reception at Sliep to get told about Volmerstraat. No apologies

The customer service is outstanding! They helped me through all my issues in a calm and professional manner. The storage unit is clean and very secure, I feel comfortable having my belongings there. Highly recommend them to you for your storage needs.

Finding the storage and opening the doors was a challenge at least for me

The Shurgard app does not always work. It was told me that there are no hidden charges, but actually the hidden charges are higher than the price of the box itself (security taxes, lock). The place is not ventilated as it was told me. Many emails were completely ignored. Moreover, I booked a box in 'Diemen Treubweg' but they gave me one in a different location without asking for my consent (Volmerstraat).

easy, everything worked out

Everything was clearly communicated and explained, when I got to the storage building I was able to park and open doors with the app which made the process very quick and easy. The building looks new and clean and everything you need is there! I definitely recommend this!

Everything works very well. All necessary information arrived in time. entrance to facility was working very well. Storage room we are well prepared and clean.
