Clean and convenient

Great place, clean and convenient. You enter the premises with an app on your phone. Security cameras are everywhere, so you feel very safe. There is an attendant in the working hours for those who prefer old school or for first timers, but you can also visit your storage unit after work, like till 9pm which is very convenient. I am very happy with Shurgard.

Good.

Easy access through the app on my phone and it was also very easy to find my storage. Trolleys were available to transport my items. Although the process was okay, they should have staff on site to direct the first rentals.

Overall it's a decent service but...

Overall it's a decent service but...
There was a pungent like smell on the corridor leading to my storage unit.
And my biggest issue was that there's nothing specified in all the emails I've received after/during registration about the fact that to access all the points the provided coded can't be entered manually anymore.
After trying multiple times I was forced to use the phone app to get access only to find out afterwards from one of the managers that they've deactivated the manual option for extra security reasons.

Locked inside the gates outside of…

Locked inside the gates outside of hours, the app isn't working, customer service access code isn't working, security guard is coming in 1/2 hour. A joke!

Shurgard know what they're doing

- extremely efficient booking service via the phone;
- slick and intuitive completion of the process via immediate follow-up emails and online uploads;
- swift swapping out the unit for a larger one on a bank holiday;
- access via an app that works really well.
- all members of staff are courteous (I've interacted with four - two on the phone / two on site), well trained, customer focussed and outright helpful.

Well done guys. Thank you for a first rate experience.

Make life inconvenient rather than convenient

Storage unit not accessible during advertised access hours, even though the access hours on both the website and Shurgard app state it is open until 9pm was unable to access storage during stated times, massive inconvenience when you have organised a whole move of goods according to the stated opening hours. Sent emails, several phone calls, still no one has got back to me to explain why the storage facility cannot be accessed during the stated access hours. No apology, no good will gesture, nothing. Customer Satisfaction is not their priority it seems.

I’m very disappointed with my…

I’m very disappointed with my experience. I canceled my subscription, but I was still charged afterward. I contacted support not once, but twice, and was promised a follow-up — but no one ever got back to me. I made every effort to resolve this properly, but it feels like they simply ignored me. This is incredibly frustrating and unfair. Be cautious when dealing with this service — canceling doesn’t guarantee you won’t be charged again, and you might not get any help if something goes wrong.

They lock you in!

Google says the unit closes at 9pm. I tried to leave at 8.10pm it turns out the unit locks you in. I called security and they said I had to wait for a whole hour. This is completely unacceptable.
Unit holders be very aware of your closing time so you do not have to go through the harrowing experience I have.

Complete disaster

Complete disaster. Don't give you proper instructions, couldn't access my unit. Left the country and tried to cancel, nobody could help me. Emailed them to tell them, leaving the key behind, no contact at all.

Now suddenly I've got a debt collector chasing me. Well, good luck with that considering I no longer live in the UK and will not likely never return.
