Cancelled but still charged? Apparently no refund offered as part of there refund policy? Pretty harsh, signed up for a 7 day trial, wasn't for me at the moment, now it will never be.

I was a loyal Rank Ranger customer for many years. Then, without real choice, I was forced to switch to Similarweb—a tool with far fewer capabilities. For example, instead of unlimited keyword history retention, I now only get 6 months of data unless I pay significantly more.

I’ve always had the feeling Similarweb bought Rank Ranger mainly for the customer base. Many Rank Ranger clients were perfectly happy and had no need for Similarweb. Now they are being pushed into switching by pulling the plug on Rank Ranger completely. There’s a reason we chose Rank Ranger back then and not Similarweb—management made a huge mistake here.

It’s like forcing an Adidas fan to suddenly become a Nike fan: the products are different, the fit is different, and the customer made their choice for a reason.

Communication during this process was terrible: the first “notice” I saw was just a pop-up with a one-hour webinar, no clear guidance. They refused to help migrate my own data stored in their system—and even if I did migrate it, I’d still be stuck with only 6 months of history unless I paid extra.

Switching to their tool, migrating all historical data, and recreating every client report would have cost my agency around $10,000 in time alone. Most companies won’t even understand the massive impact of this change—and that’s without even talking about all the valuable historical data that will now be lost.

I have since moved my company and all my clients to another tool. The arrogance from Similarweb is staggering—one of their sales reps even emailed me saying he “doesn’t like being threatened” after I simply said I would write a bad review about how they handled the migration.

Never again will I use Similarweb for myself or my clients. This is not how you treat long-term, loyal customers.

All the website traffic data was incorrect!
It only reflected one-hundredth of the actual numbers shown in Google Analytics.

I was charged USD 99 by Similarweb on August 1, 2025, even though I have NEVER registered an account with them or used any of their services. I only use one email address and I even tried registering today to confirm – there is no account linked to my email! This is clearly an unauthorized transaction. I am a student with very limited financial resources, and this unexpected charge has caused me serious hardship. I contacted Similarweb support immediately on August 2, 2025, with full details and proof (bank statement screenshot), but I have received NO response after several days. Here my ticket ID is #1489989. This situation is unacceptable. I expect an immediate investigation, confirmation that no account exists under my details, and a full refund of USD 99. Please contact me immediately
I urge Similarweb to take responsibility, respond promptly, and resolve this fraudulent charge. Very disappointed. Be careful – unauthorized charges and no customer support response!

I never signed up for a similarweb account. It seems they recently purchased a company that I do have an account with. It seems as if, they pulled the account information from that company including CC info, and setup a free trial, that when the free period was over would automatically convert to a paid subscription.

I only learned of this because of emails from them. When I went to the site to figure out what was going on I couldn't access the account they said I signed up for. I had to use Google Auth to get into the account - Which had never been previously used for SimilarWeb.

I was able to cancel the subscription. But, we'll see if they try to charge me. From what I have read here they have a pretty bad reputation for unauthorized service charges.

Lead you through all sorts of data capture to over $100 / month?! and then the site locks you into the sign-up page. Horrible interface / seems sneaky. Good thing I put a fake phone number in!

I canceled my 7-day trial on the same day I signed up, but I was still charged $199 unexpectedly. I never intended to continue the subscription, and I simply can’t afford this amount. It’s extremely stressful. I’ve submitted a support request (Ticket ID: #1489194) and my invoice number is INV00368197, but I haven’t received any reply yet. Please refund me and cancel the subscription immediately.

They charged me twice $423+ then $80+ within a scope of 2 days for a service I didn't sign up for! I emailed them to refund me for that $423+, they replied after 2 days that the refund will come within 7 to 14 days! But they immediately charged me again with that $80+ without my consent and authorization! What is going on?? I want a refund for both amount ASAP.

Using SimilarWeb helped me gain insights into data about both my potential customers as well as competition. While in many cases it is used for "inbound" purposes, i use it for outbound. As our product depends on customer website traffic, this information is useful and handy within similarweb. Similarly, it helps me shape my ICP and getting additional ad related information from the industry.

The tool gives a more detailed view of the competitive environment, compared to other tools on the market. Many useful features to the different team in the agency.

A sales rep told me their product integrates with our CRM and provides company info like size, revenue, and so on. Based on that, I paid 129 for a one-month trial. I was actually charged 150 due to hidden taxes in the fine print.

Once inside, I found that the features I signed up for are locked behind higher-tier plans. To even see pricing, I have to book a meeting with their sales team. Total bait-and-switch.

I've been using Similarweb for many years now and it's useful to inform our business decisions and strategy as it gives us many great competitive insights and intelligence that we won't not have otherwise.

Using similarweb for more then 5 years now. Its essential tool for me to make decisions about marketing, portfolio management etc. especially on smaller market like CEE, where is lack of information about partners. But the most important is knowledge of the customer before and during meeting with them. Knowledge is power !

[REFUNDED] I was charged $199 immediately for just 1 month use. After I canceled my 7-day trial on the first day of visiting the website, the free usage for 7 days was all gone, leaving me with a blank page. I thought I subscribed again and the 7-day trial would be refreshed, but NO, $199 was charged immediately. Now I don't even dare to cancel because I don't know if I can use it within my 1-month charged. I submitted many forms with ticket ID 1488225, 1488219, 1488218, but no response. I cannot afford this much cost. REFUND and CANCEL my subscription asap. This is too pricey

Charged $240 for a subscription I never knowingly signed up for. No trial notification, no purchase confirmation email, nothing. Haven't even used the product. This feels like a scam - taking money without proper consent or communication

I signed up for a free trial in English. Every part of the process—from onboarding to the dashboard—was in English. They then billed me on day 6 - before the trial was over. But the only notification warning me of the impending charge? Sent entirely in French. I don’t speak French. I never selected French. And I never had a fair chance to cancel.

This isn’t just lazy—it’s predatory.

They knew exactly what they were doing. Burying a key communication in another language is a clever loophole to get one more subscription over the line. But clever doesn’t make it ethical. Or legal.

No refund. No accountability. Just silence. Still waiting on a response!

If this is how Similarweb operates—relying on obfuscation and dark patterns—I’d think twice before trusting them with your data, your business, or your wallet.

Cannot recommend it enough -- every sales org should have this tool.
