Not a client

Not a client, but working with one on an important transaction and wire transfer. After deeming a valid transfer fraud with no notification for 2 days, that all accounts had been frozen, this bank put them on hold for hours. Causing another 24hr delay, excess, unnecessary work and to top it off, once Simpii said it was fixed, the domestic transfer left the account, but is now taking 2+ days to arrive, at 5 in total and going into a weekend. This is absurd and unprofessional.

Horrible company

I tried signing up but couldn't get through the verification process. I sent my license and passport with a selfie, but still denied. What more could you possibly want?! What a waste of time, and now my credit score got dinged from this terrible company. Avoid them!

Terrible company

Terrible company. Stay Away!!!! This is now 365 days that we've been trying to get my mothers money out of her account and we finally wrote cheques to herself and were able to withdraw. Today we wanted to close the account as there is only $3.20 in the account and they will not as they cant verify my mother but of course no where to go to see someone and they need to verify but without a place to go they cant verify so they wont close the account without my elderly mother calling on her own even though I'm her POA.

Cash Pickup in Thailand dont do it

Made a mistake and forgot to put in first name of pickup person. Was myself. Form was accepted and sent with garbage in the first name.
Went to pickup and bank would not release because of no ID with 1st name. All other information was okay. Could not correct.
Now I'm waiting for 3 weeks to try and get my cash back. Didn't get anything.

I live in Ontario

I live in Ontario, Canada and never came across a bank with so many issues, all at once. The positives, the website has a great layout, UI, and does offer competitive promotions every now and then. The negatives, almost everything else.

There are far too many E-transfer limit restrictions. $3000k daily, 10,000k weekly, and 30,000k monthly. You cannot bypass this, nor is there much in the way of alternatives if you wish to transfer more. (For example, no customer representative will do this for you, manually - unlike most other banks I've used).

Which brings me to bank-to-bank transfer. In order to set up a bridge between Simplii and any other financial institution, you need to send a mail request, first. Tangerine allows this request directly from the APP and everything can be done on your own.

Lastly, and perhaps more annoyingly, logging into the APP requires the website send a code to your device EVERY time, after you've entered your card number and password. It doesn't matter if you had logged out five minutes ago, it will require it, again. I've reached out to an agent that stated there's nothing that can be done about this.

Please use any other bank. I'm in the midst of moving all of my money to a different financial institution and staying away from Simplii for as long as possible, but it's taking awhile considering I've had a substantial amount in there.

Extremely poor service and definite language barrier compounded the difficulties. No requested responses for information. Third party contractor can never answer concerns just follow the script! Never go back !

I've been with simply financial for 5…

I've been with simply financial for 5 months now. I have a regular biweekly pay that gets deposited. I deposit it every second Friday. When I signed my contract at the beginning of opening this account. I understood my pay check would be held for 3 to 5 business days. The contract also stated I would have access to 100 right away. In this time I've had my account open. I've had to wait 2 time sending 2 different etransfers for 3 days for the transfers to clear. When I called to ask why. It was the computer system. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will make a note on the account so it doesn't happen again. We'll it did. Then now I can't even access the 100 that my contract stated I would always have access to. Today I was on the phone with reps from there fine establishments. 5 different reps . 4 hrs in total. Only to be told. No one can give me any real reason as to why this has happened. So now father's day weekend and I have no access to a single dollar of "MY" money. So stay far far far away from these guys. U will get told nothing. They hold no accountability. Just excuses..

I had a worst experience with this bank…

I had a worst experience with this bank and due to which i am now in a trouble, As first of for all international students who are coming to canada for their studies, i would suggest you to never open a account with simplii even though your Education agent insist on doing so as with me they gave a wrong information of me to the trans union and due to which i was not able to acquire a credit card and inorder to rectify this issue i wasted my 2 year going after tran union to have a credit file and once i did got a credit file my credit score was just 534 and i am now in a situation to not get a credit card from any bank as due to less credit score and simplii being the one responsible for this situation also did not issue me a credit card and said they can also give me a credit card once i get a PR, So the kind of scam they did first to get my gic amount to there account was not at all acceptable and the kind of service they provided was also not satisfactory

Simply financial is good for young people only…

Simply financial is good for young people and people that don't really have any bills.
I've been with them for 10 plus years and I started a new company that unfortunately pays with a check.
They hold my check every pay for a week. I understand the first few checks but after being with the company for 8 months and having money in the bank to cover the check you deposit they still hold it. I wouldn't advise banking with simply unless you're a teenager

I started an account 2 and half months ago they waited to send me a card till 2 days ago then when I transferred money to my account they refused to let me have it I spent almost a full 24 hrs fighting with them to release my money to me and they refuse so they go ahead a close my account while I still have my funds there and refuse to let me have it they are theives do not delay with these people or cibc because they are no different they stole my money and for no reason at all close my account again with money in it crooked business practices they have till tomorrow to fix it or I get a hold of a lawyer. Oh and when I ask about the terms and conditions which I agreed to them stealing my money there refuse to acknowledge any of it I haven't seen anything in the terms and conditions that I agreed to the bank withholding my money without any reason

Always freaking maintenance

Every weekend around 6 I log on to do banking…same song and dance every time…we are down for scheduled maintenance …by 6 am this should be up and running…today is extra special tho they are temp down for un specified amount of time…id also like to talk to CS but they now have the worst phone service…if you are calling to talk to someone you now have to have your card number or it hangs up on you….what if i was calling about a stolen card? Obviously I wouldn’t have my card number Makes big fat zero sense…scrolling for new banks as we speak will be cancelling everything

Nice people but ….

While the people who work the phones are always very nice - the fact is it takes at least a month to resolve any issues because it’s always “you’ll hear from someone in 4-7 days which becomes 7-10 business days” which becomes never. Beyond frustrating to work with - actually appalling customer service.

FRAUD ALERT

Back in Jan 03, 2025 my 16 year old son's account got compromised and scammers stolen all his money in his chequing account close to $1400 and then proceeded to deposit four fraud fake cheques from Toronto and we are in Alberta all at once totalling $2900.00. The scammers took about a one week to wipe his bank account clean and put a huge negitive amount now owing without a red flag fraud alert from happening. Simplii bank did not even do the 5 to 7 business days procedure to clear the new cheques at all and the scammers withdrew all of that money as well. As a result all Simplii Representatives from the fraud, collections and CIBC client management departments said that my son owes the negitive $1500.00 from the fraud cheques plus interest. We have filed a RCMP report in February which takes time as Simplii Financial is not cooperating neither with the police investigation but they keep on harassing my son by emails and voicemail even after both parents have said to not speak with him without a parent present. Now as a result someone from from Simplii has said that my son has confessed to a family or friend in Toronto that gave a woman stranger permission to fraudulently scam all of his money and put a negitive $1500 owing plus interest onto his bank account, damn bs and upsetting that nothing is being resolved and all Simplii departments are giving us the runaround and stalling in all of the complaint stages. Can someone help us please, I am his father and lost my job from this as they have manipulated both of us to hurt each other and our whole family too. PLEASE STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM THIS SO CALLED ONLINE FINANCIAL BANK OWNED BY CIBC BANK AS THEY CLEARLY DO NOT HAVE A PROPER INVESTIGATION PREVENTABLE FRAUD DEPARTMENT.
