I logged into the app and someone…

I logged into the app and someone else's personal information was filled in instead of mine. Including their private email, address, the companies for their bills. I called Simplii and they tried to bribe me with $100 not to say anything. Major security breach or incompetence within the Simplii Financial

Missing money

I have a US Savings Account with Simplii Financial. I logged on to my account page and noticed the US Savings Account is listed as deactivated and to call an 888 number. The money in the account is hidden, I can't access it, I can't even access the statement for Oct. I emailed and call Simplii. I was told the account would be re actived, that was 4 business days ago. Still no access or idea where the money is. Seems like a very thing strange to be able to do to a customers money.

they bounced my reoccurring vehicle…

they bounced my reoccurring vehicle payment despite the funds being in my account , I spoke with one of there customer service agents who agreed they were wrong and promised to issue a credit for the nsf fees that would be wrongly collected .

accept simplii financial never issues the credit.

this is the second time we have had the same issue , with the same lies being told about a credit being issued in both scenarios

NOT a trustworthy financial institution

Don't waste your time with this bank

Don't waste your time with this bank
I set up the account on October 17 and it's now Nov 1. Spoke with 3 agents and finally a manager. They all have different ways and excuses. Very unprofessional. This bank will waste your time. They hold up my 3000 for these days and benefitted from it, I'm not talking about just my money, but look at the number of clients fell into this scheme. So terrible I will escalate this issue with appropriate authority

This is a DIGITAL BANK...?

Opened a savings account 1 week ago to take advantage of the 6.25% promo. Couldn't even access online banking as I had to get a physical card in the mail first to even access my account (took 5 business days). Why would a digital bank require customers to have a physical card? I can't even use this card because it's for a chequing account whereas I only have a savings account. Absolute clown show.

Now that I have access to my account, I can't even transfer in funds yet because I had to MAIL THEM a void cheque. Expecting this to take another week.

To be the DIGITAL arm of a major bank and require mail-in documents is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that banks like Simplii are smaller than their parent companies and are therefore less staffed/funded & processes may take longer. This is true for banks like Tangerine and Wealthsimple as well. But never have I ever had to MAIL IN documents to perform something as simple as bank to bank transfers. I'm not sure what's going on in the back end that they don't have automated processes for something this simple. Did not have this problem with Tangerine nor Wealthsimple.

Also, they should not have their promotions start immediately, before the customer can even fund their account. The promo should begin when the customer is first able to deposit funds. Honestly if the lost interest was significant, I would take them to small claims or start a class action. But, as it is, that's not worth my (or the justice system's) time. And they know this so they continue to skimp out on their promos.

One the interest period is up I'm UP AND OUT OF HERE lol.

Horrible

Horrible, highly recommend AVOIDING. Every time I have tried to get anything done with Simplii (setting up my online banking account, adding a bank for bank to bank transfer) it was delayed because actions would take several business days, and once the time is up and you call to follow up you realize that no progress was made. It took me almost a month just to set up my account and have another bank added so I could transfer funds in, when this would typically take about a week (or less) at another bank. Constant delays and follow ups are required, their systems are NOT user friendly (e.g. adding a bank to bank transfer requires you mailing in a form, and you can only complete it by email if you call in to request). Without taking advantage of their high interest promotion, I would avoid at all costs as it's been the biggest headache of a financial institution I've ever worked with.

Simplii Liars

When signing up for their services back in July, I signed up for an offer for "Earn $400". The stipulations of the offer were that of "Add an eligible direct deposit of at least $100 a month for 3 straight months." similar to the one that is currently being offered. Fom what I believe, I saw "Direct Deposit" and thought that any form of Direct Deposit would work so I set up our CCB (Canada Child Benefit) with it because it is a government-funded benefit. While there's a link that says "What's a direct deposit?", I didn't click on it because I know what a direct deposit it, I've been working for years. It's now December, I've had multiple deposits from the CCB enter our account and have not received the offer. I contacted their office and apparently the Canada Child Benefit "doesn't count" because it's based on the fact that it's "for the child"? Nowhere on the website does it say that in the fine print, and even if it did, no one would see that based on the home page where you sign up for the offer. So Simplii Financial is denying me the offer based on a rule that the site doesn't tell you about all on the grounds that they gave a vague "Government Benefit" rule they added.

Simplii and estate accounts

If you have an elderly relative who banks with Simplii and you anticipate serving as an estate executor one day, you may want to encourage them to get away from Simplii while there is still time, in my opinion. The estate administration must go through CIBC anyway, so your relative might as well bank there. Simplii is anything but simple to deal with. Expect misinformation, delayed communications, duplicate effort, and a lot of finger pointing back and forth with CIBC. "CIBC didn't send us this... you have to call Simplii for that..." and so on.
There is no grace period on balances owed, no waiting for probate, and they will send unpaid balances to collections immediately... something that other financial institutions that I am dealing with have shown much more tact, sympathy and discretion with.

Is 0 an option

Is 0 an option. After reading other reviews and going through (currently going through) holds and freezes, fraud and identity theft. These guys are a joke. 2 accounts and both get frozen when they hold a certified cheque. How does that make sense. Moved money without my consent. Stole from me. And I sit on hold for over an hour just to be hung up on. Pull your head out of your ass. Hey CIBC drop these morons.

I'm leaving after 25 years

I have been banking with this bank since 2000. I have never had any real complaints until I tried to set up an RESP for my child. That was in 2015 and I figured it was just a one-off and I shouldn't expect a bank that's "free" to be able to provide all of the different kinds of products a major bank could. Today was my last straw with this bank - I called last week because I was purchasing a car privately and my withdrawal limit was prohibiting me from getting the cash I needed. I was told I could do a wire transfer directly to the seller's bank account and that it would be 2 business days. Well, here I sit 2 business days later and nothing has happened. They can't even give me a receipt, or confirmation that the wire is "in progress" nor can they tell me when it will go through. I've now lost the confidence of the seller and will have to forfeit my deposit on the car. Very disappointing and incredibly frustrating to have no way to escalate or a physical location to launch a complaint. After almost 25 years at this bank, I'll be leaving for one of the big 5.

Don't waste your time with Simplii

Tried to take advantage of their 'special interest rate offer' on savings account. Filled out all the paperwork for an applications and received an email that they needed a bit more time to work on it (name of the email stated "New Client_Application Delay Email Template.doc" ). After that nothing so I tried to call them to follow up just to be told that they can't help me because I wasn't an existing client. What? I was trying to become a client but apparently they don't want any of those... Basically, a completely client-unfriendly process and a complete waste of time. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! Go to RBC or Tangerine instead. Simplii obviously doesn't have their act together. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Simpli ! Very Disappointed

Very Disappointed!
They advertised 5,3/4 interest rates for us accounts. So I started one up. Exchange rate became the issue so I waited for a favourable rate to transfer it back. There app tells you the conversion to Canadian. When I transferred it back to Canadian there was $1500 missing from there reported value.Ripped off! No disclosure for transfer fees? Or there made up after the fact exchange rate. It was a lie. Not only that, not a stitch of promised interest deposited.
When I called they said that’s the way it works. Never again Simpli !

Terrible banking experience

Two weeks ago my card would not work when I was attempting to get gas for my truck. Contacted Simplii who instructed me to go to the nearest CIBC and change the pin, which I did. Went back to a different gas station to encounter the same problem. Contacted Simplii again, who further instructed me to go back to CIBC again to reset my pin. Reluctantly, I did again. Went back to another gas station and low and behold the card still would not work. Contacted Simplii who advised they would courier me a replacement card which did arrive fairly quickly. After approximately two weeks, I needed to go online to check my account, however my old card was still active and I could not access my account with the new card. Contacted Simplii who informed me they had not cancelled the old card. They have corrected and cancelled the old card, however have instructed me yet again to go to the CIBC to change my pin number again.
Terrible banking. Don't bother unless you are comfortable with morons holding onto your money.
Not me....I'm outta here.
Simplii garbage.
Nov 3/24
This morning I attempted to get gas this morning and low and behold, my card would not work.
Called the bank for the manager to tell me that there is a known issue and the only thing they can do is replace the card....yet again. I've had 4 cards replaced within a month.
Do yourselves a favour and bank with another company. I will be cancelling mine.
Nov 8/24
Attempted to purchase some groceries at costco today to yet again experience the same problem. Card does not work. There is plenty of funds in the account so that is not the issue. Called simplii again for them to tell me their only resolution is to send me another card. When asked what happens when that card doesn't work, the only resolution will be to just send another card. Since they are sending me a new card I will be without the ability to use my existing card all weekend.
What a wonderful banking experience.
I will be closing the account and all of my business with this company. Absolute garbage.
