I saw one of my favorite artists wearing a piece onstage that I fell in love with. Immediately, I searched for it online and found ONE remaining piece on your site at the best price. I didn't realize when I ordered it that it was shipping to the U.S. all the way from Barcelona! That said, the shipping was so fast, it was in my hands 5 days after I saw it onstage. i was really happy that i was able to get myself one of the most limited models, i had been waiting to be released in 2024. Using the app was easy, fast and the delivery was on time.
£81.42 of extra duties and tax is a painful sum to pay on top of a €210 purchase plus €12 delivery or €222/£184.84 total.
This is particularly disappointing because I am receiving treatment for acute chronic osteomyelitis where there is a good chance that I could lose my leg. And this may sound stupid but saving up to buy trainers that I never got to wear whilst I could still walk gives me a sense of motivation and something to work and look forward to once I recover. Therefore an unforeseen charge of £81.42 in duties and taxes has a lot of meaning. And not to mention that I did not consent for the charge to be paid on my behalf. All I received was a text with a link from FedEx of the charge. Reading on via the link in the text SVD marked me down as the liable party, meaning that they knew of the charge.
Had I been aware of the charge I would’ve purchased something within my means or not place the order at all.
I guess I was fooled into a false sense of trust, because roughly four months ago I placed my first order with SVD. It gave me some much needed optimism as it surprisingly arrived on time in perfect condition. It was heavily discounted in comparison to other retailers and it had no hidden duties and taxes as some reviews had warned of. I was happy that I had taken the gamble on SVD yet now I am praying that additional duties and taxes are not the norm, as I do appreciate some of the finds on SVD.
Furthermore, I understand the cost of my purchase/trainers includes Spanish VAT which is not deducted at any point when the item crosses into the UK. Is there any way that as a non-Spanish citizen I could claim this back so that I only pay taxes once rather than twice.
Also, I wish someone at SVD could look into my order history and explain why I did not have any duties and taxes with my first order, but now I have been forced to pay duties and taxes yet it is with the same courier (FedEx).
I am also aware SVD has no obligation to simplify things but can SVD just clarify;
As a UK customer should I expect or not expect to receive duty and tax charges on delivery after purchase?
Lastly, I tried to download my invoice both through the app and via the website through signing into my account, and no invoice was downloaded upon clicking download button. I tried using a different device and still no result. I can’t dispute FedEx’s extortionate fees for duties and taxes paid on my behalf if I don’t have a copy/print of the original invoice.
In conclusion I have given a rating of 1 star mainly due to the fact that I found it difficult to obtain an invoice to dispute the extra duty and tax charges. Also because of inconsistencies in charges during delivery where I am now unsure if I will or will not be charged on top of delivery charges to receive items in the UK.

International Customers Beware!
On 01/11/0214 I placed an order for export for outside the EU.
The invoice issued was deliberately incomplete in not showing whether the Spanish VAT was paid or not when in fact it was!
I contacted the Customer Service immediately, asking the invoice to be corrected to reflect fully what was paid but to no avail - they refused by misrepresenting my request.
The next day I filled a formal complaint, but no luck either. In fact it got worse as I received a verbose response full of empty clichés, like how they were "committed to transparency and International regulations", but nothing specific about my issue.
The worst came on the next day when I received an email by the Customer Service falsely claiming that I had visited their website and closed my request by selecting "yes, close my request".... Utterly brazenly incredible!
As a result, because I have not the correct invoice from Sivasdescalzo to prove that I had paid the Spanish VAT, now I will have to pay a second time the UK VAT, a whooping 41% in total of consumer tax!!!
Had Sivasdescalzo issued a correct invoice I could have avoided that since there is an EU - UK treaty for avoidance of double taxation.
By the way, Sivasdescalzo do not provide paper invoice - or any other documentation for that matter - to accompany an international shipment for export as is customary and a requirement by international regulations hence my order arrived completely "free" of any documentation....
One can only download the invoice from his/her account - for how long it is not clear.
Suffice to mention that some institutions accept only original documents and not user prints of the resp. documents files.
One can draw his/her own conclusion how proper is such accounting practice, and what "service" one gets if the simple demand for an export invoice is met with such a vehement refusal.

I had ordered some items from this store more than a week ago(shipping to the Netherlands). I still haven't received any status on my order. I only had recieved the confirmation email on the day I ordered, but further no information on my order. It had guaranteed a shipping period of 2-4 days. I tried to email the given email adress in the confirmation mail. No reply at all! When I try to check my order in the website, it shows that I haven't placed any orders yet. I have no clue wether or not I am receiving these items. Please respond to this message @sivadescalzo!
