And especially the communication regarding the fuel: that was simply misleading. The officer suggested not choosing the 'return full' option. There was trouble in Dublin, farmers and the transport sector had blocked fuel supply companies, and the officer told me that it might be difficult to get fuel and that Sixt therefore suggested having the tank filled there. It was not mentioned that by doing so, I was signing up for an expensive 'Prepaid Fuel' at 69.56 EUR. Knowing that I had previously filled the tank, which was 1/8 full, with 27 liters for 53 EUR, and that I returned the car 3/8 full and had to pay 69.56 EUR for it, you can understand why one feels cheated.

Best car rental
I was extremely lucky to rent a car through SIXT. I left my work phone in the car rental after returning it and getting to my gate at the airport. After calling them, they instantly responded and managed to get my phone to me in 15 minutes, meaning I got my phone and didn't miss my flight. Thank you so much to the guys at Dublin airport who managed to help me and with such speed and care. Thank you! Great service overall and the extra touch made me extremely satisfied

Scammers and crooks
1 star is too much. These guys are absolute scam artists. I booked online and paid with a credit card. They didn't release the car when we went to pick it up as the driver was not the one with the credit card. Tried to extort more money by adding the owner of the credit card as an extra driver. The manager was extremely rude and unhelpful. We did not get the booked car to rent and they still have not refunded my money. Luckily we walked straight into Budget who were brilliant and did not try any of the same scams so our holiday was not ruined. Would never use this firm again! And still trying to figure out how to get my money back from these crooks..
No HONEST transparency
I was informed on picking up the hire car ( originally through Expedia) at Dublin airport that the M50 toll was included in my price. Returned car, no issues and then received a charge for 9+ euros for the toll fee.
On contacting them, they insist I’m wrong and do not refund me.
Secondly, the car was returned on a Saturday, but they didn’t release the deposit charge on my credit card(1600euros) until the Wednesday.
The following Saturday, one week later, the charge is still held on my card.
On contacting them, I’m told it can take from 3-15 days for it to be cleared.
Absolutely ridiculous that this should happen, and not be informed of it anytime throughout the booking and return period.
Lengthy return of holding deposit
After initially receiving good service from the staff at Dublin airport, after 11 days, I am still awaiting my €1500 deposit to be released from my credit card. Standard responses from their customer services, who are clearly unable to offer any assistance and now no replies to my request. AVOID!

Top class customer service from start to finish received from Patrick and the team at Sixt Dublin South in Rochestown Avenue. Quality advice, options review, appropriate coverage, alongside efficient check-in and check out processes undertaken. Highly recommended.

Worst experiance
I reserved a car, payed money and I was 4 mintues late to pick up the car because of Dublin traffic (I was in a taxi) and the guy refused to give me the car. They have no number available to call ( I wanted to inform) Rude attitude and he did not even want to listen to me. I even begged. And the response was indifference and 'I dont care' attitude. Never again with this company

We had a wonderful experience with SIXT car hire at Dublin Airport in December. Jadelle gave us a complimentary upgrade when she seen the amount of luggage we had. She was so efficient, friendly and explained everything in great detail to us. It made the long trip home all the worth while with how streamlined our pickup experience was and of course Jadelles fabulous friendly manner.

The only bad experience we had in Ireland
We rent the car for 3 days. Nothing happens, a smooth ride all the way. A few days after we hand it back they claim that one of the tyres is broken beyond repair and had to be completely replaced. They send a photo of the "damage" which does not show anything at all. Yet they charge us 400€ for this. A complete ripoff. I've showed their image to two car mechanics and neither of them could spot the supposed "damage". Stay safe, rent somewhere else.
Terrible experience with Sixt Dublin – hidden rules, hidden fees and missing refund
My experience with Sixt Dublin was extremely disappointing and stressful. I strongly advise against renting from them.
1) Driving licence requirement not clearly stated
At the counter, I was told that a minimum of 4 years of driving licence was required. This was not clearly visible during the booking process. The employee said it was “written in small print”, which is unacceptable.
This caused a serious risk of not being able to pick up the car at all, and we were forced to make a new reservation under another person’s name at the counter.
2) Undisclosed €40 In-Terminal Drop Off fee
We originally planned to return the car early in the morning, but due to a change of plans we decided to return it the evening before.
We went to the desk to ask how to return the car earlier and were told we could leave it in the garage near the terminal instead of the more distant one where we picked it up.
At no point were we informed that this would result in an extra €40 charge. This fee only appeared later, which I consider misleading.
3) €100 deposit never refunded
At pickup, €100 were taken from my account as a deposit, with the clear statement that they would be refunded at the end of the rental (minus tolls for the M50 motorway).
However:
The M50 tolls were charged separately
The €100 were never refunded
Customer service told me:
“You will not see a refund of 100 EUR because it was never debited.”
This is false, as my bank has confirmed that no refund was ever processed.
To this day, I am still missing my money.
Overall, this rental involved hidden conditions, poor transparency, unexpected charges and unresolved billing issues.
The risk of not getting the car and the inability to recover the deposit make this experience completely unacceptable.
I will never rent from Sixt Dublin again.
RIP OFF
Booked a car rental with Sixt through Booking.com and given a total price, when i arrived in Dublin to collect the car the insurance was insufficient and I had to pay a further £70 for two days insurance rip off will never use Sixt again.

Staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The van we rented was in very good condition and served our purpose perfectly. Exceptional service all around.
