My son was moving to his new home

My son was moving to his new home. I Had to help my son and hire a panel van, Sixt had best quote at £ 48 a day plus £20 extra top up insurance. We loaded the van and left for Surbiton from Newbury park, using M25 via Dartford crossing. On return journey I was rushing to return the van on time, but the traffic was awful, it took me three hour, and was late, so my wife called Sixt, and explain that we'll be late to return the van that evening, the young man at Sixt said not worry and return the vehicle in morning at 8 am, and I was relieved. I must thanks to Sixt and their Nice Staff at Ilford branch being so understanding.

Terrible company

Terrible company - they withdrew a large sum of money without any contact or communication as to why or for what they were taking the money for. The money was taken from my credit card - I only discovered one week later....called the company...they said they had sent an email but it had bounced - thereafter it wasn't there issue. Disreputable.

Great Facebook messenger support service.

So I hired a car for a week in October and in November I had a charge of £12 on my credit card. Contacted Sixt via Facebook chat. Explained the situation and they said "we will get back to you".
Two days later, they sent me a pictures from Malta where I was driving in restricted parts of the city.
I was very pleased with the service, response and explanation. Great customer service!

Watch out for rip off extras /poor …

Watch out for rip off extras /poor service - without any advance warning they charged my card €100 (which had to be pre-authorised on picking up the vehicle) for extra cleaning in Paphos (Cyprus) due to there being a small amount of sand when we removed the kids car seats on returning the vehicle (we brushed most of it off, and certainly nothing left that a quick light vacuum couldn't remove).

Its a small amount of money but out of frustration and not wanting the local manager to get away with it, I am exploring legal options to recover..

Dirty Tricks.

Dirty tricks as with most car rental firms. Advertise a BMW 5 series then ring you the evening before rental date saying they only have a Volvo.
Of course it's not their fault, rubbish it's not, probably never had the BMW
They know full well it's to late to arrange another rental. Don't even offer discount for messing you around.

aviod scammers

after long haul flight australia to dublin arrive to pickup prepaid car rental from sixt airport desk what could be more simple show voucher check drivers licence authorize deposit grab your keys and off you go ????
not this company first up booking was automatic rav 4wd they said how about a manual no i refused well next scam you can,t hire a car because card is debit not credit try to explain my card was visa which is optional for savings credit or debit fell on deaf ears next scam if we pay them extra $233.91 they would allow my card to be used to me this is a scam might i suggest a type of blackmail.asked for manager told he was not at airport asked if we could ring the manager they refused to ring there manager walked over to my wife away from counter and like magic the manager appears from behind the back wall to his horror he knows i have spotted him.so after a lengthy discussion with walter the manager had agreed to cancel car hire and advises us to claim refund from car brokers autoeurope. our holiday is long finished but the stress and battle for refund still goes on.

Bad Customer service

Booked Vehicle using website and received email confirmation. Took payment from my credit card also.
Next day received email to say reservation has been cancelled but no reason given.
Phoned up to ask reason and was passed onto 3 different departments and eventually told to email security as cancellation was due to insurance risk (never been refused insurance in my life).
No reply received from security and no sign of refund as yet.
Booked car with Budget who have been excellent in the past.
VERY VERY POOR customer service. Avoid if you can.

Beware refuelling charges, vehicle not provided with full tank

Took a 1-day rental for a Ford Transit van. Covered 44 miles during rental (detailed on Sixt's own receipt). As you'd expect, needle didn't move on fuel gauge. Returned vehicle without refuelling, accepting a litre or two would be charged. Was charged for 12 litres at over £3 per litre (inc. VAT).

Following below complaint, was refunded half of refuelling charge which reduced charge from ludicrously to astonishingly too high. But law of diminishing returns meant it wasn't worth pursuing further. However, feel it prudent to warn others about the activities of this company.

"I do not contest that refuelling should have been provided by SIXT. I also do not contest that the charge will be way higher than normal diesel prices because other costs are involved for your company. What I have contested though is the fact that you supposedly supplied me with a vehicle with a full fuel tank, I covered only 44 miles during the rental as clearly shown on the invoice SIXT provided me, yet you still needed to put in over 12 litres of fuel. As I mentioned previously, what you are saying is that the vehicle does 8.57mpg. Even a Hummer does better than that (search Wikipedia for Hummer fuel efficiency). I'm sure you are familiar with what a Hummer is, if not, it is infamous for having appalling fuel economy.

Now I'm sure your Ford transit van has better fuel economy than that, therefore the only conclusion I can reach is that the fuel tank was not full at the start of the rental."

Good luck if you use them, I won't again.

SF.

Petrol scam at Sixt Zurich Airport - avoid if you can!

I've returned a fully tanked car, which is confirmed by the "vehicle return protocol". 4 days later Sixt have the guts to sent me an invoice for refuelling the vehicle!

Customer service in Zurich told me this is "standard procedure" and that the return protocol does not matter!

Also they made rude comments about my accent and didn't return calls despite promising to call me back after "investigating" the case.

Not the customer service you would expect from a multinational brand!

Great customer service !!!

I've used many car rental services in the USA and outside of the country. For the first time, my fiancée's family suggested Sixt and I have to say this has been the best rental place that I have encounter with their customer service; I have not received my car yet. Their customer service is exceptional and very accommodating. Wish we had the same customer service in the states. At the beginning, it was a grinding process after a couple of weeks; I discovered the automatic car required additional confirmation from the location i was picking my car from. i panic and I called the rental location in Europe (Airport in Wroclaw) where the called was picked up by the manager Mr.Bartlomiej at Wrolcaw Airport in Poland And to my surprise he was exceptional - walked me through the process with the proper items needed to rent the car (i needed international license which I didn't know..i got that done asap here in NY ). Mr.Bartlomiej explained in perfect english everything and i was pleasantly surprised. He is a class act of customer service. The second time i called the service was even better. He ensured me that when i arrive my automatic car will be ready. My concerns were alleviated. Mr.Bartlomiej superiors should be proud of such great customer service at this location.
After this experience i can relax and get ready for my trip knowing that I'm in good hands with Sixt and Mr.Bartlomiej. I will continue to recommend your rental to others who plan to travel to Europe.
I will be a loyal customer for life. and if anyone will be flying to airport in Wroclaw ...i can assure you that you will be amazed by the customer service provided by Mr.Bartlomiej.!!! I hope I will be able to thank him in person this upcoming Monday.
Hemery Ferreira from New York City
PS.
I'm looking to review directly the location but unfortunately I can't find it. If someone can please share this review for the location in Wroclaw i would be greatly appreciated

It did not do what it said on the Tin

Edinburgh Airport - 11th April 2014

Over the internet I had, what I believed, hired a Citroen DS3 to attend a prestigious event at Glenaegles golf club. As I am aware that car hire companies terms and conditions allow them to substitute "similar vehicles" I actually telephoned Sixt offices in Edinburgh and spoke to a female employee. She re-affirmed the company terms but said that she would make a note on file and make every effort to supply the pictured vehicle.

Obviously not enough effort was made because when I arrived at the hire desk I was very disappointed to learn that a Vauxhall Corsa was being made available to me. The employee there seemed only to be interested in processing the paper work (I had rather foolishly already pre-paid), trying to sell me additional insurance and getting me out of the door when I declined the extra insurance.

When I metioned the earlier telephone conversation with the female Sixt rep he was very ambivalnt and stated that she worked in another office and that that was not his problem or his concern. He offerred (at a cost) an "upgrade to a Vauxhall Astra" but I expalined to him that that was not an "upgrade" in my book.

If I had not have pre-paid (so be warned) I would have gone to one of the other hire car companies.

At the end of the day the result of all this was:-
Customer Service - Nil: Customer Satisfcation - Nil
A boring, pointless result.

Dishonesty

I rented a car (Polo VW) with the company Sixt in Madrid at Barajas Airport for a week with delivery in Paris. The rent was prepaid with my debit card and I leave a credit card for extras like GPS and insurance coverage. Back in my country I realize thar they charged again the total rental, ignoring my previous payment. This fraud is costing me over 750 euros. It is a garbage company. I recommend never renting with them and less via internet.

FRAUD

We rented for 24 hours a SDMR sedan to drive from Frankfurt International to Dusseldorf International. When we returned the car, the gas tank was three-fourths full. We took a photo in your garage that shows the gas gauge at 3/4 full. The picture is attached. As you can see in the photo, it is taken in the garage of the airport and shows the amount of gasoline in the tank. We took the photo because your employee refused to give us a receipt. When we came home, I checked my credit card statement and found out that I was charged an extra ninety euros for gas. First of all, a full tank of gas for such a small car does not cost ninety euros. Secondly, as we stated before the tank was ¾ full when we dropped it off.

Besides that, we received a damage claim (9050245125), which says that there is ten centimeter long scratch on the front bumper. As I mentioned before, your employee checked the car before we returned and did not say a word about the damage. I believe that the lack of gas and scratch could only have been caused by one of your employees driving the vehicle after we dropped it off.

BEWARE!!!!

This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any company, and definitely the worst I've had with a car rental.
I rent VW Golf in Germany for 24 hours. I used 1/4 tank of gas.
When i came back to states, their send me a bill twice as much. Instead of $154. Bill was $257. it is 12 gallon tank. Their said tank was empty.
Then I got email from them saying, car have a damage on it. I am professional driver.
I left car no damage.
I did ask their employee for receipt, their said to busy to do so.
I know why NOW!
Their employee using customer cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called company itself. Bad customer service , no help and their don't want to listen anybody.
