No moral compass-disgusting

20 years ago I had the misfortune to be working at Skerritt Consultants in Hove. Eventually, I, like many before and since, decided to leave. At the point of leaving Skerritt Consultants owed me some £8,000 in commissions due. Richard Skerrit declined to pay the commission at that time stating that the business generating that commission income might 'fall of the books'. I subsequently moved abroad and recently, having found the correspondence to Skerritts reminded them of the outstanding commission, not yet paid.
After 4 weeks, there was no reply and I then discovered that Skerritt has sold the company to Sovereign Capital Partners for an alleged seven figure sum. I contacted the Sales Director and latterly the CEO Paul Feeney. Neither of them acknowledge the debt, hiding behind the '6 year rule' namely that a claim needs to be made within this time and also they no longer hold the relevant files.
Now, I accept that 20 years is a long time to be chasing a late payment but I do wonder what happened to my money. Where did it go, who had it?
After 20 years I could be claiming much more if I had decided to index link the money outstanding, but no, I'll settle for the original £8,000, thank you very much.
You might be an existing client of Skerritt Consultants, or you might be thinking of investing with them, but really, should you? This is clearly a company with no moral compass pocketing income generated by an ex team member for their own benefit.
Not good is it?
