I have been separated from my company…

I have been separated from my company for almost 2 months. They keep changing my termination date to later and later. My last day was March 18th and they are still refusing my distribution. Today is May 1st

1% fee for ETF’s and funds I can buy without a fee at all. Very few funds to select from. If you track your retirement accounts on Mint or Monarch it forces a text verification every time it attempts to log in. I have a Vanguard and a Schwab account with investments those accounts don’t do this verification every time you want to see fund balance. Overall Slavic401k has nothing of value to add, in fact it is only taking away from your account.

In my view and based no my experience…

In my view and based on my experience this is a fraudulent company. Stay away as far as possible from this company at all costs.
The employees seem to work from home and can not answer any questions and simply hang up. Horrible experience and horrible company.
They seem to have a lot of hidden fees and you will lose all or big part of your money. This is not a typical investment 401K firm. It is designed to take our money. Their site is not functional and a lot of feature on their site is not even active. You are WARNED!

Companies choose them because they are the cheap option. Unfortunately, we the consumers/employees get what they pay for.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

Slavic is ABSOLUTELY horrible!!! Apparently my prior employer's HR company didn't notify Slavic that I was no longer employed with the company so I was only given the option of taking a withdrawal based on a "Disability" rather than "Termination" so I could initiate a rollover. I informed the HR company that Slavic was missing this information and they got Slavic the information the SAME day, yet it's still almost 2 weeks later and Slavic STILL hasn't updated their system to give me a "Termination" option. It's just absurd that it takes this long to make a simple update just to even give me the option to make a withdrawal. I'm truly dreading the hoops I'm going to have to go through when it's actually TIME to make a withdrawal. I've dealt with NUMEROUS other 401k companies before and they were literally able to update their system within 24 hours. What this company is doing holding their participants’ money hostage isn’t legal. There are numerous reviews out there about them and how horrible they are. Believe them all! Do not use this company at all costs!!!!

18 years and only lost money.

18 years and only lost money with Slavik401k fully diversified. Used to try and take around 100 buckos from me a month by doing +100 gains and -200 losses back and forth back and forth on my 300 dollar a check contribution. Left 20k there for a decade before rolling it into a new 401k. 20k when I left that company was 20k 10 years later. Not one new dime in gains. At least John Slavik couldn't steal any more without being noticed during that period, and at least even though their website tries to bug out I was able to get my money away from them eventually and roll it into a VERY NICE REGULAR 401k.

Avoid at all costs, because if you put your money into Slavic 401K, you'll pay dearly.

I'm glad my former employer only put a tiny amount of my income into this joke of a fund because it's only losing money. If this were something I'd be serious about as an investment, I might be in trouble. And the joke is, I can't even take the little amount of money that's technically mine, because they have processing fees that would take the value negative. Honestly, this is an insult to any working person, who wants to accrue wealth over time. They actually take your money, and you earn nothing. Avoid at all costs, because if you put your money into Slavic 401K, you'll pay dearly.

Refuses to even respond to hardship distributions.

TLDR - emails asking for guidance were ingored, hung up on when calling, no help whatsoever.

Full Review - Attempted to get a partial hardship distribution but my emails asking for guidance on documentation were ignored and my request was closed without any acknowledgement of my emails. I called to straighten this out and the representative I spoke with could offer no explanation and told me I needed to submit a new request, which I did. I asked if I could speak to someone higher up to lodge a complaint against the initial employee who ignored my emails and the person told me they would do so...and then promptly hung up on. I've opened a BBB complaint for this situation as well and will update my review if and when this is actually fixed. Not holding my breath though - seek other 401k options, use this company as a last resort only.

Holding Funds Hostage - Read Reviews!

Read the other reviews. EXACT same issue. Tried to rollover Pre-Tax and ROTH to myself and my new employer and they taxed my distribution, giving me Pre-Tax dollars and a ding when my form said to use Roth dollars. I had to do a stop and re-issue with them and have yet to receive new, correct checks 2 months later. When I reply to their protected messages I get emails back asking to resend because they can't open it... It's They're Protected Messaging System!?!?! When I call in the calls keep "dropping" while on the line with a representative and the text-messaging authentication isn't "working" so they have to ask me security questions instead. Every possible thing to do to make this more difficult, they're doing. They are flirting with ERISA violations, and they know it. I've already started communications with a 401K mismanagement attorney. The Slavic representatives I've spoken to on the phone have been kind and tried to help (other than the last two calls that magically keep dropping), but there's someone up the chain calling the shots and holding my funds hostage.

Less than one star.

Less than one star.
I have been in the position (company CFO) where I had to make the decision about what 401k company to use - stay away from SLAVIC401k. They do not care about your employees.
I retired from my employer and wanted to move my Slavic401k - pretax as a distribution to me and ROTH to my investment company, Fidelity. I called and spoke to a Slavic representative (which took several calls as they do not return calls) and completed their form as instructed. Their form is not intuitive, so beware.
They transferred both the pretax and ROTH to my bank account. This was a SLAVIC error. I contacted them and told them of the error and actually spoke to someone who seemed to understand the issue and seemingly wanted to help. I told him that I would transfer the money back, just to give me wire instructions but that I did not want to pay the wire fees. He stated that I would not have to do this, but that they would take care of the error. The next day I received an email (not enough courage to call) that "... we are unable to accept the funds after they have been disbursed." This was THEIR error.
I would not hire this company, and if you are already with them, be very aware that they do not care about your employees and how they handle their money.
I have also written a review on the BBB, as this affects my long-term investment in my retirement fund.
Horrible customer service, horrible follow-through, horrible money managment.

Holding My Funds Hostage

They do not allow my Fidelity account to do a rollover of my 401k. I have tried emailing and they only take phone calls. Their phone line has a multiple hour wait and I've not been able to speak to anybody there. My funds are currently still held hostage and I worry I'll never see them again.

John Slavic, I'm happy to take down this review the second you release my funds and stop preventing me from transferring them to another service.
