Guide, driver and the truck
The trip was an out-of-this-world experience. You literally felt as if you were on another planet.
The Sleipnir truck was an experience in itself. This remarkable custom-built machine navigated the ice as smoothly as a golf cart on a green. The weather was amazing: clear blue skies, no wind, and endless visibility, which is somewhat unusual for Iceland.
Our driver did a marvelous job handling this enormous machine. Unfortunately, I do not know his name, but please give him my best regards for a job well done.
Last but not least, our guide, Kimberley, did a wonderful job explaining the dynamics of the glacier environment while also providing entertainment and ensuring our safety. I especially loved her final myth about how Sleipnir came to be.
The story is also well known in Denmark and is portrayed in the Danish comic book series Valhalla, in the album Muren (The Wall in English).
So, a big thank you to the entire Sleipnir team for making this trip possible and for giving me memories that I will cherish for many years to come.
