They left me locked out of my home in the bitter cold because my data got compromised even though we pay for their service

This is an absolutely awful service/app! In fact I would classify it as positively dangerous and I will never live somewhere that has it ever again. I live in an apartment complex that utilizes SmartRent and our lock hadn’t been installed but 2 days when my code suddenly failed when I left my apartment for a few minutes to walk my dog. I tried the code that had worked for two days 5 times and it repeatedly failed. But worse than that, the app failed me too and would not send me the email to reset my password because my data had been compromised somehow. So I was left locked out of my own home for hours in the freezing cold with absolutely no recourse whatsoever. I called smartrent themselves when the app failed because our maintenance dept said I had to take it up with them, and bearing in mind this was at 6.30 pm and the office was now closed, smartrent simply said my name did not exist in their system so they could not continue with the call. And they left me locked out and refused to help me. Instead of thinking something might have gone wrong with this person’s data so let’s see what we can do to help them they cut me off and refused to talk to me. So I was left locked out in the bitter cold with my dog without my purse or wallet, and my meds were locked inside the apt. This system clearly has bugs in it and isn’t safe if it can leave you locked out like that without offering any level of assistance to get you back in. What if someone steps out for one minute and there’s a baby inside the home? What if I could have died without my meds? Some people need meds to survive, eg anti rejection meds, heart meds, etc, and because their system failed and somehow compromised my data they refused to help me and I could not retrieve the meds I needed. The apt complex also refused to help me saying it wasn’t their job (turns out it was) and the police wouldn’t help either because I wasn’t carrying a utility bill to prove I lived there. My husband or neighbors vouching for me wasn’t enough. So be aware this system can leave you locked out at any point and they do not feel they have any level of obligation to get you back in. In some cases that is simply dangerous. I’m now too scared to leave my apt in case it happens again and am utterly traumatized by the experience. I was left shaking for over 12 hours and I’m still very distressed. I was told I would just have to wait until the morning when the office reopened. We are stuck with it for now but I will never trust this system and will never live in another place that has it. We pay for this system too, but SmartRent refused to help me even though they damaged or lost my data!

I want to warn everyone about this…

I want to warn everyone about this company, as they appear to be running a scam. I requested a cancellation and was assured I would receive a full refund. They canceled my reservation, but since then, they have not responded to my emails or messages, and I have not received my refund. I have tried searching for them online, but it seems like no one from the company can be found. I strongly advise against booking with them.
