third malfunctioning toaster
Now on my third smeg toaster, all with the same(known) fault. Smeg customer service is non existent. Have had reply to 5 email over a month, each promising to reply promptly within 48 hrs.
Avoid this company. Bad expensive products with no customer service.
Support so bad, it's AMAZING.
My dishwasher has a broken lower spray arm. I've replaced it at my own expense. Fast forward not even 1 year, and it split down the middle again, just like last time. DW isn't usable. Not for a day or two. Not for a week or two. It's been OVER a month since I called and asked for some help on replacing this part that didn't last. I finally got a hold of someone... Richard Rudniki. He promised he'd send a replacement. No email confirmation, no delivery attempt... not one reply after THREE attempts to see what the status is.
It's like they are running this support team out of a basement with half-hearted employees who have no organization skills or processes to follow.
Voicemails never get answered. Emails are a black hole. Good luck getting someone on the phone.
SMEG - wake up. Support IS part of the product. Fix this, please.
1.7L kettle outstanding warranty replacement experience
Update: yesterday I received a warranty replacement kettle from Smeg and I am updating this review to share my satisfaction with the way they stood by their quality name and made right by us. I’m grateful to the customer loyalty team at Smeg Canada and would recommend Smeg products due to their outstanding warranty service. Thank you Smeg.
**Last year I purchased the 1.7L kettle in white hoping for a showy countertop appliance that is aesthetic and functional as regular tea drinkers and hosts of kitchen parties. For a year we have had the Smeg kettle proudly displayed and received many compliments. However the powder coating has formed a bubble which grew and has now split. I tried to carefully slip some Gorilla glue in under the flake before it fell off and succeeded for a few uses. But the steam leak is obviously somewhere else because it’s just inflating around the glued down flake again. I’ve contacted Smeg Canada asking for some advice and I’m hoping to hear back. If I do I will certainly update this review with either the praise deserved or further words of discouragement. I’ve emailed you at info at smegcanada dot com and eagerly await a response. With thanks.
The worse Customer service ever
The worse Customer service ever. I bought the induction cook top and it got broken in 3 weeks.3 burners stopped work .I did try to call customer service for weeks and they did answer ones and told me to submit all info via emale and i did it. No answer or respond for weeks and nobody picks the phone again. Finally after two month service representative by the name Richard Rudnicki did assure me that he will help me to replace the cook top since it under manufacturer warranty and after that i cant reach him on the phone again. Its been 3 month i don't have cook top.
Run away from Smeg produkts because when you will have problems there is no help.
Total Letdown from Smeg - Premium Price Bad Quality
Bought a Smeg 4 slices toaster thinking I was paying for top-notch quality and durability. Guess what? It’s real crap, the heating element broke after 4 years and fixing it cost more than much as getting a new one. Reached out to Smeg, but they basically said, "Too bad, can't help. The warranty is one year". Thought Smeg was better than this.
For something that costs as much as this toaster does, I expected way more from a “premium” brand.
Stay away!
Pathetic Smeg after sales support
Pathetic Smeg after sales support. We bought a bean to cup coffee machine which makes amazing coffees. However, I have had issues with it getting stuck in the descale process. 3 weeks ago it got stuck in the descale loop for over 5 days. There was no number to call, just the online support. Several emails exchanged and I was told that they would get DHL to collect the parcel last week but they are yet to collect. I got an email last week to say I would get a replacement which could take time. Despite being under warranty, I am still left without a coffee machine and no customer support to contact. The email responses take 2-3 working days and are very poor. Disappointed that one pays top dollars and gets such terrible support.

My wife and I really appreciate the aesthetics of Smeg products. We are always happy to purchase them, and we have never experienced any problems with their quality.
Christmas dinner is cancelled.
Christmas dinner is cancelled.
I bought a Smeg oven with induction hob earlier in the year. The oven broke under warranty within six months and took three visits from a engineer to repair as the first engineer ordered the wrong part. Leaving us only the hob working for several weeks. We also had to call them to explain that after this error, they did need to prioritize fixing it.
Six weeks after finally getting it repaired, the same fault has occured Smeg don't seem to bothered about getting me a replacement this side of Christmas. I was fobbed of with an excuse about logistics partners, as if it was a subcontractors fault I've been sold a lemon. I was also told an engineer would call me with 24 hours to confirm the oven is broken. This did not happen.
Not sure how I'm supposed to cook Christmas dinner with just the hob. I thought Smeg were supposed to be a premium brand. I won't be buying from them again.
Pathetic (Canadian) customer service
Love my Smeg milk frother - so far no issues. But my toaster dial stuck and I couldn’t change the toasting level. Contacted Smeg Canada to be told ‘sorry it’s one month past it’s 12 month warranty, nothing we can do for you’. Now my tea kettle is developing a blister under the paint every time it heats up. I’ve googled this issue- found out it’s common. AND found out that Smeg UK and Smeg AU have Incredible customer support. Seems Smeg Canada is the only one that sucks. Considering the price of these products and the lack of ANY customer service I wouldn’t recommend them.
Don't buy Smeg
Don't buy Smeg - bought a Kettle, paint started chipping 13 months, 1 month after warranty (even though their website says 24 month warranty, except for small appliances, lol) no service what so ever.

My three year old kettle has peeling paint around rim - a problem I've read multiple times on other sites caused by the steam. They say they can't do anything as it's outside its 1 year warranty. I just want to help others think twice before paying the pricy SMEG products. $200+ It's not worth it.

Purchased a Smeg toaster and the middle heating element died a week later. They don’t respond to email and don’t answer their phones. Going to return it to Best Buy and won’t buy their products again. Terrible customer support. In Canada.
SMEG
Hello,
I wanted to let you know that I am not happy with my SMEG Appliances. In the past year I have contacted SMEG several times in regards to my Espresso Machine and my Toaster, and nothing has been resolved.
I descale my Espresso Machine on a regular basis with Dergol and the yellow light stays on, no matter what. All the explanations I have gotten from SMEG have not helped. Now the red paint on the machine is chipping off as well. The machine isn’t even 4 years old yet and for the last year I have had nothing but trouble. Nobody seems to care at SMEG as long as the money rolls in.
Our Toaster also is not working properly, it toasts bread only on one side, even though the elements seem to be working.
I am very disappointed with their appliances and their service. Highly overrated and expensive for what you get. Will not recommend them or get anymore of their appliances.

Zero customer support (but pretty)
Zero customer support (but pretty).
My wife loves designey things. She bought a fridge, water kettle, blender, and toaster, and we got a Smeg induction hob with our house.
The refrigerator, kettle, and blender, in fairness, have soldiered on for several years, even though the blender leaks like crazy. Trying to get customer support and repairs for the other two devices has been an exercise in frustration. We live in Spain, and have attempted to do so both in Spain and Italy - no joy whatsoever.
We ended up replacing the hob with a vastly cheaper Zanussi alternative which has been far more reliable and robust.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Problem with my toaster. They didn’t even ask what the problem was … just rote answer that they don’t have parts (for what??) and your on your own. No repair place recommendation. The cheapest appliances have better customer support …
Beware of the pricy SMEG products.
I have multiple SMEG appliance (kettle, mixer). The product is aesthetically good but unfortunately it does not last long. Both product stop to work in less than 2 years. It's unfortunate that when issue is brought up to the company, they would ALWAYS say they can't do anything because it's beyond the 1 year warranty. I just want to help others and thing twice before paying the pricy SMEG products. It's not worth it.
We had a SMEG kettle and toaster both…
We had a SMEG kettle and toaster both only lasted two years . We contacted SMEG about any warrant and we’re told they only cover for one year. We are very disappointed in customer support and the quality for the over priced products. We have had a lot of other manufacturers that cost a lot less last many years and have giving them away and are still working.
Terrible product terrible service
My kettle lid broke not even 2 years after date of purchase and when I contacted the company they said there was nothing they could do unless I had proof of having more smeg appliances. Then they would be able to assist.
If I could give a negative star
If I could give a negative star, I would. We have multiple smeg toasters, coffee makers and milk frother machines. I have been emailing customer service daily for months - to no avail. We are on our 4th frother, as they all seem to break just after one year. I tried calling customer service, but they are just an outsourced service that cannot supply any service. They suggested I email smeg - but they have been totally unresponsive. BUYER BEWARE. Smeg does not have any customer service.
Don’t buy smeg
In 2017 I bought a complete set of white goods freezer, fridge freezer, dishwasher.washing machine, cooker within 2years 3 out of 5 items needed repairs then after almost 3 years the cooker needed a repair smeg did it as a goodwill gesture then earlier this year it blew up smeg didnt want to know I got the ombudsman involved because surely it should have lasted longer they found in smeg favour today the dishwasher has packed up and low and behold smeg don’t want to know so if I need it repaired I have to at my expense my previous cheaper items lasted years don’t buy this overpriced second rate goods
