Refund issue
I find the site very misleading. I wanted to sign up for a monthly plan to help with my thesis, but due to a misunderstanding of the website i purchased a yearly plan. This put me, as a student with low income, at a financial hardship. This month will be a huge struggle for me. I tried to contact them via the support chat in my account and in several emails too. I would’ve loved to use it for 1 month but I don’t need nor can i afford to pay for a whole year at once. I hope i can get a response and a refund, I haven’t even touched the site since because i would really need the money back.

I had subscribed for free days and immediately unsubscribed, but that was not possible!!
I contacted them immediately after purchasing, completing and submitting the online form.
In which they stated that cancellation was not possible, even though I had already submitted the cancellation via the online form within minutes.
My bank is now contesting a case, and it's already been 2 months!

Billing Problems - Refund Refused
I wanted to subscribe to this platform's services for one month ($9) , but due to unclear information on their website, I was accidentally charged an annual fee ($108). Immediately after the payment was processed, I contacted their customer support, where I explained my situation and requested a refund.
Their customer support provided no solution and continues to insist on keeping my money despite the fact that I do not use their services and do not intend to use them. I must state that such behavior does not align with good business practices and I consider it unprofessional.
I recommend maximum caution when dealing with this platform.

Double Charged – Refusal to Refund
I subscribed to Smodin intending to purchase the monthly plan, but due to lack of clarity on their platform, I was mistakenly charged for both the monthly and the annual plan.
I immediately canceled the annual plan, but the platform refused to issue a refund for the amount of USD 180 (approx. BRL 1,036.80). This charge was completely unfair, as it was clearly an error in their subscription process.
I contacted them directly, but their support provided no solution and insisted on keeping the money, despite the service not being used.
This is unacceptable behavior for a company offering online subscriptions. I strongly advise others to be very careful before entering payment details on Smodin.

While trying out the Smodin AI
It seems that I am not the only consumer this has happened to.
While using Smodin AI, a promotion to upgrade to a yearly subscription suddenly appeared on my screen without warning. I was about to click something else and accidentally clicked “Upgrade.” To my surprise, my account was immediately upgraded without any type of confirmation or verification step. I never intended to purchase a yearly subscription.
I immediately contacted support, but they refused to issue a refund, stating there was nothing they could do. This is unacceptable. The company’s design appears intentionally deceptive—placing a pop-up at the exact moment of interaction and processing payment without any confirmation page, disclosures, or consent.
I am reporting this to my bank as a fraudulent transaction and will also report Smodin to the appropriate authorities for fraudulent business practices. This company’s conduct raises serious consumer protection concerns.

Refunds can take up to 14 business days to appear depending on your bank. No further charges will be made.
If you don’t see both credits after that timeframe, please reply to your support thread or email support@smodin.io and we’ll provide the payment trace your bank can use.
On the product side: our upgrade flow is designed to require deliberate confirmation and clear pricing. Even so, your report that an upgrade occurred while you were attempting a different action is taken seriously. We’ve escalated the event logs from your session to our engineering team and are reviewing additional safeguards (extra confirm step, dismiss delay on promos and clearer “undo” cues) so accidental upgrades can’t happen.
To be clear, we do not use deceptive design. If our interface contributed to confusion here, that’s on us to fix. We appreciate you raising this and will continue improving the upgrade experience to prevent confusion.

I would give actually rate it a -2 or less, I reached for them to resolve a payment purchase that was made by mistake, and they refused a refund even if I’m not using there services. I worked with so many platforms before, they were nice with the support and each time the refund was successful. As I student they made the situation even more complicated and frustrating. This is clearly taking advantage of students. I would not recommend anyone to work with them. Plus they actually stopped replying to my emails after insisting on finding a common ground.

I contacted support multiple times asking for a refund, even a partial one, but they refused despite my situation.
