I scanned the QR code in my hotel room to use "roomservice food". After authorising £0.01p by SMOOTH-HUB, I was charged a further £39.99 by this SCAM!
I contacted my bank, blocked any further transactions from SMOOTH-HUB and they are in the process of recovering the total of £40.00 from not-so-SMOOTH-HUB, so I live in hope that they are successful :)
Update on 02/Oct/25: My bank (Lloyds) did recover the £40.00 - big thanks to them!

Scanned a qr code and got a deliberate mistake direct to a streaming site that charges £40 a month. Absolutely rubbish content so it just makes it money via accident and people registering when they are trying to park their cars etc
Beware!! It's a scam
I was in Blackpool and wanted to sign up for the BPL transport app. I scanned the QR code and was directed to a site. The tram was due any minute and received a prompt, so I clicked to accept and was presented with a 0.1p from GPAY (which I thought was from Blackpool transport to verify my debit card). I had a bad feeling and when I got back to the hotel I Googled Smoothhub.com and found the Trust Pilot reviews. I contacted my bank, deleted my debit card. Beware and be careful!
SCAMMERS
SCAMMERS! Had £0.01 taken out my account followed by x2 £39.99 before realising and getting it sorted out with my bank. Get them closed down!!
Just checked my bank account online
Just checked my bank account online, only to see £39.99 taken from my account by someone I'd never heard of.
I checked the website of the company instigating the withdrawal, and again, I'd never heard of them. I then checked Trust Pilot, only to find loads of others have had the same experience.
I phoned my bank and cancelled my card.
Beware, they are a scam outfit that obviously uses subterfuge to scam people.
I'm sure, there are still many people, paying them without realising it.
Scammers
Scammers, tried to take £39.99 from credit card,, their fraud team blocked it. I called credit card company who confirmed this firm is a well known scammer.

Disgusting
Told I had subscribed but I have never heard of them. Only realised been scammed when saw charge. On prepaid card. Not happy at all. Should be stopped as theft. Terrible people out there nowadays..
Not one Star
Not one Star. Minus 10 stars. All reviews on here are true. This is a scam. Mine happened when I tried to link my OneGov account to Companies House. It is not at all obvious what is happening when the pop up appears. Have had to cancel my Debit Card with all the inconvenience that entails. AVOID
Scam
Scammed by this company whilst trying to in download a parking app. I did not scan the QR code, & went to the web address. First took 1p so thought this was the council web site, did not continue to park as could not work the web site. Two days later my bank blocked a payment to smooth hub.com for £39.00. Be careful!!
Dont google RingGo for parking
I didn't scan a QR code but googled ringGo to pay for parking and while distracted clicked on a 'sign-up', got verified by them taking 1p from my online account.
Immediately felt as if something wasn't right, called my bank and told them I'd set myself up to be scammed. They put a block on the requesting account. I'm 1p down but so much wiser.
Scammers
I was scammed by this company was trying to download Ringo parking app was asked to enter my card details to verify payment next thing I'm having a call from the fraud team at my bank as £39.95 had been taken from Smooth-hub for a subscription. Looking at other reviews seems like a common practice from these
Beware of QR codes! They may not be legitimate.
I scanned a QR code to park and 2 days later, I noticed a pending payment to smooth-hub.com for .01p. I googled to check on this site and was horrified to discover it a scam.
I immediately called my bank and had my card cancelled. I am now awaiting my new card to be delivered.
I have since noticed others with similar experience.
SCAM
SCAM - AVOID.
I did not sign up for this "service" - it somehow scammed me when I was trying to subscribe to a newspaper. It now threatens to take £39.99 from my card in 3 days time. To cancel I have to tick a box accepting its terms and conditions, which I shall not do as I never signed up to them and do not agree to them.
SCAM WARNING.
I'd like to thank previous reviewers, this company is not to be trusted don't give them your details. They take £0.01,they say to verify your card details, then try to charge you £39.99, without authorisation.
People beware. Fortunately I alerted my bank to block all payments to this scam.
Conned like others
I have been conned like many others to pay 0.01p, then a payment of £39.99 has been taken, but I don't know what for and I didn't authorise it. The initial 0.01p was to SKY, so maybe they have been hacked. Cancelled card, but very cross that it is that easy to get money uninvited.

They sneakily tried to get me set up as a customer having to pay lots of money. Absolutely don't touch this company (otherwise known as common scammers) with a bargepole
Like others on here
Like others on here, I was conned into providing card details for 1 pence and since then smooth hub have taken 2 lots of 39.99 for God knows what. In my case I bought a cheap door camera online and the instructions were supposed to be available via a barcode scanner. Part way through the process I realised that the barcode provided related to something entirely different but by then I had provided card details. Card now cancelled .
