I am totally outraged. My daughter submitted a claim with Smooth Commercial Law, and they have since gone into administration. The council is more responsive than this lot!

I would like to thank David Smith for his help and support in the eviction process on a property we own. David gave excellent legal advice and ensured all stages of the process took place without delay. He was always available and easy to talk to. Our tenant handed back keys to the property today as ordered by the court. My wife and I are overjoyed and thankful. We would use Smooth Commercial Law again and recommend them to others

Tenant eviction

The process of eviction from start to finish went very smoothly and I was kept up to date the whole time. I couldn’t have wished for a smoother process.

Absolute waste of time

Absolute waste of my time I was recommended these people when I needed them the most I have nothing but bad things to say about my claim. I done everything I was told to do on my end of things regarding sending videos, pictures and plenty of evidence regarding the damp and mould I was living within with my 2 year old daughter with severe asthma and respiratory issues. I was told I was in for a good chance of getting the compensation I deserved after I lost the majority of my furniture in my flat with the council taking full responsibility and understanding knowing that there was general big issues in the flat that had to be fixed. The council agreed to move me and my daughter into a safer property but after losing all my furniture it meant I had to buy new furniture, smooth commercial law gave me a good understanding saying I will get the compensation and to get the ball rolling with the solicitor and surveyor etc. the surveyor came out and took pictures and all evidence to hand back to the solicitors but that’s when things went silent I didn’t hear nothing back for months. Ive been told now that they are waiting on my landlord and could be taken to court which could also take up to 18-24 months for a response or any kind or money only if I won the court case. None of it makes sense as Ive spoken to my landlord and they are taking full responsibility of the damage to the property, thankfully I’m now in a new healthier property but no compensation, the council was happy enough to give me compensation but because I have a case open with smooth commercial law they couldn’t give me the money until the case was closed. When I questioned smooth commercial law about cancelling my claim I was then told I would have to pay up to thousands of pounds for god knows what reason to be honest all I wanted was help with someone but turned out to be the longest most stupid thing I have done I don’t recommend at all

I signed a Conditional Fee Agreement…

I signed a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA) with Smooth Commercial Law on 11/11/2024 in relation to a housing disrepair claim. Since that date, there has been no meaningful progress on my case. Communication has been sparse and uninformative, and I only recently received an email — clearly sent in bulk — suggesting my case may no longer proceed. I know others in a similar position, which further confirms this was not a personalised update but part of a mass communication due to internal issues.

It has now come to light that Smooth Commercial Law has entered administration. Since then, the process has been entirely stalled, and I’ve received no clear guidance on the next steps. I am a vulnerable tenant and feel completely neglected and unsupported during what has already been a very difficult time.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to think twice before engaging this firm for housing disrepair matters. I am deeply disappointed with how my case has been handled from start to finish.

My housing disrepair case being handled…

My housing disrepair case being handled by Smooth Commercial Law has to be one of the longest and most mentally draining experiences I have ever had. I signed my paperwork in December 2024 and it took until April 2025 to even have a surveyor attend my property. In which time, some of the repairs were done by the council (cover up jobs), it is because of this that my case wasn't going to be as good as first anticipated. Following this, Smooth then proceeded to tell me that I will not be entitled to any compensation even though full medical reports and evidence of neglect had been provided. Me and my children have now been stuck in this very same position of nothing being done to actually target the root cause of the issues in my home, and the threat of my homes condition still dawns on us today. Absolutely terrible service, takes months just to get a single response.

I like the help I got at the start of the claim but now I have not heard of yous or of the disrepair unit about my repairs as the have not been done I have just been left alone I phone them and go to the office but just get told because it with the disrepair unit they can't do any think and the ask the solicitors about I have phone you and email you many time and all you say is you look into it so I think you are letting me down badly over this and I don't know why

A very happy customer

Yet another one recommending David Smith at Smooth Law for his tenacity with the FSCS chasing down some compensation for a misplaced pension. David kept going long after I'd all but given up, perseverance won out in the end and my compensation was paid out in full. Very reasonable rates too. A very happy customer.

Don't use this solicitors

They make out they're being helpful when actually they're not, I'm temporarily on benefits and disabled, this is why I used them, they got compensation, but said I had a little bit compensation then said housing took it for rent arrears I didn't have, as it comes out my bank every month, then to top it off the solicitors said I owe them £377 they are wrong , I'm in the middle of seeking advice and don't no one trust them.

THANKS DAVID

In common with others I am more than happy to recommend Smooth and David Smith in particular. He stuck with my claim against Dolphin and my SIPP provider over a good number of years till arriving at a successful conclusion. Very much appreciated!

David Smith of Smooth Law - wins against significant odds!

Smooth Law was used as the main legal advisor to assist clients in seeking redress from lost investment funds as a result of the German Property Group (GPG)/Dolphin Trust scandal. David Smith was my Smooth representative throughout a 4.5-year process. His professionalism, knowledge and patience in pursuing justice for his clients and me were second to none. This was a very complicated case, with many hurdles and challenges. David and the Smooth team calmly navigated us through it to success. I am immensely grateful to David for his tenacity and guidance. This means that I have a little more chance of retiring less impoverished than expected. A huge thanks to you, David, well done! I would highly recommend Smooth to anyone seeking professional legal advice.
