Complicated tariffs, no help

Booking desks are often closed. The information about the different rates on the self-service machines is unclear. I made a mistake and selected a fare for which I was ineligible, but which I could only understand from the printed ticket. SNCF response to my request for a correction: you should have verified before paying, no refund is possible once the ticket is issued.

Late arrival at Gare de Nord

On Tuesday 1/7/25 I was travelling on TGV INOUI 6258, scheduled to arrive at Paris 1815 hrs, the train arrived approx 4 1/2 hrs late, I missed my Eurostar connection, forcing me to stay in a hotel and travel the next day, incurring the following costs in euros, hotel 148.64, taxi 24.63, Eurostar reservation 44.00, total 217.27 euros.
I have written registered letters twice to SNCF customer complaints Arras and multiple emails.

To date i've heard nothing back. Be advised i am an advocate of the French railways and always received excellent service.

SNCF do not make it easy for non French speaking customers to communicate, I will also add that most of the train announcements were in French, I had to rely on my fellow French travellers who also spoke English.

I need this matter to be addressed.

Poor travel standards.

Poor travel standards.
If you book 1st Class carriage, take Your chances on filthy and disgusting seating or cramped and uncomfortable standards.
Wouldn't use ever again as we had no choice during recent transit across France. Very poor signage and communication if you are not local is very hard to interpolate!

Worst train service personnel I have…

Worst train service personnel I have experienced in Europe, North America and Asia.

After having traveled the world with work for many years, I return to Paris for holidays (have not been to Paris since the early 2000 for pleasure).

I traveled with my two boys (4 and 10) my wife and mother-in-law.

We bought tickets, from Chelles to Guarre de L’est. We had a problem checking in with two of the tickets among others a kids ticket.

On the end station we had problems finding our way, an SNCF personnel approached us and we thought he wanted to help.

On the contrary it was a ticket controller and his two rude colleagues whom had figured out that we had problems with two of the tickets; and no stamps on the two.

They threatened us with police and all kind of stuff if we didn’t pay 100 euros. At a point I thought it was a scam. But it was SNCF personnel systematically getting money from tourists??? We paid the tickets for god sake?

Be nice and see how this is solved in other countries without threats, arrogance and bad behaviour.

If you want to know why French authorities has a reputation as rude, arrogant and with no form of service just ask my two kids whom had a really first bad impression of SNCF.
