Solax delight
Despite initial problems some 16 months' ago with the initial installation I have to say my Hybrid 7.5 KW system has worked flawlessly since. Big enough to charge my EV via its 6.6 KW charger, and with 8.4KWp on the roof, it can even charge the PV batteries at the same time when the sun shines! Today we had a planned 8 hour power outage, so via the BIG changeover switch fitted by my electrician, I isolated the house from the grid and ran the whole house via the EPS output. Despite it being overcast the PV batteries were still at 95% after over 8 hours... electricity bill down to around £150 a year, including charging the car, absolutely brilliant!
The new updated app is a real step…
The new updated app is a real step backwards.
Inaccessible information compared to the old app.
Stops working no facility to access relevant information as before such as battery temperature and force charging an essential feature during the winter will not load.
Amazing Customer Service
We're pretty new on the Solar PV/inverter/battery setup and have had several occasions where we've had to contact the customer services via the web chat. Demi has always been really friendly and understanding and has explained things to us in a simple manner. Demi has also been very supporting in upgrading firmware remotely and checking settings for us to ensure we're getting the best use out of our install. The products themselves are great too and we're powering a 5 bedroom house in cloudy north Wales now pretty much off-grid with a 4.45kWh solar array and a 5.8kWh battery on 3.7kWh a hybrid inverter. We're also not on a feed-in tariff yet, so Demi explained how we could configure the equipment to not feed in from the battery only via surplus energy from the solar array if the battery is fully charged and house demand is being met.
We recently encountered problems with…the batteries.
We recently encountered problems with our solar system, the batteries were not working properly which meant we were not realising the benefits of the solar panels. We searched the internet in the hope that we could locate a suitable engineer to help, sadly we were unable to do so! Purely by chance we saw a sign for Solax in Carlyon Road, Atherstone, just on the off chance we decided to call in to see if we could get someone to help; The response was amazing, all of the staff were so polite and helpful, one of the engineers went online, immediately saw the problem, monitored the system, and set in motion the necessary remedial works required. It is important to us that we mention two individuals who epitomise the fantastic customer service that the company have displayed, they are Jason and Mike, who came to correct the battery format at home, both a delight to deal with, we cannot thank them enough, with this standard of service and customer care Solax cannot fail to succeed. Everything is working well and now we are benefitting from an excellent solar panel system.
just so so for the solaxcloud app
Great inverter
Great inverter! Nice app, mine works great, and I can also see consumption.
I had an European inverter brand previously and it was way worse. The app wouldn't show me any consumption and it would make lots of noise in summer due to the fans cooling system.
Very happy with the product.
This company does not honour it…
This company does not honour it warranty. Purchased 10 year warranty and inverter failed they refuse to accept responsibility stating the installer who apparently gone bust. Must provide warranty.
The new SolaX G4 is great
The new SolaX G4 is great! They have the smart consumption meter built-in, which most of the other inverters sells it apart as an accessory for around $400 extra. On a nice sunny day, the 5kw Solax produces 5kw consistently for many hours of the day, until the sun starts to go down.
They have a great support as well and apparently a service guy in Perth!
I wish there was an alternative
I have increased what should be a 1⭐️ with 2 purely because although the app is shockingly poor, and really does need a complete re-write, it does work now, which it wasn’t before, well it does for me anyway. After contacting customer service I actually got a phone call from a very helpful chap, who helped me to get the app up and running properly again after the disastrous update, that caused it to have a touch of dementia. Personal service gets a ⭐️ in my book.
It could be so, so, sooo much better. The possibilities are endless.
All they need to do is work through the reviews and take action using some of the many perfectly feasible ideas.
Personally I would like to be able to set up notifications to tell me when the battery is full, so that I can run any incidentals that I want to use that day, instead of having to keep checking. I don’t want to use the ‘off grid’ alarm on the unit, just a notification on my phone is perfectly sufficient. If it’s already an option that I’ve missed please tell me. I still think a decent ‘how to’ menu is essential but that suggestion seems to have been completely ignored.
Very poor
I had to delete the app and reinstall after the February update as I continually got an error message. Worked fine for 5-6 weeks and now showing no data since the 11th April. The web version of my account is also showing zero data from the same date.
SOLAX Cloud App
Have been running it on a new installation and all going well until 30th March 24. For some reason it dumped all the self use data and so the Yield running total is wrong and does not tally with the Import meter. It seems to be behaving so hopefully a flaky glitch
I have the same problem as Zbysiu
I have the same problem as Zbysiu
I have data up to 5 feb 24 then nothing. Solar panels are still working and meter shows the electricity they are generating but I can't see this in the app. Please help.

The Solax App update caused a failure
The Solax App recently updated and since then we can't access any data. I have tried reconnecting to the home WiFi without success, though I could do this with the previous version up until the recent App update. I have reverted to the old App version, but still can't connect. This has been a problem for 5 days now.
Emma Dutton from Sola X came to my …
Emma Dutton from Sola X came to my house at about midday to resolve all the problems for the Inverter, what a lovely lady! No doubt her work was excellent. Thank you for your help.
I had Solax inverters installed in two…
I had Solax inverters installed in two properties. The installer did not make life easy by not activating the app but Solax have been wonderful.( Above and beyond)
Two people have been exceptional.
Anna Young, who I believe is in China has been so patient and helpful for so long and Emma Dutton has made a house visit and worked miracles to get everything up to scratch.
As a company I would thoroughly recommend SOLAX based on my personal experience.
Great kit and Customer Support
First thing to note is the equipment is excellent, very well engineered and reliable - as an Electrical Engineer myself, I'm very choosy!. I have an X1 Hybrid G3 inverter / 2 x 5.8 KwH system (coupled with Solis PV inverter / 3.85Kw PV).
I use the storage dynamically, ie force charging from the grid during off-peak periods (Octopus Agile tariff - half hour billing) which can dramatically reduce my energy costs. I have also configured as redundant resilience, so that in the event of a supply failure, the storage will power the house (up to c32A load) until of course the batteries are depleted. You can also (but this is only really for areas with flaky grid networks, not UK, or for data resilient / server type environments) use effectively as a UPS.
The system is very stable, as I'm sure lots are, but of course what really counts is Customer Service / Support.
I have had a couple of issues (not with the equipment per se, but app / connectivity related. My first issue was when the equipment was installed, and the app just wouldn't connect. Long story short, it transpired (which I worked out in the end) that (similar to a very small number of apps), it 'doesn't like' Mesh systems, which I have, being as we have a large house. This was overcome by connecting independently using the ISP router Wi-Fi.
My next issue (last couple of days), again a really odd and tricky one, manifested as being unable to access the app. Again, long story short(ish!).....
Yesterday I spent some considerable time going through the system, checking various things (including via a Whatsapp video call with SolaX. No progress was made, the next step being they have shipped a replacement Wi-Fi module. However, as well as being unable to access SolaX, I subsequently discovered that (bizarrely) a small number of my smart sockets (via SmartLife) were not responding via ‘Alexa’, although others were, quite normally. I have a large number of smart devices. I then, even more bizarrely, found they would respond via the SmartLife app directly. Overnight, somewhat restlessly, I had been mulling over, and wondered whether it could be a router issue (even though everything seems normal - upload / download speeds, ping etc). Nothing had changed with it, settings etc. exactly as they had been.
So, this morning I swapped it out with an another one (from my previous Broadband provider), and boom! All of the smart devices were working. SolaX still not, so I removed the Wi-Fi module, left for a couple of minutes, replaced it, reconfigured and hey presto, it’s working! The defective router (being replaced by Sky) I suspect has a DHCP issue.
Okay, so a boring little tale perhaps, but the support and assistance from SolaX has been superb (and very friendly too). AND, they respond VERY fast - hence this review.
All now up and running again - happy days!
Solax hardware great...app not so accurate
We've had the solax battery and inverter since may 5th 2023...can't fault the set up nor the clever solar installation and back up...but the app!!!!!!!.....today (25th Nov 2023) we are not at home and looking on line at 6.20 a.m. we were using 2560kwh from the grid....no one at home for 2 days......and this is t the first time it's done it....so I'd says it's occasionally useless..
No matter how many times we try it…
No matter how many times we try it always fails. The panels and battery and inverter work fine. If I could give zero stars I would.
In conclusion
In conclusion, I recommend Solax for anyone looking to enhance their solar energy storage system. These products have delivered on their promise of cost savings, robust backup capabilities, innovation, and smart use.
Solax’s energy storage system has…
Solax’s energy storage system has operated flawlessly since installation, and the manufacturer's reputation for quality gives me confidence in the long-term durability of the system.
