I love the layout of the website and how easy it is to navigate. The plethora of relevant leads due to the filter feature has also been extremely helpful when searching for leads. Easy to pitch too!

STEPS TO AVOID GETTING SCAMMED

MY EXPERIENCE
To start off, I read about solid gigs through a blog listing non marketplace ways to freelance. Everything about it sounded great, especially the gigs being “tailored” to the freelancer. I was hoping for 90% success/accuracy rate for the specific gigs selected for me from my “assigned” assistant. Unlike marketplace platforms that have detailed portfolio/profile set ups, solid gigs has a 3minute long survey styled questionnaire. There is no way a couple of closed ended questions can truly help tailor the gigs to the freelancer, but wait! There IS a comment box where you can specify what you are looking for, etc. and they do promise above the box that they read it.
As many have said in their reviews, and as I began above, there is no true way with their set up to find quality gigs for the freelancer. My not so pleasant experience was that all of the gigs were long term jobs through major firms, companies, etc. looking for 3+ years experience in a field I wasn’t qualified. Good new though, you can decline the gig and tell your assistant why in a comment box that they promise they read. Sure enough I kept getting those gigs. The other gigs were vague posts about needing a freelancer (no specific qualifications or subject matter listed) from average Joes on Twitter. I didn’t sign up for a link to a platform I do not have in addition to a possible job with no clue as to if I’m a fit or not. The whole premise is that Solidgigs does the research for us. Any of us can comb through social media platforms and find those same vague posts and inquire about them for free.
Those were the only two types of gigs I got during my free trial making me skeptical, so I came here and immediately got concerned based off of the reviews from people who were blatantly ripped off and what truly does appear to be SCAMMED. This is what I did to avoid what many poor souls had to endure from this company.

STEPS TO AVOID GETTING SCAMMED
- 3 days before my free trial was over I turned my card they had on file off, and told my bank to keep a lookout for any fraudulent activity with money being pulled out from this company. I told them that it was a free trial I had canceled so in no way anything would fall on me. Like paying money I don’t have.
- I followed the reply comment steps they sent to many of you about canceling the subscription under the account info. Except it looked like a red button saying cancel account and when I went to click on it it wasn’t a button at all, but rather a text box. I have a screenshot of this as I told them. How do they expect us to do, what they keep telling all of us to do, when there truly ISN’T a way to cancel anything on our own. Definitely felt scammy since some of the other complaints (please read them all) were similarly about not being able to cancel on their own and Solidgigs not getting back to them in timely manner and then being charged not a monthly rate but a yearly rate at that. THEN maybe being returned part of the money with a 25% processing fee taken off the money that should have never been taken to begin with.
- Finally I kept screenshots of everything I sent (with date and time for proof so they couldn’t deny anything) then I clicked their link they sent many of you, in reply to your concerns, and explained that I do not wish to be scammed and even if they are or aren’t scamming people my card is off and my bank is aware. I also mentioned all of the screenshots of my attempts at cancelling on my own.
-The very next day they sent a very short email saying it was canceled! Yay, however, even though I wasn’t receiving new gigs my account was still active. It wasn’t until a day after my free trial was truly over that my account was truly inactive. (I know this because it wouldn’t let me log in without entering new card info).

CONCLUSION
Please look at the red flags, and still be cautious with this company since they do have your card info. Red flag #1 not being able to cancel subscription on your own. #2 not upholding their motto of quality tailored jobs for freelancers that are worth the $. #3 many complaints about being charged too soon. #4 Being charged an annual fee (mentioned nowhere) and not a monthly fee. #5 Many complaints about not hearing a single word back. Communication and customer service doesn’t exist #6 many complaints about having 25% of their wrongfully taken money withheld from their return! It wasn’t a purchase they confirmed, so there should never be a processing fee on a full return of stolen money. In the end, see the flags, do what I did and immediately find reliable reviews and act on it. Not a wholesome, customer oriented business.

Hi, AnnaLeah. Thanks for sharing your experience!

We're sorry we weren't able to find the right kinds of gigs you were looking for.

However, I'm not sure your "red flags" are accurate.

Red flag #1: All users can cancel from their account page. It's a simple process and users do it all the time.

Red flag #2: I'm sorry we didn't deliver the kinds of gigs you were looking for. We're not a fit for all freelancers and happy to refund anyone who didn't have the experience they expected.

Red flag #3: The reason for these complaints is people think they're signing up for a 30-day trial when it's only 7 days. We're considering extending this to avoid confusion but we NEVER EVER charge someone earlier than stated.

Red flag #4: Actually, our annual fee is listed on our home page under "pricing" AND on the registration page. You can't sign up without selecting either the monthly plan or the annual plan.

Red flag #5: We actually have a team of customer service reps. If you've contacted them and haven't heard back, will you email me directly? preston [at] solidgigs [dot] com.

Red flag #6: Again, we NEVER EVER charge customers before their free trial is up. We've checked all the records of all customers who have claimed this and the simple facts are the dates line up as promised. They were only charged after a 7-day trial.

Thanks for sharing your experience HOWEVER, giving us a 1-star rating and 6 red flags based on OTHER PEOPLE's experience is disingenuous for this platform.

We'd invite you to reconsider.

Thanks!
Preston

Stay Away!

Similar to other users, I was charged before even using the service. I contacted them asking if they could extend the trial I never knew I had started. They said no, offered no other solution, no empathy, etc. Thankfully my bank got my back and refunded me the money.

Hi, Francisco. Thanks for leaving this feedback. This doesn't sound like us at all and we're very sorry you've had a bad experience. We can't find any information for a "Fransisco Leon" in our system. Can you email us with more information so we can make this right for you? Thanks!

Scammy - report them to BBB

To everyone who left reviews here or if you’re viewing this page, file complaints with Solid Gigs to the Better Business Bureau and leave your reviews there to let everyone know that this is a scam: type in their address listed on their site on BBB’s website

My Review:
As others have said, solidgigs is quite scammy. On the website, it says that you get a 7 day free trial and my card was charged for $252 before the trial was up. I immediately canceled my service and I’ve contacted twice now with no responses and I’m so worried I’m going to lose money that I can’t afford to lose. Service also isn’t worth it (you can get same leads from Indeed for free and flexjobs is way cheaper). Upon canceling, I no longer receive any services but am still being refused a refund because “I used the service” which is absurd because a week of using a service like this for $252 is way too much.

Update: Not only was I never refunded or even received a prorated refund of $252 but the service is NOT worth it and will send things that are completely irrelevant to your personalization. When I received no refund, I thought I’d at least get my money’s worth so I resumed but then I realized It just wasn’t worth keeping. They have ignored my messages repeatedly and I’ve just filed my SECOND complaint with them to the BBB because I’ve submitted 3 cancel requests now because the service is awful and I’d rather do away with the emails. After 3 cancel requests, they have no canceled my service, and when I go to delete my account there is a page for it, but no option to go through with deleting. This service is SO shady and I shouldn’t need to file a complaint with the BBB just to get my account deleted and service canceled.

Solid gigs replied to my review as you can see along with replying to everyone else’s saying that they don’t scam. They do. If capital one actually protected me I wouldn’t be out $252 and I even stated that I would be fine with a prorated refund because charging during the first week for a whole year is absurd, and it shouldn’t be this difficult just to cancel a service. And yes, I am having trouble canceling the service because as stated above, they reinstated it when I asked to at least get my money’s worth if they won’t give money back and they resumed service, so they are straight up lying in these replies. Listen to reviews, avoid this service, and if you have been scammed, report to BBB.

Charged me a month 1 week into my month trial

Charged me a month 1 week into my month free trial despite not stating this clearly anywhere. When a refund was requested they kept 25% of my payment and claimed it as 'processing fees' which is utterly ridiculous. 1.75-4% is pretty standard across the globe and across most payment methods.

Sounds like a scam to seperate many small freelance workers from a chunk of change hoping most wont miss it or complain.

Disgusting.

PS: Post reply -taken from my email.

I was on a week trial of Solidgigs, after which I decided I hadn't had enough leads to keep the subscription.

I tried to cancel and was offered a free period (I think a month).

So I thought I'd give it some more time to see if it was worthwhile over the longer period.

1 week into this period I've been charged for the month (it wasn't stated anywhere this would happen).
_________

So basically it was the second offer (after cancelling the free week) which lead to me being charged. Watch out for that if you're using SG.

Cheers.

Hi, Andrew. We're definitely not interested in "scamming" small freelancer workers out of anything. Our website clearly states we offer a 7-day free trial—both on the home page and at checkout. I'm happy we were able to issue you a refund. Best of luck to you!

UPDATE: Thanks for the response, Andrew. We can definitely make this right! Please send us an email at team@solidgigs.com and we'll fix the problem for you. This was just an oversight from what I can see. Thanks!
