I've been using SolidBackups for 10+ years, starting when they were BackupBuddy by iThemes. This has been a solid product that allowed me to restore my Wordpress sites from backups after an upgrade "went wrong" or after being hacked. Those are never fun times, but having a backup made all the difference.

Over the years, the iThemes/SolidWP team has always been there to help when something wasn't working with their plugin. I haven't needed their help very often (which is good!) but when I have, they have been professional, knowledgeable, and helped me resolve the issues.

Most recently, in April 2024, I had trouble with a 2GB backup not restoring all the files when I migrated a site. SolidWP's support tech Brent Wilson offered me an alternative tactic for transferring the files via FTP and assured me that they're working on this known issue. I was able to successfully complete the migration.

The Wordpress landscape is always shifting, which is why it's so important to use tools that have active developers keeping things updated. Of course I'd prefer it if the plugin never had a failure, but that's not realistic. Instead, I'm thankful that SolidBackups has a dedicated team working to improve things and help their customers when things don't work.

That's why I'm sticking with this plugin for my Wordpress backup needs.

UPDATE (in reply to SolidWP's comment): The difference between the four and five star review is simply this: When migrating (or restoring) a site, it's absolutely *vital* to have all the files restored. The fact that the plugin missed a bunch of different seemingly random files with no way for me to verify what's missing is super bad. For some, it would be an absolute deal-breaker. For some, they wouldn't even have known enough about Wordpress to understand why the restored copy wasn't working and be able to locate those missing files in the .zip backup to FTP them into place. The fact that this is a 4-star review is a reflection of my confidence in your support tech's statement that you're aware of the problem and working to fix it, and my confidence based on your history of good work. But I wouldn't feel honest giving five stars for a product that "didn't work" when I needed it (especially knowing that if it happened to me, it probably happens to others). Hope you understand. :-)

I originally contacted SolidWP to cancel a legacy plugin bundle subscription and downgrade another plugin subscription. Along the way Matt M proactively discovered that we had a second account (that was a surprise) which contained another plugin subscription.

We didn't even remember what the legacy bundle was! Matt explained; then we were able to confirm that it was no longer needed and should be cancelled.

Before he would cancel a legacy bundle (that couldn't be reinstated if we changed our mind) Matt pointed out that a number of our websites were still listed in our Member Panel as having these plugins installed. He asked me to double-check and I did. I removed them.

I was impressed by the extra care Matt took to make sure we really knew what we were doing with this non-reversible action.

Matt also proactively offered to close the account we didn't want to keep (which saved me having to ask him to do it) and to move its subscriptions across to the account which remained.

He set the legacy bundle subscription up to expire upon renewal. We needed the other subscription to downgrade upon renewal and he organised that too.

Last but not least, he noticed that the credit card had expired on the account we wanted to keep, so he prompted me to fix that. Bonzer!

Now we have one account, everything is set to go, and we can forget about it. The experience has been truly SolidWP.

I've been using their Solid Backup product for my own website and for websites I do for others. Anytime I need technical support their response is quick. If they don't immediately know what's happening, they are persistent in exploring what's going on. And then, I learn from them too!

Several weeks of unsuccessful attempts to correct Full Backup completed snapshots was finally resolved with project management oversight led by Bern Meredith: Head of Support.
Ben stepped in replacing previous SolidWP support representative contact and took ownership of the extended delays in completing critical completed backups for my commercial real estate website by restoring functionality and improved performance of WordPress Backups. Ben's constant monitoring-birddogging-troubleshooting in conjunction with the application of advanced diagnostics provided by his support Team eventually resolved the problem. Ben and his Team should be recognized for a Job Well done! On a singular note, Ben's leadership and tenacity to ensure my support request concluded with successful WordPress Completed Backups. I've been using this backup plugin for over 10 years now. Yes, ever since it was named BackupBuddy. It has been incredibly useful, the module assisting me in creating daily WordPress backups for over 30 websites. I've encountered technical issues occasionally, but each time their support resolves the problem in no time at all. I highly recommend this backup plugin to others.

Hands down the BEST backup plugin for WordPress! I've been using SolidWP (formerly BackupBuddy) for 13 years on all my and my client's sites. I've tried every backup and migration plugin available, and SolidWP outperforms all of them. Not only do they have the best performance and functionalities, but THEIR TECH SUPPORT ABSOLUTELY ROCKS! I'd give them 10 gold stars if I could.

FAST response identifying my issue, and a fast fix!

I had some issues with my backups being widely "overweight", and I could not the reason why they jump from 0.8GB to 2.8GB.
SolidWP support team was very helpful in finding the files which should not be part of the backup and be excluded.

I've been using Solid Backup (previously Backupbuddy) and Solid Security for years. SolidWP is a great company. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Their software has saved me on many occasions. I recently had an issue backing up a very large website. It took a bit of time to solve the problem, but support frequently kept me updated on their progress and was able to find and resolve the issue. They even pushed out a new version of the software quickly for others that may have the same issue. I would recommend them for your Wordpress Backup and Security needs.

they changed their program, now i cant download ithemes security pro, even though Ive paid for it up to april 2024. disgusting behaviour and no information. Dont trust them with a subscription, they will change the software and not have any downloads for the old software you paid for. moved on to their competition.
