Bait-and-Switch Pricing, Extremely Unprofessional & Misleading Pricing
I had a very frustrating experience with Sonic Auto Car Shipping and would not recommend them to anyone.
On March 17, 2026, I contacted them to ship my car from Houston, TX to Savannah, GA. A representative named Dan gave me a quote of $595 and sent me a contract that clearly stated that price. The deal included door-to-door delivery, bumper-to-bumper insurance, and the ability to keep up to 100 lbs of personal items in the car. Based on that, I agreed, signed the contract, and provided my credit card details.
The next day, I received a call from Grace saying they couldn’t find a driver for $595 and that the price was just an estimate. This was never clearly explained when I finalized the deal. Shortly after, she called again saying the price would now be $975, which made no sense because an “estimate” shouldn’t jump by almost $400. When I refused, she mentioned a $200 cancellation fee and even hinted at legal action, which felt completely unreasonable.
After multiple calls, they kept changing the price, first to $775 and then finally to $725. Because I urgently needed my car in Savannah before the end of the week, I felt stuck and agreed to $725. At that point, Grace sent me a second contract with the new price. So now I had one contract from Dan for $595 and another from Grace for $725, which clearly shows how inconsistent and misleading their process is.
Things got worse on the day of pickup. I was initially told I could schedule the pickup, but then I was suddenly told the driver would arrive within two hours and that if I delayed, the price would increase again. I had no choice but to rush and pack my belongings.
When the driver arrived, he refused to take the car with my items inside and demanded an additional $200, even though I was clearly told I could keep up to 100 lbs in the car. I called Sonic Auto, and a person named Tylor answered. Without even seeing my car or what I had inside, he kept insisting that my car was “overfilled” and “overweight.” I asked them to verify or inspect, but they refused and kept repeating the same thing. When I tried calling Grace again, she stopped answering completely.
At that point, the driver told me I either had to remove everything immediately or pay $200 extra, otherwise he would cancel the pickup. I was under time pressure and had no real option, so I ended up paying the extra $200 just to get my car shipped.
Later, when I contacted them to ask for reimbursement, they completely denied responsibility and continued to claim that my car was overweight, even though they never verified anything.
In the end, what started as a $595 contract ended up costing me $925, along with a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration. This company does not honor its original agreements, changes prices arbitrarily, and puts customers in difficult situations with no real support.
I strongly recommend staying away from Sonic Auto.

Excellent pricing
I needed a car shipped from a used car dealership in Florida to my home in Indiana.
If you don't know how vehicle shipping works, here's a primer:
You don't normally deal with the shipping company/driver directly. You work with a broker who will give you the estimated cost of the job. When you accept their "offer", you pay a small down payment ($100?) and the broker posts your job for that price on a website (Central Dispatch) that all the shipping companies look at. Hopefully, a company accept the job at the price that your broker posted.
If the price is too low, the shipping company will contact the broker and tell them "We will do this job for 'X' dollars instead".
If you have a shady broker, they will accept the job at the new, higher price and wash their hands of the whole situation. That's where you hear the horror stories of drivers arriving at customers' homes and telling them they owe hundreds of dollars more than what the customer originally agreed to.
If you have a good broker, they will first contact you to let you know that the price has changed and ask if you will accept the new price.
That is exactly what happened to me with Sonic Auto. My job manager, Harper Jade, initially said that he could get my car to Indiana for $700. He said the deposit would be $250 and I gave him my credit card info.
He posted my job on Central Dispatch and then I immediately started getting text messages from shipping companies that said "We saw that you need to have your car shipped from Florida to Indiana. No company will accept the job at the price posted. We can transport your car for $1600. Is that OK?"
Of course that was not OK so I told them all to pound sand. I was going to hold out for a better price.
A few hours later, Harper called me and said that a company accepted the job for $750. He was very apologetic about the price increase (from $700 to $750), but that was the best he could negotiate with the shipping company. I was grateful that he was able to get a price close to the original estimate. However, I reminded him that I had a $50 off coupon for messaging Sonic Auto on their Instagram page. Harper said because I had the coupon, the price was back down to the original $700.
The driver picked up my vehicle the next afternoon and it arrived a few days later.
The only breakdown in communication was that when the driver arrived with the vehicle, he asked for more than the $450 I thought I owed ($700 minus the $250 deposit). He said he needed $600. Confused, I contacted Harper via text and immediately got a response. It turned out that Sonic Auto only charged me a $100 deposit instead of $250 (without telling me about the reduced deposit). That's why the driver was owed $600. Fortunately, I had enough cash on hand to pay the difference.

New vehicle delivery was awesome
We needed to have a new vehicle transported from MD to MA. The dealership was having a hard time getting their usual service to make a timely delivery. We contacted Sonic Auto Transport, who were prompt, professional, and did a fabulous job. They were even flexible about drop-off, times contacting us to give us options for an earlier delivery. Ultimately they achieved less than 12 hours from pick-up to delivery - excellent all around.
